SPECIAL COMMISSIONS WITHIN THE IMPERIAL MILITARY

Within the Imperial Military's grand hierarchy, a handful of officers hold Special Commissions that place them above the ordinary chain of command and endow them with unique authorities. These commissions are not inherited or won through routine promotion; instead, they are granted directly by Imperial Military High Command, the Imperial Ruling Council, and in rare circumstances, the Empress herself after an exhaustive review of an officer's battlefield achievements, strategic acumen, and loyalty.
Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces (SCAF)
A special commission given to either a High General or a Grand Admiral of extraordinary merit. The SCAF is also given the unique position of being the Military’s Liaison to the Imperial Parliament. They bear their title as a distinctive prefix (e.g., SCAF General).Marshal of Special Forces
A special commission given to the leader of Imperial Special Forces. Equal in power to a Sector General/Sector Admiral, with provisions allowing them to, for a limited time, have the resources of a High General/Grand Admiral. The Marshal reports directly to the SCAF and are often aren't beholden to individual mainline officers. Additionally, the Marshal’s identity is highly guarded.High Commandant
A special commission for higher-ranking officers who oversee the Commandants. They rank above Sector Admirals and Generals, but not at the level of a Grand Admiral or High General. They work with both the Navy and the Army to get their Commandants what they need from each branch. They are also given a position within Imperial Military High Command.Commandant
A special commission given to officers of sectors that aren’t large enough to warrant both an admiral and a general. These select few officers preside over half-sized army and naval detachments. They effectively merged the responsibilities of a High Colonel and a Commodore into a single, versatile command.
