- Able to cleanse Dark-sided energy (structures, artifacts, creatures) with potential to cause hampering of an individual's ability to connect to the Dark side.
- Compact and light weight.
- Must be "recharged" between uses by exposure to a source of Light.
- Requires additional Jedi meditation and time to cleanse areas of extreme Darkness.
The Spears of Ashla were developed as an answer to corruptive Dark-sided artifacts and tools. Guided by Corazona, Padawans
Spears of Ashla may be driven into the walls of a Dark sided temple, or placed near or within a corrupted artifact, where their Light works to subdue the perversion of the Dark side. The effectiveness of a spear is dependent on the strength of the Dark-sided energy present; tombs and artifacts that have been entrenched in the Dark for centuries may take multiple spears, the added effort of Jedi meditation, and time to properly cleanse. By contrast, smaller relics and recent corruptions will take less time to purify.
A Spear of Ashla can also be driven into a physical manifestation of the Dark side - corrupted creatures, the undead, Sithspawn, and practitioners of the Dark themselves. While the application of a spear in this manner may not be sufficient to cleanse the Dark from a particularly strong host, it can cause notable weakening of Dark-sided abilities and physical pain. The duration of this effect may be *temporary or permanent.
One may meditate upon the spears, or expose them to a Light-sided Force nexus to increase their potency. Once a spear has been "used" to cleanse the Dark, it may need to be exposed to another source of Light to regain its initial efficacy.
*I wrote this with intent to leave it up to the receiving writer (the character getting stabbed) to decide whether the duration of the spear's effect extends beyond its initial application.
