John Ash

Only by Fire do we become Ash.
There was always more to do when you owned a company or governed a system. It was even worse when you were doing both. John found himself in just this position as he was still getting the Pii System up and running while building up his company. He had been out getting contracts, hiring new workers, getting things ready for new facilities, and all kinds of paperwork signed for his company while dealing with the constant reports flowing his way that needed decisions made from the system. Thankfully the main work currently was focused on getting the capital city set up and the first base for their military assets. He was able to streamline that into foremen doing most of the work and only the things that he needed to know about or sign off on came his way.

So it was in the name of getting some extra help hired to handle the plethora of tasks that needed done that John had sent out a few job offers to various people and places. One of these was to a mercenary he had heard of back in his merc days named [member="Ri'ven Gevrok"] that was in need of work. The offer informed them to come to the Pii system and land on Pii 3 at the temporary port. Someone there would meet them and escort them to John's temporary office on the planet until it new headquarters was finished being set up. It was here that John waited behind his dark crimson desk made from the local greel wood looking over and signing various forms of paperwork when they arrived.

Ri'ven Gevrok

A cigarette and a gun's all you need.
As if coming into existence from nothing the Myrmidon erupted from hyperspace above Pii 3. With a few button presses around him Ri'ven set the auto pilot and leaned back a little. "Hmm Wonder what this [member="John Ash"] has in mind for this job." He said as he leaned back with a grin, placing a cigarette into his mouth and lighting it up. A slow drag, that lit up the embers at it's end, lighting up a small portion of his lower face with the momentary intensity of the embers before they became obscured by the exhaled smoke.
His silvery blue eyes gazing upon the planet bellow, with a few presses on the side panel next to him he brought up a holographic display with information on both the Pii system and Pii 3.

'What is this John doing here? There isn't much to do here besides logging.' He thought as he placed his index and middle finger around the cigarette and placed it down on the armrest. Idly the smoke rose from the edge of the cigarette as the outside of the ship began to light up slightly as the ship came into the atmosphere. Placing the cigarette into the corner of his mouth and took control once more as he piloted the old junker down onto the temporary port.
Standing up and putting on his armors outer coat and stuffed his helmet under his arm as he made his way out of the ship and onto the landing pad. The last bit of the cigarette in the corner of his mouth taken and flicked out onto the edge of the landing pad.

Before the mercenary would be the beginnings of a city being built from pretty much nothing. The system had not been used for much more than greel wood harvesting, since the wood was only able to be obtained from the planets of this system and one of the most luxurious woods in the galaxy, but that did not mean there was not potential from the nearly untouched resources available. John knew that there was more to this system than just expensive wood and he meant to see it built up. So with building of all kinds being constructed all around him, [member="Ri'ven Gevrok"] would be greeted by a lannik who would guide him to the temporary office.

As the pair arrived, the lannik would knock on the door. A response of "enter" was barely audible from within and the lannik would press the panel. As the door slide into the wall, the mercenary would be motioned to enter by his guide. John was busy going about his paperwork still for matters dealing with both his company and the system, as if they were not one and the same. He said as he didn't look up, " Ri'ven Gevrok I assume. Take a seat. Doesn't matter which." He motioned towards a pair of chairs made out of greel wood just like his desk and chair were on the other side of his desk from him. He went on after, " Heard a bit about you from some old associates. Not much though. Enough to be curious. Tell me what you can do and what you can offer to me if I pay you. The truth. Not interested in boasts."

As he walked along after the Lannik he looked around a little over the area. Upon entering the room another cigarette had been placed into his mouth as well as half finished. It's lazy sliver of smoke almost marking were he had been walking up to this point. With a light nod of thanks he moved to sit down on the right chair. "Well as far as achievements go I guess beating a self proclaimed Sith initiate is about as high as my combat abilities go. Given the state of the galaxy I've chosen to go about things in a low-key manner but I'm competent at what I do." He said in a blunt manner before taking a drag of the cigarette and blowing out the corner of his mouth.

Ri'ven didn't advertise his past as a commando trainee and learning martial arts from his mother. The few that knew of him most likely knew of how hard it was to keep Ri'ven down or stop him after he had accepted a job.

With the paperwork in front of him demanding all of his attention, John still managed to find time to listen to what this mercenary had to say. He had kept the conversation quick and to the point, which was something that John liked to hear. The man had also taken down one of the angry space wizards, which was another thing John liked to hear. They might have only been an apprentice or initiate or whipping boy or whatever they liked to be called, but it didn't chance the fact that even an inexperienced one was dangerous. John finished up the paperwork he had been working on then looked up to the man before him smoking away like his life depended on it.

John studied him over a moment then said, " Competent and has dealt with space wizards before. Good enough for me. We can discuss your price later but for now I need to know your skill sets. I want all of them not just what weapons you have actually had your hands on in more than a wet dream. What sort of work have you done before and are familiar with? The more you tell me the more work I can send you on that suits your talents. I don't want to send a bus boy out to infiltrate a pirate hide out after all." He then sat back and waited. His eyes were focused on the merc and it was clear from his expression he was very serious about what he wanted to know. Now was not the time to be playing the guessing game with people's skills after all.

OOC: Sorry for the delay. I got busy with family stuff this weekend.

Ri'ven almost smiled though he kept it to himself as he watched [member="John Ash"] work and his next question to him. "I'm experienced with hand-to-hand, small arms, long arms, heavy, explosives, as well as able to slice and perform any mechanic work the job might require. I know several Martial arts though I'm most proficient in K'tara and Echani, I've had basic and special military training though I didn't serve. I'm quite a good pilot as well." He said as he sucked in the last of the cigarette and put it into a small black cylinder he had taken out of his inner pocket that he put the cigarette out in.

"I've done a few infiltration's in the past both to get a target and also to get information on a target." He then finished as he leaned back into the chair and wondered what John might say to his skill set.

(OOC: that's fine I've been busy with work too)

John just listened to all of the things that the merc had to list off. There certainly were a lot of things he was good at, but John couldn't really say he was bragging. John himself could do a lot of that himself as well as other things being listed so he couldn't call nerf poodoo on it. If the man was right though about his skill set then there was going to be plenty of uses he could get out of him, especially with this latest job he had in mind. Once the man had finished John just sat back looking at him. He was still trying to decide what all to do and how best to see the man in action. After a moment he finally leaned forward and said, " I've decided to take you on a probationary job. You and me will be doing a cleaning up in one of the asteroid belts. Most of the pirates had the good sense to take my offer and join my new system set up, but a few didn't take me seriously. I promised I would shoot them in the faces personally if they stayed and I keep my word. Get suited up for space combat and wait for me at this dock." He sent a pair of coordinates to the man then motioned for him to exit his office. He figured the best way to get an idea of what he could do was to see it himself.

It had not taken John long to get ready for the mission at hand. He was already planning to do this himself anyways so he was nearly ready before the merc showed up. He stood by his ship, the Blueshift, in his armor. He had a pair of his pistols in the holsters and his rifle in his hands. All he was waiting on was for the merc to arrive ready to go. When the man did show up, he said to him, " Ready? Good. Get into the ship. We have to hit two places before we are done. They are old asteroid mining facilities so they aren't big, but that doesn't mean they aren't dangerous. Expect tight hallways and sudden corners." He got into the pilot seat of his ship and waited for his current companion to join him in the passenger seat. Once they were both in he would seal the hatch and then take off.

OOC:
I did a lot here but just trying to get us moving along to the action. I hope you don't mind.

After listening to [member="John Ash"], he simply nodded and stood, lighting up another cigarette as he left the room. With a slight look to the side he observed some of the workers and a slight frown came to his lips. Probationary work?! He thought as he walked along the outer pathway's and spat to the side, despite being a merc without much renown he'd never had to do such work before, he felt a little insulted. As he got to his ship he simply flicked the cigarette to the side as his lips had grown into quite the annoyed scowl as he let out a light growl as he entered the ship.
Once he left the ship he adjusted his armors gauntlet, the helmet clicked to his belt while his pistol was on the other side of his hips. His rifle secured at his back as he made his way to the docking bay already lighting up another cigarette as he finished his pack, his scowl growing slightly more annoyed now that he didn't have cigarette's left. He made sure to enjoy the last one while making sure that the smoke grenade and frag grenade attached to the grenade hooks on his outer coat were fastened securely, then fondling the extra two frag grenades in the coats pocket. "I better get paid for this." He mumbled to himself right before he entered the dock and flicked his cigarette to the side as he moved to put his helmet on and joined John silently into the passengers side.
