Lao-ta watched as the armored man and the other padawan were tossed aside by the giant sith lord. She felt the odds tipping further against them, but she would not lose hope. They could stall the dark lord and make it out of this alive. Then came the lightning. She saw it burst forth towards both herself and Niynx. She was fast. Fast enough to evade but Niynx wasn't. She dashed with force imbued speed to interpose herself between the oncoming storm and her padawan, dropping her sabers in favor of a different tactic.

Raising her palms she caught the lightning. "AAAAARRGH!" Caught was perhaps too strong a word. The crimson bolts coursed into her but she opened to the flow of the force and guided the energy through herself. She felt the unbridled hatred that powered the storm as it burned her skin scarring her arms and scorching her robes. She channeled it through her and down into the ground where it left dark scorching trails, before raising her arms again to send it cascading back at Carnifex. She was doing it. She was redirecting the lightning, but her technique was imperfect and the raw power burned its way through her as she did. She would survive this but it would leave it's mark on her.

She growled in stubborn resistance as she sent the storm back at it's origin. "What's the point Carnifex?" She gasped. Pained. "Even if you kill everyone in this palace the Sith cannot hold Elom. Nothing you do here matters. Why fight?!" She kept the power flowing as long as she could. She only needed to distract him a little longer. In desperation she reached out to her padawan with her mind, begging for help. The power was almost overwhelming her as her skin smoked and cracked.

"Gah—!"
Niynx felt the great disturbance in the Force mere moments before the Sith Lord's onslaught, like a massive, coiling serpent readying to strike. A storm of crimson lightning unleashed from around the giant, scarring the stone stairways underfoot black, cracking and shattering them, transforming them into glass. Niynx had never felt such power like this before, momentarily stunned by the impression of darkness it left like a stain on the Force...

Before he could react, Master Lao-ta was there, casting aside her weapons in favor of the Jedi's greatest ally, the light. Carnifex's sorcery hit them like a wave, rocking both Jedi backwards, chirping thunder and screaming lightning reaching and rippling 'round them, burning skin and causing the air to smell of ozone and char. Through the glare of the Dark Lord's red, glowing death, Niynx watched as both allies, the unknown warrior and the Padawan Holt, were cast aside and crippled, tossed out of sight.

Niynx let his instincts move him, called in the Force by his Master to action. Swiveling like a dancer, eyes wide with mounting adrenaline, Niynx stowed his own blade (electing instead to keep Jedi Master La T'vil's in hand), and reached out through the Force to find Lao-ta there, desperate and mighty. There is no chaos, there is harmony. Light filled him, defiant to the darkness even as it was eclipsed. Like one friend helping another to stand upright, his gentle hand pressed into Lao-ta's back, warm and comforting. There is no death, only the Force.

A surge of healing vitality lanced through him and into Lao-ta, encompassing them both like a warm breath in cold air, a glowing fog, conducted by the Force. It added its power to her defenses and passed over burns and wounds alike, healing cracked skin and soothing the trauma of such a darkness.

He could feel the tipping point in Lao-ta's defense, feel his Master's strength become emboldened, converting the protection of her Padawan into a powerful counter-offense and sending the flurry of lightning back onto its caster. We are equal to the task.

Bound through the practiced link of their minds, Niynx acted without need for command or spoken directive, a conduit for the shared will of Master and Student, adding himself to her power. Sweeping out from behind Lao-ta, emerald blade trailing its humming afterimage through smoking air, Niynx bent low and lunged at the Dark Lord with Makashi's forceful Wind Blows Over the Wall. Whatever the cost, Carnifex could not be allowed the time nor convenience to rid himself of Dominik's inflicted wounds, Niynx's blade whipping and winding to bat away at the Sith Lord, distracting and harrying his attempts to dig free the void-stone bullet, his footwork designed to leave room for Lao-ta's superior form.
