  • Organization Name: Sisters of the Depths
  • Classification: Religious Cult/Crime Organization

  • Organization Symbol:

  • Description:
The Sisters of the Depths are an offshoot of the Nightsisters back on Dathomir. Their leader, Retha Raltel left her homeworld in search of power and prestige, only to find herself in the slums of the lower levels on Coruscant. It was here that she fostered a following, and soon her force usage saw her gain hundreds of followers and carve a section of the lower levels as her territory. It was here that the traditions of the Nightsisters mixed with local cultures of the gangs and birthed the Sisters of the Depths.

Much of their hierarchy is related to their Nightsister cousins, with women being the only leaders and high ranking members and men being delegated to foot soldiers and servants. Unlike many other gangs, the Sisters of the Depths have fostered a unique culture based around mysticism, soaked with rituals. Their lairs are often filled with chanting and various occult symbols. Few of their number have any notable skill in the force, and those that do are in the higher layers of leadership.

It is here that the Nightsister influence begins to dwindle. Instead of gang colors or symbols to identify themselves, the men are distinguished by their completely shaved bodies with ritualistic scarring and tattoos in elaborate designs. Those higher up in the command chain having more of these decorations. The women on the other hand are obvious by their similarly shaven bodies but with elaborate clothing made of a single strip of cloth that wraps around their body and is usually dark crimson or black. The Sisters of the Depths are known for their brutal tactics in keeping businesses and territory under control, effectively taxing any merchants and stores in their territory taking 40% of their profit sometime. This money usually goes into paying their 'Free-Men' who have proven themselves worthy of some level of autonomy or into getting better gear or luxary items for the gang.

GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: Mother's Temple is a small inconspicuous building on the lower levels hidden away in a dark alley, it is here, behind a false wall, that a large network of tunnels and rooms are used as an HQ.
  • Domain: They own large swaths of the lower levels of Courscant.
  • Notable Assets: N/A
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy: The High Mother is the unequaled leader, followed by several Mothers, and then the Sisters, under them are the men of the organization, the 'Free-Men' who have the most autonomy followed by Acolytes and Initiates who are simple foot soldiers.
  • Membership: Their numbers are estimated to be around 5,000 members. In order to join, 12 candidates are put into an arena and must fight to the death, the surviving 4 are adopted into the organization. From here the 4 must participate in a complex ritual where they gain their first tattoos and scars and their bodies are shaved. Then they are known as Initiates. Initiates gain prestige through combat and following order, eventually graduating into Acolytes and eventually 'Free-Men'. 'Free-Men' have some level of autonomy, able to pick out their own gear and use money to buy luxury items and more comfortable accommodations outside of the barracks in the temples where Acolytes and Initiates must sleep. Women seeking to join must prove to have some level of force-sensitivity to become a sister, if they do not, then they must complete a similar ritual to the men and are adopted as servants.
  • Climate: To put it simply, it's a cult. People are heavily indoctrinated to rat out anyone harboring any sort of free thought outside of cult doctrine and what their higher ups tell them to do. Outside of combat and their servant duties most spend hours in trances, meditating, or various other mind numbing rituals. It's also a cult in that it preys on people's need for belonging and even their basic needs. The horrors of the cult are counterbalanced by large relief centers for the homeless and destitute, setting them on the course to joining the darker sides of the cult.
  • Reputation: It is incredibly hated. Even the other gangs view them as a terror, as they have a reputation of burning their enemies alive and other horrifying punishments for those who betray them or are their enemy.
  • Curios: Lots of ritualistic tattoos, and some of the higher ups use Maelridae as war beasts similarly to how the witches of Dathomir use Rancors.
  • Rules: Many beliefs of spirits and the force permeating all things and that in order to use the force one must be possessed by a spirit at some level. The High Mother is even believed to be possessed by multiple spirits. So thus the ultimate goal is to try to appease spirits to try to gain some level of their favor. This is thought to be accomplished through rituals, chanting, prayer, etc, and following the strict chain of command as those who are already favored by spirits can put in a good word for you in the spirit world or tell you your future and give you guidance.
  • Goals: The Organization ultimately wants control of as many people as possible for both profit and power.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Myra's Mother, Retha Raltel came to Coruscant for riches and found just how unforgiving the 'civilized world' could be. But she was a fighter. Using her mediocre force abilities she was able to inspire fear and awe as more people flocked to her fabricated religion and joining her army. Eventually Myra came into the world, and Retha slowed down the cult's expansion, trying to go more discrete to give her time to raise her only child in safety. She trained Myra from day 1 on the ways of the Coruscanti underworld. And then, retired. Only two people know of this, knowing that Retha has handed the reigns to Myra, they await the day that Myra fully realizes her force abilities to awaken the Cult and start expansion anew.
