[ Strengths ]
  • | From the Shadows | The Star Destroyer makes use of the newly created Gladus Cloaking Device. This very device helps to shroud the vessel in the air of mystery. Specifically, the cloaking device allows for the 'penetration' of light through the vessel's hull through a rudimentary yet cost-effective space warping technology. The light can go through the Star Destroyer to give off the appearance that nothing is there whatsoever and that nothing was there whatsoever. The light that penetrates through this also includes such things as UV light, which makes certain alien traits such as being able to see into the UV light spectrum ineffective as the light appears to 'pass through' the Star Destroyer.
  • | Advanced Stealth Technology & Force User Anti-detection | A cloaking capable ship needs more than a cloaking device to make itself a stealth vessel, it also needs such things as stealth systems to deter any sensors from detecting it's presence and any abnormalities, most abnormalities that is. The ship harbors on it a unique creature that can create a force-neutral bubble, the Ysalamri. These creatures are scattered strategically throughout the ship to cover all points among it. The combined 'bubble' that these creatures make helps to create an artificially created 'shield' of sorts around the Star Destroyer, cutting off Force User's from being able to detect it, at least, in most cases.
  • | Ambush | Through the combination of cloaking technology, stealth technology, and an anti-force user detection system, the Star Destroyer can excel greatly as a capital-ship killer...specifically by ambushing it. The SD merely needs to activate its cloak and all of its stealth systems and creep up on the enemy vessel and then decloak and fires all of its weapons when, say, for example, behind or below or even above an offensive capital ship. Let the weapons fire...and the ambush should greatly damage, if not, possibly kill an enemy capital ship.
[ Weaknesses ]
  • | Cloaked and Defenseless | When cloaked, the Star Destroyer's shield and weapon systems are almost completely turned off and utterly powerless until the cloak is deactivated. This makes the ship defenseless in regards to shield's along with defenseless in regards to most of its weapons, making it, in essence, a metal coffin that can only drift slowly through space...towards its target.
  • | Diminished Sublight Engine Speed when Cloaked | The Gladus Cloaking Device takes up a large portion of the Star Destroyer's power, pulling power away from most systems of the starship. This subsequently affects the sublight engines as well, diminishing their overall speed and overall efficiency, rendering them slower than they already were when uncloaked. Though non-immobile, the SD will move at a sluggish pace as it creeps towards its target. Further energy and power can be expulged to the engines of course for short bursts of speed though this comes at the cost of the cloaking device possibly deactivating and/or the ship possibly being detected due to unnatural power fluctuations.
  • | Space Warping | The cloaking device, although powerful, can come with its own sets of challenges that had not been accounted for by the engineering team. One such issue that presented itself after the first I-Wraith was developed and field tested, was the issue of space-warping. This issue had never presented itself previously on smaller sized vessels, though on a starship such the size of a Star Destroyer, the issue became present before it could be fixed. When the Sta Destroyer cloaks and is hidden, spacial warping occurs. This spacial warping, however useful it may be, gives off a subtle change in the battlefield and on sensors. If a sensor system were to try and detect it or come in 'close' contact with it...the sensor systems would go haywire and display numbers that seemed and looked impossible. This, of course, is a tell-tale sign of a cloaked vessel being nearby. Now if a starship were to have a specified sensor to specifically scan and detect spatial anomalies and spatial warping, they would be able to detect a blob of spatial warping and abnormalities around the I-Wraith. The blob wouldn't take the triangular shape of the Star Destroyer, but appear move as an oval-esque and circular, splotchy blob than anything else.
  • | Bizarre 'Force' Signature | The Ysalamri Anti Force User Detection System (YAFUDS) blankets the Star Destroyer in a 'tight fitting shield' of neutral force energy. This force energy, in theory, helped to deter force users from easily detecting the vessel. However, this feature also can help force users detect the vessel, ironically enough. The mass concentration of the Ysalanri creatures in one area makes the vessel have a strange and bizarre 'force' signature. It exists as an incorporeal blob of neutral force energy which, a powerful enough and wise enough and intelligent of enough force user can possibly detect the bizarre clout of neutral force energy drifting through space.
  • | Power Fluctuations | The Gladus Cloaking Device takes up a large amount of the Star Destroyer's overall power from it's Solar Reactor. This large usage of energy can...fluctuate at times, randomly and unpredictably. Which can allows the trained eye of a technician and/or officer to detect the strange and random power fluctuations in supposed 'empty space,' possibly leading to the discovery of a nearby cloaked Star Destroyer.
[ Description ]
  • The Wraith I-class Star Destroyer is the first in a line of an estimated four total (I-class, II-class, III-class, IV-class) stealth based and more specifically, cloaked-based Star Destroyer vessels that can and will be used in active combat engagements. The I-class is a capable frontline Star Destroyer, being able to easily hold it's own in the thick and heat of battle, capable to take on multiple other opponents just as it's centuries-old predecessor, the Imperial I-Class Star Destroyer was capable of doing. Unlike its predecessor, however, the Wraith I-class and it's subsequent version and variants can allow, and can undergo cloaking in battle. This cloaking system not only helps in covert operations in enemy territories but can also help to serve as a prized and valuable ambush vessel. The 'ambush' this Star Destroyer can set can be utterly devastating, capable of taking out a capital ship or two before the enemy even knows what has hit them. In most engagements, the Wraith will tend to cloak and then go either above or below enemy vessels before uncloaking and raining down fire from these locations where it is typically hard, if not sometimes impossible, for enemy starship fire to reach.
  • When cloaked, the vessel's shields become disabled. Which forced the requirement of heavy armor plating. Utilizing a five meter thick, triple layered and overlapping metal-worked armor system, the Wraith can suffer an inhospitable and abhorrent punishment from enemy vessels before even starting to show signs of damage. The outermost armor layer is a mixed alloy of Alusteel and Quadanium, typical metals used in the construction of capital ships and star destroyers, creating a very thick and very durable layer that is very difficult to break through without the use of sustainted and powerful weaponry at one centralized location. Lying below that three-meter thick layer, lies a layer of duraplast and quadaium metal alloy. The Quadanium makes up the brunt of the defense, while the Duraplast helps to absorb Ion fire and distribute it across its metal surface, minimizing overall electronic damage widespread across the vessel to a very low. The last layer and controversy, the 'strongest' is a specified Quadanium-carbon Graphene Hexagonal Pattern plate. The exact workings of this type of armor system are most unknown, though the hexagonal carbon and quadanium patterns absorb almost all forms of enemy fire whether they be heat, plasma, ion, or emp based. The hexagonal patterns also house small 'nodes' which help to absorb a small portion of enemy ion fire and convert it into active energy to be used immediately by the Star Destroyer.
  • The vessel, of course, makes use of an advanced cloaking system and device as per it's designed intentions. The Gladus is located in the bowels of the ship in a protective containment unit within the reactor core room which itself, is already heavily armored and makes use of turdanium blast doors and airlocks along with ray shielded airlocks and blast doors subsequently to deter any unsavory 'passengers.' The cloaking field itself when activated, allows for the passage of light, all forms of light specifically, including UV light as well, through its hull. This process itself involves a 'cost-effective' space warping technology cost-effective in the sense that it is relatively cheap to produce...at least when compared to how expensive the Star Destroyer and the cloaking device are...along with how dangerous space warping can be as well at times. This warping of space helps to allow the passage of light through the vessel. Though, this space warping can also be detrimental to the cloaking technology itself, helping it and hindering it at the same time in some cases.
