SIGNY "SIGURD" BRALOR

BACKGROUND

15 years ago Kjartan Bralor, while sampling the port girls during a break from plundering, came across a young woman he was quite taken with. They had a short fiery romance that left her with a child. Joy of joys, a son and heir.

Space was too dangerous for such a precious cargo so the pregnant mother was left at the port Kjartan found her, with enough money to raise the child and with the promise that Kjartan would return when his son was old enough to pick up a blaster.

He received regular correspondence from the mother before and after the birth and things were going well. They decided he should be named Sigurd and brought up with Bralor values. This continued until Kjartan heard that her outpost had been attacked by raiders and Signy's mother killed defending the homestead. She died with her back to the crib with a thermal detonator in hand, like a real woman.

Kjartan returned, duty bound to retrieve and care for his child and found, not his son, Sigurd, but a daughter, Signy. It had been a deceit, but the child was barely a year old and knew nothing of it. The Mandalorian looked down and he saw a survivor, one that carried the strength of both her parents.

Kjartan raised her as best he could. Installing a strong sense of code and honor, still seeing the son and heir in her despite the revelation.

She grew up tough and with her father's strong morals, often hiding her gender in public to better fill the role of "son".

Signy is learning well, she is an excellent pilot and fancies herself a bit of a gunslinger, favouring either dual pistols or pistol and shield.

PERSONALITY

She wants to make her father proud, that is her driving force. She is fiercely proud of her mandalorian heritage even if she is sometimes prone to moments of teenage ennui. She is well aware that her mother died to protect her and won't waste that sacrifice. She has taken to wearing a wolf sigil to honor her mother's totem animal.

Being brought up largely as a son she has a fairly masculine energy. It didn't help that the few older female vod in her life were hardly what you would call "girly".

Signy loves a fight. She is a good shot with a pistol and has images in her mind of her walking slowly into dusty streets for a noon showdown with some lowlife. This is likely partially inspired by her enjoyment of watching Tattooine holoflicks with her father on long hyperspace trips.

Her relationship with her father is positive, with a strong amount of discipline, Kjartan doesn't spare the rod, metaphorically speaking. As she has gotten older there is a fair amount of ribbing in both directions with Signy now quite confident to call out her father for his own shortcomings. Signy probably sees her future as a supercommando, given enough training.

APPEARANCE

Short brunette hair, wide almond shaped eyes and a slightly boyish charm. Signy had a petite frame that is enhanced with well toned muscles from a lifetime of training and honing her skills.

Wears muted colours, leathers and furs in keeping with her clan style. Or at least that of her father.

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES

STRENGTHS
​

Gunslinger - Either with dual pistols or with a pistol and a shield on her arm she is growing into a specialist role in close quarters firearms, appropriate for someone used to combat in ships corridors. It also matches well with her father's tastes for getting in very close and personal.
Tough love - Her upbringing toughened her up, she doesn't scare easily and will stand up for herself to much older and more intimidating foes.
Pointy end - Not her first choice if a pistol is within easy reach. But she is a capable short spear fighter

WEAKNESSES

Limited combat experience - Its not her fault she's only 15. Shes talented, but lacks the experience that years of combat will eventually give her.
Long range weakness - Her most frequent combat engagements involve close quarters so she sometimes has a hard time at long range and finds it doesnt come naturally to her, particularly with heavier weapons where her smaller frame also comes into play.
