DESCRIPTION

The strong make their symbols and place the patterns by which they are known.

The Paragons have become something of a labor of love for Kelsie Sylvan -- since her departure from the Confederacy she has often felt more inspired and striving to do better, create better. Diving into her work has brought her to the edge of the galaxy's thriving criminal underworld. With the rise of the Black Sun as a more legitimate galactic state, the galaxy's undesirable elements have increased their activity. The Crucible strikes deep into the Confederacy of Independent Systems time and time again, and the Jedi are too engaged with the Sith to properly combat the marauders of the galaxy.

Kelsie was reminded of the time of the Empire; watching the propaganda of stormtroopers marching across battlefields to epic orchestral music and engaging the ragtag rebels. That was her symbol, one she held in her mind for so long. Looking back it was clear why that held so much power for her -- and why the Empire fell so easily. Myths flew about the destruction of the first and second Death Stars, tales were told of the Jedi rising again, symbols of the Rebellion spread like wildfire.

In this age of quiet, encroaching darkness, Kelsie planned new stories to anchor those of the light who rose to meet it.

Stories of armored soldiers of no flag pushing back the scum that infested the galaxy. Stories of men and women who could lift Trandoshans with one arm. Stories of those who could beat back a dozen slavers and liberate entire towns single-handedly. Stories of the Paragons.

The Signum-type Shock Armor is the first attempt at a semi-standardized outfit for the Paragons. While previously individual operatives had largely used equipment from their previous occupations, once Kelsie Sylvan officially took over the Paragons she got to work on creating an armor for them. Stealing bits and pieces from previous projects such as her own Combat Armor and the Dauntless "Peregrine" Scout Armor, she worked with Missy to design a highly functional armor set for the Paragons.

Each set of armor sports some of the most advanced technology and supplementary systems in the galaxy -- despite the greater scale and production value of many armors produced by greater nations, there were often small discrepancies, and the designers of the Signum were sure to fit nearly every bit of technology that might be needed for a Paragon operative in the field.

The helmet is the most important piece to the set. It is the linchpin by which the entire armor is operated through and provides a significant advantage to the wearer when operating at full capacity. The full sensor suite and integrated Multi-Frequency Targeting System allows the wearer to easily track and target enemies as well as be extremely aware of their surroundings. The information gathered by these sensors and the suit's other systems are directed to the helmet's HUD, where the user can easily manage the suit using retinal tracking, blink, voice, and tongue commands. A microcomputer built into the helmet gives suggestions and predictions to the user to aid them. Multiple other systems can be activated and used, from an audio/visual recording system, emergency oxygen supply, and advanced communications systems.

A retractable glasteel visor/faceplate is reinforced with betaplast, duravelx, durasteel, and armorweave for the rest of the helmet. A thermal gel layer softens kinetic impacts and in addition to interior cellulose padding (which provides much comfort) generally protects the head from any kind of damage.

This level of protection is increased for the rest of the armor, with thicker betaplast, duravelx and durasteel reinforcement particularly focused on protecting the major organs of the body. The breastplate is the strongest part of the armor, easily able to withstand blaster shots, slugs, and even glancing lightsaber blows. The armor is fully sealed with the helmet and is void-capable, and combined with the Maneuvering Array's boosters allows the wearer to operate effectively in zero-G space.

The Maneuvering Array is one of the primary advanced systems apart of the armor. Nearly two dozen miniaturized repulsors and rocket boosters allow the user to increase their agility significantly -- wall running, sliding, and double-jumping are simple tasks for the Signum. The added maneuverability does have a slight drawback; the exposed repulsors and boosters present slight holes in the exterior baffleweave coating, making the user more easily detected when the Maneuvering Array is in use. Additionally, damage to the array can significantly limit the user's maneuverability.

An armorweave-rybcoarse body glove is one of the most important pieces of the Signum-type. The rybcoarse cybernetics allow the wearer to over triple their muscle strength, packing a significant punch in tandem with the Signum's power glove systems. As it is beneath most of the other layers of material, it is largely insulated from attack, but damage to the rybcoarse underlay could disrupt the strength-enhancing capabilities.

The layer closest to the skin, aside from the layer of cellular padding for comfort, is the Valkyrie system. This acts as a sort of field medical kit for the user, and can give stim shots to increase effectiveness in combat. Due to the fact that Paragons often act alone or in very small groups, bringing along an extra medic is often not an option, thus the Valkyrie system is one of the Signum's most important.

While the Valkyrie provides support and the armor provides heavy protection, the Signum's gauntlets consist primarily of offensive systems. Paralyzing dart launchers allow the wearer to incapacitate enemies quickly. The grappling line launcher provides means to entangle or entrap enemies as well as make a quick escape when the Maneuvering Array cannot be used. A simple stun blaster is another nonlethal weapon. A power glove system increases hand to hand combat capabilities.

Additional combat webbing and equipment pouches help fulfill a Paragon's needs.

Despite this being a ubiquitous piece of equipment for the organization, each suit is slightly different. A Paragon's Signum is tailored to their needs; size, race, and many other factors are taken into account when manufacturing the armor. Personal requests for systems in one's Signum are usually granted, provided they do not diminish the wearer's effectiveness. The largest changes included are the variants of the armor: one uses Photosensitive Microscopic Crystals to increase stealth capabilities, giving the suit a full coating of the crystals; while the second adds a molecular shield generator to significantly boost the wearer's defenses against energy attacks.

This armor and its bearers are soon to be the stuff of urban myths and children's stories, but this does not prevent the Signum-type Shock Armor to be one of the most practical, efficient armors to date.

This is a very in-depth submission, with a lot of effort placed in detailing the modifications and various attachments. While it's looking like a great write-up, I'm going to ask you to link the various modifications/attachments used in this submission so that for those that might come up against this in an In-Character environment, will be able to know exactly what it is they're dealing with.

[member="Veiere Arenais"] I have linked all of the more uncommon special-ish features that have canon references and that have not already been linked in the sub -- thanks! I think I got a little lazy, haha.

[member="Kelsie Sylvan"]

Great start, however I still require the following:

Armor:
  • Base Armor Polish; Counteracts direct acidic attacks.
Is this a specific compound used to counter acids/chemical attacks?

Special Features:
  • Rybcoarse-Armorweave body glove -- Increased strength.
  • Advanced Repulsorlift Maneuvering Array -- Increased maneuverability and agility; repulsors and boosters equipped on feet, calves, quads, back, upper arms, and waist.
  • Duravelx and Durasteel Reinforcement -- Limited lightsaber resistance.
  • Laser-reflective coating -- Excellent small arms resistance.
  • Integrated Computer Systems -- Advanced predictive systems, HUD connectivity to Paragon network.
Please link the above special features as they're typically the more advanced components of the submission.

Sorry! I thought they were clearly enough linked in the Materials section. I have added the links I can.

As for the armor polish, I did not have a specific compound. It was largely to justify the acid resistance.

Thanks again!
