Signs of a Bad Day (open)

Talia adjusted her black hood, the damp weather made her glad she had decided to wear it, there were other reasons as well of course. She still felt out of place in her clothing a black shirt and pants along with black leather boots, chosen to allow her to blend in with the crowd. But, Talia was used to silks and jewelry. However, her simply braided hair and dark bruise decorating her left cheek, it was starting to swell and rather large taking up most of her face. She had other wounds as well but this one was most notice able upon casual inspection. She took a moment to steady herself before moving down the street, her hand resting on a wall as the world spun briefly, she was aware that was not a good thing, but not all together unheard of for some on with a blow to the head. Her ribs were aching as much her head, causing breathing to be as painful as thinking was at the moment.

She did her best to move down the street as a normal person might. She was fairly certain she wasn't being followed by this point, but she wasn't entirely sure. That fact along was what kept her moving forward. There something in her favor however, most people who were out at this time of night were more wrapped in in their own affairs and it was every easy to over a lone woman in the street. For most of them at least. She was also aware those who might notice her in the middle of the night might not have her best interests in mind. Not only that they might have followed her, she was the only one who made it out as far as she knew, she was counting on herself traveling faster than news did.

Talia's vision was starting to swim however, that and the nausea forming in the pit of her stomach told her she clearly needed to find a doctor/healer sooner rather than later. In some corner of her mind she hoped it was simply the lack of sleep getting to her and nothing more serious. She had fled head long for most of the night, and the lack of rest certianlly wasn't going to work in her favor. Regardless of what it was that was effecting her, she stumbled for a moment before catching herself and moving forward. She didn't manage to get much further however, a life time with out much need for psychical strain was working against her, the world spun for the last time and Talia spilled ungracefully forward as her vision finally faded into nothing-ness.

Jenson Koraz was in a very bad spot. All around him people were in the throes of rage, looting and burning the estate before him. Jenson had come to this planet at the behest of the Silver Jedi Order to observe the political and social unrest that had been spreading and gaining strength for quite some time. Jenson had wished to attempt to step in and try to halt the violence, but it was an internal affair, and his request had been denied. So, he had sat back, watched, and waited for the inevitable. And finally, now, it had come.

Jenson maneuvered his way as best he could through the crowd, Silver Jedi robes held tightly around him. People for the most part ignored him; their target was the estate, not a lone Force-user, and Jenson had enough knowledge of the way of the mind to plant suggestions that he was not a threat. Still, there were lots of people, and lots of firepower; even worse, the rampant negative emotions were unbalancing the living Force around him, and Jenson's concentration suffered. He sensed death, rage, fear, all the worst things about human nature, and it was threatening to completely unbalance him. Desperate to get somewhere he could find peace, Jenson forced his way through the crowd until finally, he broke free.

Sprinting away from the scene of destruction, Jenson got to a safe distance and slowed to a walk. Safe for the moment from threats external and internal, Jenson closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

"There is no emotion, there is peace," he said to himself, "There is ignorance, there is knowledge. There is no passion, there is serenity. There is no chaos, there is harmony. There is no death, there is the..." Before he could finish the last line of the Code, he sensed a disturbance in the Force. It was close, and it was strong; someone was in danger. He could feel their fear and their pain. Moving quickly, he made his way to the source of the disturbance. Turning a final corner, he saw it. It was a woman, a Wroonian, what age he didn't know, lying passed out on the ground.

"By the Force..." he said, rushing over. He knelt down and felt for a pulse; he found it, but it was not as strong as it should be. Jenson chewed his lip. He was not a healer, never had been. But, he had to do something. Reaching down, Jenson attempted to pull the young woman to a sitting position. Sending thoughts of peace and calm to her mind, he waited for her to awaken. When she did, he would look into her yellow-irised eyes with his purple-irised ones, concern etched on his face.

"You are badly injured," he would say, "What happened? What is your name?"

Talia for her part was, of course, quiet unaware of any of the goings on around her. She was more concerned about her immediate surroundings, that was until she lost conscious. At that point her concerns were lessened. Talia was lucky in so much as she had managed to get to the edge of the crowd and out of immediate trample range, as large crowds of people were not likely to be all that careful where they stepped, more so when a mob mentality had taken home, which was rapidly becoming the case here. The down side was, Talia was still laying on the ground and there were enough angry people about that it might not end well for her should they decide to get even more out of hand than they were at the moment.

When she was flipped over it would be clear that while she was older than Jenson, she had not reached middle age just yet. It would also be clear that despite being painful none of her wounds were likely to be life threatening. Although, it would be she wasn't going to be enjoying life all that much either. Due to either the force, the movement or a combination of the two, her eyes would open slowly after a few moments of Jenson's having discovered her. She jerked hard clearly not knowing who he was or why he was in fact there.

After a moment, it be came clear to her that he wasn't going to deliver a blaster bolt to the head, at least not yet. She cleared her throat for a moment before she spoke. Her voice came out some what raspy, though it was likely a side effect of laying on the ground for some time."Talia." She gave her name, trying to collect her thoughts before answering the last half of the question, or at least reply the best she could. "Mismanagement." She'd point out a little dryly. "People get angry when they don't have enough to eat." It was a short answer, but she wasn't feeling up for answering much more than that.

When the woman jerked, Jenson relaxed his hold slightly, sending more messages of peace to the woman's mind.

"Its ok," he said, voice low and even, "I'm here to help."

Well, she was alive, at least, and that soothed Jenson's fears. A closer examination of the young woman revealed that she was not in danger, at least from her wounds. Jenson was grateful, and his expression softened, but when he heard her name, it again became dire. Her next words solidified the feeling of foreboding in his heart. This woman, Talia, was a member of the noble family whose estate was currently being raided. If she were discovered here, the mob would descend on them like a tidal wave, and Jenson had no stomach for combat at the moment. Just being in the presence of so much destruction was straining him; if he actually had to ignite his saber and take a life, the direct unbalance might just overwhelm him completely.

"We must leave this place, now," he said, "I have a shuttle at the spaceport. The SIlver Jedi will protect you and give you healing. Do you think you can walk?"

She debated on rather or not she could walk. While she might have a few hair line breaks in her ribs, her legs weren't damaged and she felt like she could walk. She climbed slowly to her feet. She wasn't as steady on her feet as she could be, but she seemed to be able to walk to just fine. Stiff but able to move under her own power at least. While she might not be thrilled at the idea of going some where with some one she had just met, she was aware the other choice of staying where she was ,was not going to end well for her. He claimed to be a jedi and rather he was or not Talia has no idea however, whatever he was she was ready to risk it rather than being left behind on the side of the road, she was sure that would not end well for her, to say the least.

"I can walk." She said simply, not sure if she should be offended or not, but then she was sure she did not look like some one who was in good shape. Feeling slightly sheepish, she added. "I assure you, I look worse than it is." She hopped it was true.

Jenson's spirits rose as the woman was able to rise to her feet. She was dressed plainly, mostly in black. She must have been trying to escape when she was caught in the crowd. Jenson released her, but kept his hands out in case she needed to be steadied. She seemed stable enough. The woman said she could walk, and that it looked worse than it was, and Jenson took her word for it. After all, he was no healer.

"Quickly," he said, beginning to walk forward, "Follow me."

She was semi skilled at the act of walking "casual." Once on her feet she began to stroll as a person did when trying to casually get away from a crowd that might not have her best interests in mind. Of course she had no idea where it was she was going, so she had no choice but to allow allow Jenson to take the lead and hope he knew where the exit was, so to speak.

It wasn't too far of a walk to the local spaceport. The place was nearly empty, what with all the commotion, and few people in the impoverished city being able to afford a shuttle ticket. Jenson made his way through the halls until he reached the right hangar. He swiped a keycard and the door slid open to reveal a small, sleek, Silver Jedi shuttle.

"Come on," Jenson said, hurrying forward. The ramp opened with the press of a button and Jenson hurried up the ramp. Once the woman was inside, if she chose to follow him, he closed the ramp and made his way to the cockpit. No time to worry about clearance; Jenson transmitted the required release codes and the hangar doors slid open. He touched the throttles, and they were away, zooming into space. Once they were clear, Jenson made his way to the woman.

"We are safe now," he said, "Please, tell me what happened."

Talia had some idea of where they were heading. After all, she had been to the space port before, although she had rarely been there on foot. At least she knew where they were heading it gave her some sort of confidence of what was going on, although she still wasn't entirely sure of what the plan was, she was also sure that for now it would be better to wait for a moment and see what was going on before spilling her story, the street might be calm but one never knew who might be listening even by accident.

Once they entered the ship she was sure there would be questions, a fact Jenson confirmed when he began to ask her what happened. She did not have a reason not to tell him, and indeed it would be a long flight to ..wherever no doubt. Conversation deposit how unpleasant the conversation might be would make the time past, and she despite her guard being up had no reason to not tell him what happened, it was his ship she was on after all.

"I suppose people get angry when they don't have enough food and look for some one to blame. Although, if I have powers that allow me to control the weather I was certainly never informed of them." She said a little dryly. "However, people tend not to ask questions before they form lynch mobs so to speak. However, to be fair there were some parts of the situation which could have been handled better. A fact I am sure lead to things getting out of hand."

As he took the small shuttle into hyperspace, heading for the Silver Jedi headquarters on the planet Voss, Jenson listened to Talia's story. He understood her words; he had read about similar situations in his studies as an apprentice.

"How did you come to escape?" he asked, "And how did you come to be so injured?"

Talia took a moment to try to recall what happened. A lot of it was a blur, but her head was starting to clear, likely because she had been away from the events which had just befallen her. It would take her a moment to collect her thoughts enough to get them into order. "There were side doors." Which was true, she did recall being shoved out the side door before things got out of hand, which made it seem like luck was on her side, at least.

"As for how I escaped I made it out one of the doors with help from one of the staff. They didn't seem to care who came out of the house, after they decided to storm it, for lack of a better word. I suppose it was helpful, in so much as it allowed me to get to freedom."

Jenson nodded. The woman's story seemed believable; she was indeed a very lucky girl. Well, at least she was safe now, and that was what mattered. Leaving the ship to fly itself through hyperspace, Jenson swiveled his chair to face the girl more properly.

"You are very fortunate," he said, "Forgive me, I don't believe I introduced myself. I am Jenson, Jenson Koraz. Padawan of the Silver Jedi Order."

She debated on rather or not she was going to be better off where it was she was heading. On the plus side she wasn't lying in the street some where, on the other hand she was now on a ship going some where she had no idea where she was heading towards now. "I suppose so, not to sound ungrateful, because I am not, however, I would feel slightly better if I had some idea of where I was heading." She felt a little like she was probing a little too much. And while she was pleased to be away from there, she was on a ship going where she had no idea.

"Although, to be fair I suppose any where would be better than where I was formally." She had to admit with a thoughtful tilt to her head. "Lying on the street rarely ends well, if we're being honest."

Jenson nodded. The woman's uncertainty was understandable; their escape had been so quick that there had been no time to mention exactly where they were headed. Now, however, they were safe, and questions could be answered.

"We are headed to Voss, the home of my Order," he explained, "There you can find safety for as long as you require."

She had heard of Voss, vaguely, but knew nothing more about it other than it was a planet and that the locals were known to be a bit strange. Neither one of these made it stand out too much in her mind. This wasn't a bad thing given what she had just been through. She wouldn't complain too much about being some where off the beaten track so to speak. It would likely mean that there was likely a chance she could get some sort of chance to recover from what happened to her.

"I can't say I know much about Voss myself. Although, I do hear the natives tend to hold strange traditions." She gave a small sort of shrug. "Although there is nothing wrong with that, I suppose. It takes all sorts. Even if they do seem odd."

Jenson grinned. The Voss were indeed an interesting people, with unique traditions regarding the Force. They were strong, though, of mind, of will, and of body, and a truly fascinating people. Jenson had had some contact with them during his training.

"The Voss are interesting, to be sure," he said, swiveling back to the control panel, "Though somewhat wary of outsiders. Much like my own people, I would assume."

Talia's own people were apparently the most sociable group of people either on the ship or when compared to the jedi or the natives of Voss, such things happen. "I wouldn't know. Wroonians might be known for a number of things, being wary of outsiders usually is not one of them. Although, of course broad sweeping statements are rarely fair." She added, it would probably be a good thing to not offend people whose planet she was heading to. Although, the fact they hadn't burned anything down might speak well for them as a race.

"I'm sure they are interesting, at the very least." It was always a polite way to cover up when she didn't know much if anything about a subject. Normally. Assuming there were not any follow up questions she would have to lie her way out of.

Jenson nodded his agreement.

"Indeed," he said, "I was welcomed quite cordially upon my arrival, all things considered." It really had been a good welcome, the riot was an unfortunate side effect of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Again Jenson wished he could have been given leave to assist. If anything he might have at least been able to hold off the outbreak long enough to get the innocent off the planet. At that moment, Jenson yawned and felt his tiredness.

"This shuttle has bunks," he said, rising from his chair, "If you wish to sleep. We will arrive at Voss soon."

"I'm sure, I doubt you would have remained there if the welcome left you with some misgivings. After all, people rarely stay some where they aren't wanted assuming they have some choice in the matter." Not that she knew how jedi orders worked, but she assumed it would work much like anything else, if a person didn't wish to be there they would find some way to leave, orthodox or not.

"Sleep? Yes, it does sound like a good idea. It never hurts to arrive some where fresh and such."

It was a couple of hours later when the hyperspace exit warning beeped, awakening Jenson from his deep sleep. The Sorian rubbed his eyes and sat up, blinking sleep from his vision. He stood up from his bunk and walked to the cockpit, just in time to guide the shuttle smoothly out of hyperspace over Voss. He thought it best not to wake the young woman as he flew the shuttle into the Voss atmosphere and towards the Silver Jedi Enclave.
