Ashin Varanin

Professional Enabler
Intent: A memento of the successful Mandalorian Clans raid on the Republic's Kashyyyk shipyard.
Development Thread: None
Manufacturer: Clan Rekali, primarily Oren Rekali; design concept by Draco Vereen
Model: N/A
Affiliation: Personal - [member="Draco Vereen"], [member="Melina Tervho"], [member="Alec Rekali"], [member="Sko'saht"], [member="Brent Warnel"], [member="Ijaat Mereel"], [member="Buruk Surhaai"], [member="Funky Balor"], [member="Babasa Ghryntel"], [member="Caspian Rekali"], [member="Ava Lok"], [member="Viscous Thorn"], [member="Mira Rekali"], [member="Hype Darkwater"], plus a handful of other rings for future rewards.
Modularity: No
Production: Semi-unique
Material: Mandalorian steel

Strengths:
  • Allows comprehension of spoken and written Shyriwook, the primary Wookiee language. Spoken and written Shyriwook is perceived as Mando'a, the Mandalorian language.
Weaknesses:
  • Does not, by default, allow the wearer to speak Shyriwook.
  • Worse than useless if worn by someone who does not speak fluent Mando'a.
  • Extended use (i.e. several hours with a lot of Wookiee words) incurs migraines.

Description: A Shyriwook translation ring is a minor version of a standard Sith talisman of translation. It makes spoken and written Shyriwook, the most well-known Wookiee language, comprehensible in Mando'a, the language of the Mandalorians. As with most works of alchemy, the translation rings exact a cost: extended use (meaning focusing on the language being translated) will cause powerful headaches. These rings work regardless of whether the wearer is Force-sensitive or not, though they do not work for droids or Force-dead individuals, nor within the influence of ysalamiri or void stone. The rings are plain bands of euk'gar. Each ring is sized to be worn over the gauntlet of a suit of beskar'gam, either welded on or magnetically clamped.

These rings were created by Clan Rekali's Witch-crafters and Vahla alchemists, under the direction of Oren Rekali, and based on a concept by Draco Vereen. The rings are mementos of the Mandalorian Clans' successful raid on Republic-controlled Kashyyyk. Under the tactical direction of Draco Vereen, and using a plan concocted by Alec Rekali, the Mandalorians stole one of the Republic's major shipyards. It was a glorious battle and a successful operation in every sense, and deserved a keepsake to remember it by.

There was, of course, a more practical purpose to the creation of the rings -- two, in fact. For one, although the stolen shipyard was mainly Republic rather than Wookiee, enough Shyriwook writing was involved in labels, signage, manuals and systems that a quick translation mechanism came in handy. For another thing, nothing patches up relations with a marginalized species like doing your best to understand their language. The Kashyyyk shipyard raid was against the Republic, not the Wookiee government or population. Best not to burn that particular bridge unnecessarily.

Primary Source: A minor adaptation of this and this.

you would need to list what posts pertain to this tech. As it doesn't need any Dev could you just remove this.
