OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

  • Intent: To create a rare, Force-sensitive Sithspawn drawing on the traits of Dreambeasts and Rhak-Skuri, engineered as mobile, mid-tier aerial predators for Sithspawn strike forces. Designed for RP as a hybridized terror unit whose origins trace back to the same Sith alchemical roots as the Silan, making them dangerous battlefield disruptors with a unique blend of psychological and elemental attacks.

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Shriekflame Revenant
  • Designation: Semi-Sentient
  • Origins: Ession, Alchemy Lab, Nyx Geneaova, Delsin Shaw
  • Estimated Population: Rare
  • Description: The Shriekflame Revenant is a tall, unnervingly thin Sithspawn, standing at roughly 2.6 meters when upright. Though it almost never truly "stands." Instead, it hovers just above the ground, suspended in a slow, deliberate drift that makes it feel more specter than flesh. Its body is elongated and gaunt, with wiry muscle stretched taut over a semi-bony frame, reminiscent of the Silan's skeletal proportions but designed for more aggressive movement and aerial maneuvering.

The head is narrow and elongated, sheathed in a smooth, chitinous mask-like skull plate that flares slightly at the sides like the hood of a cobra. This mask hides the creature's true mouth. A jagged, vertical maw lined with serrated fangs and resonating chambers. When the Revenant screams, this plated mask splits subtly along organic seams, revealing flashes of flesh and bone while expelling waves of concussive sound.

The torso is alien in its symmetry, with ridged bone and hardened cartilage tracing down the sternum like a natural armor plate. From the shoulders extend vast membranous "wing" flaps. Not true wings for flight, but massive folds of heat-resistant, semi-translucent flesh that can catch light in rippling patterns. These membranes seem almost fluid, flowing in slow undulations even in still air, creating a hypnotic, ghostly visual distortion around the creature. Within their layered tissue run faint bioluminescent veins that pulse dimly when it gathers energy for its lightning or flame projections. Its arms are long, with forelimbs tapering into talon-like, elongated fingers. Not designed for heavy grappling but sharp enough to rake flesh or hook into surfaces. These arms house elemental discharge nodes, gland-like sacs that store volatile alchemical fluids and charged Dark Side energy. When ignited by the creature's will, these can vent outwards as streams of searing fire or arcs of lightning that dance along the membranes.

The lower half of the Revenant's body narrows into hooked, chitin-plated legs, their clawed, reverse-jointed structure allowing it to latch onto walls, ceilings, or rocky outcroppings like a predator in wait. These legs are more often tucked beneath its drifting form, used as sudden raking weapons when prey comes too close. The skin itself is an unnatural blend of textures: smooth and almost glassy along the armored ridges, but stretched thin and leathery over the ribs and limbs. The color varies between ashen gray, charred black, and deep maroon, often with a faint oily sheen. In dim light, the edges of its form seem to blur and ripple. Making it appear slightly insubstantial until it strikes.

Most unsettling of all is its presence. The Dreambeast heritage manifests in subtle movements. A slow tilting of the head, a silent glide forward, paired with a faint psychic pressure in the air, like the sensation of being watched in a nightmare. This aura grows stronger the longer it remains unseen, making encounters with the Shriekflame Revenant as much a mental battle as a physical one.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I
  • Average Height of Adults: 2.6 Meters
  • Average Length of Adults: N/A
  • Skin color: Ashen gray, bone-white, scorched black, or maroon
  • Hair color: N/A
  • Distinctions: Radiates an instinctive, Force-aided psychic disturbance that causes unease, confusion, and dread in nearby prey. Growing stronger when the creature is unseen. Movements are unnervingly smooth and unpredictable, as if its body exists slightly out of sync with reality; edges of its form shimmer, giving it a ghostly quality. Shares skeletal structure and latent sensory adaptations with Silan, including exceptional perception of movement and Force presence. Flesh-grown "robes" serve as both an intimidation display and a channel for flame projection. Gland-like organs in its arms and chest can vent Dark Side energy as flame or lightning. A hidden mouth in its plated skull can unleash disorienting sonic bursts, capable of shattering concentration or balance. Maintains a hover of 0.3–0.5 meters above ground, able to drift and reposition effortlessly.
  • Force Sensitivity: All. Low degree (instinctive, untrained).
Strengths:
  • Multi-Layered Fear Induction - The Revenant's most insidious advantage is the way it attacks the mind before the body. The Dreambeast genetic contribution allows it to radiate a low-frequency psychic pressure that stimulates primal fear centers in most sentient brains. This is not mere intimidation. Its aura operates like a slow-acting poison, building anxiety, unease, and dread over time until prey begins making mistakes. The Rhak-Skuri pheromone glands, embedded near the thoracic cavity and along the forelimbs, release a tailored chemical cocktail into the air. These pheromones are absorbed through skin and respiratory systems, bypassing conscious thought to elicit fear, paranoia, or panic responses. The two effects feed each other. Once a target begins feeling nervous from the pheromones, the psychic pressure amplifies those feelings exponentially. In squads, this results in fracturing of trust and coordination before a shot is ever fired.
  • Elemental Versatility - Unlike many Sithspawn with a single specialized weapon, the Revenant can fluidly alternate between fire, lightning, and sonic disruption without pausing to "switch modes." Specialized alchemical organs, called conflagration nodes, rest along the forearms and chest cavity. These store volatile alchemical fluids, which, when mixed with focused Dark Side energy, ignite into streams of high-temperature flame capable of melting durasteel plating at close range. In parallel, bio-electrical "arc sacs" store and amplify electrical charge, allowing the Revenant to hurl jagged bolts of Sith lightning that can arc between clustered enemies or disable unshielded machinery. This combination means that defensive measures against one form of attack (e.g., heat shielding) will still leave opponents vulnerable to another. The result is a combatant that can exploit nearly any weakness in enemy armor or formations.
  • Sonic Disruption - The Revenant's plated skull masks a horrific secondary mouth lined with resonating cartilage ridges, functioning as a living sonic cannon. When it opens, the inner chambers vibrate at tuned frequencies. Some designed to disrupt balance and spatial awareness, others to damage electronic circuits or even fracture brittle materials. At close range, these screams can rupture eardrums and cause vertigo. Against Force-users, the sudden psychic-laced concussive blast can break concentration mid-ability, leaving them open to follow-up strikes. The sound is also psychologically damaging. Its frequency range is deliberately tuned to resemble distorted human or alien screams, feeding into its terror effect.
  • Hovering Mobility - The Revenant maintains a steady hover of 0.3–0.5 meters through a combination of Force-assisted levitation and natural anatomical buoyancy. This makes it silent over most terrain. No footfalls, no crunching debris. Perfect for approaching prey undetected. It can float over hazardous terrain such as lava flows, acid pools, or traps designed for ground units, making it frustrating to corral. This hovering also allows it to shift directions mid-air with unnatural precision, gliding sideways or backward in ways that break the expectations of bipedal opponents. In urban or shipboard environments, it can drift around corners or through breached hulls without losing line-of-sight on its target.
  • Ambush Predator Tactics - Borrowing the Silan's sensory acuity, the Revenant perceives subtle changes in movement, thermal patterns, and even ripples in the Force itself. This allows it to pick out officers, squad leaders, Jedi, or sensitive individuals in a chaotic battle and single them out for removal. It uses its vertical maneuverability to position above or behind key targets, often staying in blind spots until the precise moment to strike. It rarely engages head-on unless it has already unbalanced the prey mentally or physically, preferring sudden, overwhelming ambushes that leave no time for counteraction.
  • Psychological Warfare Role - The Shriekflame Revenant is not built to win battles through attrition. It wins them by causing the enemy to defeat themselves. When deployed ahead of heavy Sithspawn units, it can break the enemy's cohesion so badly that incoming shock troopers face disorganized resistance rather than coordinated defense. Its terror effects are particularly effective against poorly trained militias or conscripts, but even seasoned troops can be fractured when their chain of command is disrupted. This makes the Revenant a "softener" unit. What it cannot kill, it prepares for others to finish.
  • Environmental Adaptability - Its heat-resistant membranes allow it to function in extreme environments where organic enemies, and even many droids, struggle. Volcanic battlefields, starship engine rooms, industrial furnaces, or worlds with extreme thermal cycles pose no disadvantage. Its clawed legs and wall-clinging talons make it an excellent urban predator, as comfortable in the rafters of a hangar as it is in a mountain pass.
  • Synergy with Other Sithspawn - The Revenant was deliberately designed to complement existing Sithspawn tactics. In a mixed deployment, the Revenant is the advance wave. Sowing confusion and panic. While larger, heavily armored beasts crash into the disrupted formation moments later. Against fortifications, the Revenant's sonic attacks can disorient defenders just long enough for siege units to breach. This combined-arms synergy makes it a dangerous force multiplier.
Weaknesses:
  • Low Physical Durability - Despite its terrifying abilities, the Revenant's frame is lightly built and not meant to withstand prolonged punishment. While its chitin plating can deflect glancing blaster bolts, sustained fire will tear through its thin musculature and leathery skin. Heavy ordnance, grenades, or even concentrated melee strikes from physically strong opponents can cripple or kill it outright. Its hovering movement means it lacks the rooted stability to absorb impacts well. Direct hits often knock it off-balance.
  • Limited Force Skillset - Its Force sensitivity is raw and instinctive, not trained or refined. It cannot maintain complex Force shields, manipulate large objects with telekinesis, or sense subtle precognitive danger with Jedi-like clarity. This means that highly skilled Force-users can outmatch it in direct duels, provided they can endure its initial psychological onslaught.
  • Close-Quarters Fragility - While it possesses claws and can fight in melee if cornered, its limbs are long and lightly muscled, better suited for slashing and retreating than grappling. Its leg joints are reverse-bent for climbing, but vulnerable, well-placed strikes can cripple its mobility. If an opponent gets past its elemental arsenal into direct physical engagement, its survival odds drop sharply.
  • Energy Drain from Elemental Attacks - The Revenant's conflagration nodes and arc sacs are high-output but low-capacity. Continuous flame projection beyond ten seconds causes dangerous internal overheating, while repeated lightning discharges rapidly deplete its bio-electrical reserves. Once depleted, it requires several minutes to recharge to full potency, during which it is far less dangerous. Overexertion can even damage its own membranes, causing self-inflicted burns.
  • Over-Reliance on Stealth and Surprise - Its entire battle doctrine hinges on ambush and psychological shock. If the enemy is forewarned, operating in bright, open terrain, or equipped with high-visibility scanning equipment, the Revenant's fear projection loses much of its impact. When stripped of the element of surprise, it must rely on its raw combat abilities. Which are formidable but not overwhelming without the preceding terror buildup.
  • Pheromone Limitation - The Rhak-Skuri-derived pheromone dispersal system is potent but environmentally sensitive. Wind, rain, or large open spaces disperse the chemical cloud too quickly for it to build to effective levels. Enemies equipped with sealed helmets, filtration masks, or internal oxygen supplies are entirely immune to the chemical component, leaving only the psychic pressure to work with.
  • Noise Signature in Aggression Mode - When the Revenant commits to attack, its sonic screams, membrane vibrations, and elemental discharges create a loud, distinctive signature. While this is useful for intimidation, it also makes it easy to triangulate in combat. Once located, focused fire or area-of-effect weaponry can drive it back or kill it outright.
  • Psychological Pushback - Its overwhelming mental presence is a double-edged sword. While effective against most opponents, it creates a distinct "rippling" disturbance in the Force that skilled Jedi, Sith, or Force adepts can track across great distances. This makes it nearly impossible for the creature to remain hidden from high-level Force-users for long.
  • Limited Endurance - The Revenant is a sprinter, not a marathon runner. Its alchemical enhancements allow for bursts of speed, power, and terror, but these cannot be maintained indefinitely. Extended firefights, drawn-out chases, or prolonged defensive stands quickly sap its reserves, leaving it sluggish and increasingly vulnerable.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Carnivore; prefers fresh kills but can survive on raw meat for weeks. Consuming sentient prey heightens its fear-projection abilities temporarily.
  • Communication: High-pitched warbles, body posture shifts, pheromone signaling, and occasional low-level telepathic impressions toward handlers.
  • Technology level: None; relies on instincts and environmental adaptation.
  • Religion/Beliefs: None; operates under conditioning and alchemical programming.
  • General behavior: The Shriekflame Revenant's general behavior is defined by its predatory patience, psychological manipulation, and an almost ritualistic hunting pattern designed to unnerve prey long before the killing strike. In the wild, or in battlefield deployments, it does not charge recklessly into combat like many Sithspawn. Instead, it lingers at the periphery, drifting in and out of sight, letting its fear-projection aura and pheromonal emissions saturate the air. The creature seems to delight in letting dread fester, often trailing its quarry silently for minutes or even hours, maintaining visual pressure while never fully committing to an attack. When deployed alongside other Sithspawn, the Revenant's role is that of a harbinger. It strikes first in subtle ways, using its sonic scream to fracture cohesion in enemy ranks, or unleashing sudden arcs of Sith lightning to single out high-value targets. It frequently avoids direct melee unless its prey is already disoriented or isolated, preferring to hover above or behind cover and deliver firebursts or electrical discharges from unexpected angles. Its movements are deliberate and unnerving—pauses mid-air, sudden tilts of the head, slow rotations of its membranous "wings." Creating a hypnotic, almost spectral presence that keeps foes guessing. Even when not actively attacking, the Revenant exerts a constant psychological pressure, maintaining an atmosphere of impending doom that wears down morale over time. Only when the enemy's fear reaches its peak does the Shriekflame Revenant descend, striking with swift, surgical brutality before retreating back into shadow and smoke, leaving survivors rattled and vulnerable for the next wave of Sithspawn to overwhelm.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Shriekflame Revenant was born from one of Delsin Shaw's more calculated and methodical forays into Sithspawn development. A project that was never intended to produce a simple killing machine, but a precision tool for breaking the minds of enemies before their bodies were touched. The initial concept emerged from battlefield analysis during Shaw's campaigns, where he noted that certain engagements were won not by the sheer strength of his forces, but by the moments when enemy cohesion collapsed into panic. While his heavier creations, the juggernauts and siege-class Sithspawn. could decimate fortifications and crush resistance head-on, they lacked the ability to induce collapse before impact. Delsin sought to engineer a predator that could act as the psychological vanguard for his armies, a living nightmare that would unravel enemy morale from the inside out, setting the stage for larger, slower units to arrive against already-broken defenders. The Dreambeast was selected as the project's core inspiration, not merely for its fear-projection ability but for the way it stalked prey. Silently, patiently, and with an almost theatrical cruelty. Delsin was fascinated by the idea of a creature whose mere presence could seed defeat in the minds of its victims before battle was truly joined.

To give that fear projection a physical edge, he incorporated genetic and glandular elements from the Rhak-Skuri, whose potent pheromonal emissions could chemically short-circuit rational thought. By layering the Dreambeast's psychic aura over the Rhak-Skuri's chemical influence, the Revenant's attacks would not simply frighten an enemy. They would create confusion, paranoia, and disorder in even disciplined troops. The Silan was then chosen as the skeletal and sensory template, for its lightweight but durable frame and preternatural ability to perceive movement and Force signatures in chaotic environments. This granted the Revenant a predator's eye for priority targets. Officers, medics, and Force-users could be picked out and neutralized at the precise moment their loss would cause the most disruption. Into this triad of inherited traits, Delsin poured additional alchemical and Force-based augmentations: membrane-like "wings" able to channel elemental attacks, a hidden resonating mouth for sonic bursts, and an anatomically integrated hover system to grant it ghost-like movement over varied terrain. In every choice, Delsin's intention was the same. Maximize the creature's ability to create chaos and fear while keeping its physical body quick, adaptable, and hard to pin down.

For Delsin Shaw personally, the Shriekflame Revenant was not just another weapon in his bestiary, but a manifestation of his philosophy on warfare. Where many Sith relish direct confrontation and overwhelming force, Delsin prized control—the ability to dictate the shape and tempo of a battle before it even began. To him, the Revenant represented the perfect opening move, a living embodiment of inevitability. Once unleashed, it would stalk the edges of the enemy's vision, an unshakable shadow that made every soldier question whether they were being hunted. In his mind, victory was not truly about numbers or firepower. It was about ensuring that, by the time the killing blow landed, the enemy no longer believed they could win. The Shriekflame Revenant was his answer to that truth: a carefully sculpted instrument of dread that, to Delsin, was as much an artist's creation as a general's weapon. Its success on the battlefield meant more to him than simple efficiency; it was proof of concept, a living testament to his belief that terror, when sharpened to a fine edge, is the most decisive weapon of all.
