Shielding Commenor

Kay sat in her office in he Presidential Palace. Not behind her desk but on one of the comfy chairs by the fireplace, datapad in one hand and a cup of tea in the other. It was towards the end of the evening, the skies outside growing dark. She had sent a message to [member="Lord Sin"] to see her at his earliest convenience. But that was earlier today and he had yet to arrive. Would he come today? It was difficult to say. But she would stay awake for a little while longer, just in case he did show.

She scoured through some of the files on her datapad, once again stopping at the one relating to the new planetary defence system ( http://starwarsrp.net/topic/90017-ty-400-defense-satellite/ ) that she wanted to have built and set up. There was lots of training involved and endless maintenance and supply runs needed. But fortunately, Commenor was full of supplies and transports. It was a large undertaking, but with the right people, it could be done quickly. Of course that was just one step in protecting the trade world, but it was a good start. Hopefully she would have the right help or at the very least, get some strategic advice.

[member="Lady Kay"] had invited him to Commenor, her planet into which she was now watching over, and Romeo was almost certain why she wanted him there. He had still yet to leave to the new galaxy, had yet to build the things he needed. Why? Cause he needed a dovan basil. This would allow him to travel quickly, and safely to the new discovery. But he despised the idea of using Vong tech. It was against the laws of nature, and the Force. When Romeo made it to planet side, he did not bring a Star Destroyer with him, no it was just a small freighter.

A few minutes later, Romeo was at the door to her office, and gave it a soft knock while Frecker stood next to him in the Blood Armor.

"Kay, I hope you are decent, I am coming in."

Romeo spoke out loud, and opened the door with Frecker following behind him.

Kay was decent of course. This was her office, not her bed chambers. She wouldn't dare walk around in her nightgown just because of times like these, when people arrive at a late hour for a meeting.

She set her datapad and tea down on the coffee table as she got to her feet, bowing her head to [member="Lord Sin"] and Frecker. "Thank you for coming on such short notice. I hope that I didn't interrupt anything of great importance."

Given the strangeness of their last parting, she wasn't quite sure how to act. Best to keep it all business.

Romeo smiled brightly, and bowed before the woman as well. He believed bowing was a sign of respect, the same as a handshake, a hug, or other signs of importance. In his eyes, bowing did not belittle a person like other Sith Lord's may have seen it. The Vahla could feel the uneasiness of [member="Lady Kay"], maybe she thought she had interrupted his plans, but this was not the case.

"My lady, I always have time for you. Please, this is your office, here you are the boss and I shall respect that to it's fullest."

Understanding that this had to be important, Romeo put on his business face. Government was involved no less, or something of similar importance. Otherwise, Kay would not have bothered to send for him. Not that he would have cared if she just wanted to sit and drink while chatting either.

Kay invited them both to sit in the chairs, though she wasn't quite certain if Frecker would do so or just stand guard. Either way, she sat back down in her chair and picked up the datapad, holding it in hand for a moment while she spoke.

"Thank you. I asked you here because, well, you have the kind of mind and way of thinking that I don't. I've been going through the Ministers here and removing the corrupt ones. Sadly, there were plenty. Commenor is not the same as it was when I was it's Senator. Crime Lords have established a foothold here and I am working on different strategies on getting them out. That's my internal problem. War is breaking out everywhere in our sector and nearby. I have been told that if the Sith lose control over this part of the Galaxy, then numerous factions would come to try to gain control. There are a number of Embassies being built here too with many dignitaries that will be coming and going. So if anyone wanted to try to start a war, then they merely need to send a small army or assassin. I'm not so sure if I can trust our General. But I trust you. If you can spare the time, then I would like it very much if you could be my Minister of Defence."

As she spoke, it was clear that the Imperial state of mind was still in Romeo's mind set. Already he was beginning to come up with plans and strategies on removing the crime lords, building ships to protect Commenor, and what kind of army it would take to protect it's people. Frecker had moved over to a window, his mind ignoring the conversation, and instead his focus on the area around them, searching for danger. This was how well Romeo trained his people. Always thinking a few steps ahead.

Corrupt, though, was something Romeo was not. He was brutally honest. He hid nothing.

"Frecker, tell the team we are pushing back the plans on the discovery some. We have important work to do here. As far as I am concerned, Kay, my system is perfectly safe. Whether the Sanctum comes, or the Crusaders, I am willing to band with either of them, though for my own reasons that are...not of your taste. I can spare more than enough to protect Commenor and it's people. If you feel this is where you want me...I accept this position."

Kay clenched her jaw as [member="Lord Sin"] mentioned the Crusaders. And he would band with them? The very ones that attacked her sector recently and slaughtered babies and children, targeting them while neither planet or it's people had caused any harm to them at all? That could pose a bit of a problem if the Crusaders came to Commenor. But she'll cross that bridge when they came to it.

In the meantime, there were more pressing matters. "Thank you. I'll owe you for this." She held out the datapad for him. On the screen was the schematics for the planetary shielding."I'm working on getting our shipyards up and running again. Plus we have been given these. Though we don't have the manpower to run that as well as our military, we will in time with more recruitment. The Raxian Empire has pledged a fleet for us to monitor the area, and the First Order hinted at that as well. But we can't be entirely reliant on others. Things change and we have to be prepared to stand on our own two feet."

Romeo only smiled, he knew the Crusaders were doing things even he would not be okay with, but with them on his side, there would be a lot he could accomplish. As he was handed the datapad, Frecker had already went outside to do as he was ordered. The Vahla's eyes skimmed through the details, astonished that the woman had gotten this much already done. With his hands over this, much of this could be completed in no time. Romeo had the Eclipse Police working on the rebellion on his own planet, and soon it would be over, not much was left of the rebels.

"Oh how the irony sings in this Kay...".

The First Order was just as bad as the One Sith, in fact, they were allies. But then again, Romeo was a Sith. What was the difference here? Romeo was happy with what he had. Still...more chances to get in good with a group with some information worth knowing.

"I can immediately have frigates and corvettes made for Commenor. What you probably never realize, [member="Lady Kay"], that by owning half of all my companies, you could have easily made ships and gain troops to supply protection for your planet. When I can have a sizable fleet made, they will belong to Commenor and it's people."

A chuckle escaped his mouth as he read the datapad.

"It's true...you are not a general...and you are decently not Imperial. I can also have the Shadowyard begin constructing Commenor's own shipyard and hand over the schematics of the new frigates and corvettes to them so we wont have to rely on Eclipstica or the Dynasty for this, though the Dynasty can provide things as far an alliance goes, if you would accept one that is."

"Yes, I realize that I can utilize the companies and gather everything that we need in a short amount of time. But as I said, we need to be able to stand on our own two feet. I won't be President for a long time, so I'd lie to be sure that Commenor would be able to protect itself with the next administration. We have old shipyards that just need to be upgraded and brought back into working order. Any ships brought in in the meantime are only to be borrowed. I'm not going to institute a draft, but instead want a recruitment drive."

She picked up her tea and had a sip. "All of this cannot impede the trade going in and out. Yet our screenings need to be brought back to what they were. Illegal goods and spices, even slavery has found it's way here. I want to make it the way that it was, before the deregulations and bribery."

Kay stopped speaking for a moment and drew her thoughts inward. Every time she tried to be proactive against anyone that threatened herself or Commenor, her plan would backfire. She hoped that this wouldn't turn out the same way.

[member="Lord Sin"]

[member="Lady Kay"] was in the right place of mind with all this, and he understood that he could make decisions she could not. The woman was not weak, not, she was strong, and a powerful influence, she just had her heart on her sleeve. Sin, did not. Looking over the data he was given, he stood up immediately. There was something that needed to be started, and started now.

"As my first act as Minister of Defense of Commenor, I would like to order that the planetary shielding be started at the soonest. With a borrowed fleet coming, and with my ability to go ahead and craft ships specifically made for Commenor and Commenor only....this is priority number one."

He understood that Commenor had allies, but the enemies were more than what they could handle. The shielding would buy amble time should the need arise. Romeo also had an idea to begin building planetary defense batteries in key locations, but he would need more on the planet and it's major locations.

"And with you permission, I would also like to place defense batteries around the planet."

Kay looked up as [member="Lord Sin"] got to his feet. At least he was eager and they were more or less on the same page. "Yes, the planetary shielding should be the first on the agenda. And as for the defence batteries...permission granted. I'll have the paperwork drawn up for the supply and transport companies to help maintain the shielding stations. And I'll also issue a press conference to ensure the Commenori that we are not at war, but only need to be prepared. With what had happened recently in our sector, it should not cause any alarm. I will also include in it about the growing number of Embassies and visiting dignitaries."

That should help things smooth over. Hopefully. It was always better to be prepared for the worst. Yet even when she did just that, there always came surprises.
