COMPOSITION INFORMATION
  • Army Size: Medium/Large (TBD)
  • Composition: The rank-and-file infantrymen of the Shakukaar vary wildly in culture and tactics from regiment to regiment, but there are a few common factors. Each Shakukaar regiment is charged with defending the planet or system to which they are assigned, every soldier is required to be intimately familiar with the area in which they are stationed, and with very rare exception, every soldier is either a native resident of the planet or an otherwise long-standing member of the community. Despite this wide diversity, the bureaucrats charged with handling inter-regimental logistics and record keeping have concocted a number of broad classifications into which a given planetary regiment might fall.
    • Urban Regiment: Regiments operating on heavily industrialized planets and ecumenopolei are by necessity specialists in urban warfare. Such regiments tend to be decentralized in the extreme, often without any single easily identifiable commanding officer. Urban Regiments tend to eschew heavy use of mechanized infantry, walkers, and the like, and instead often employ guerilla tactics. The Ventruunian Street Rats are archetypal of this Regimental class, and have displayed a deep fondness for ambushing, booby traps, sabotage, terrorism, and similar tactics that other militaries often deride as "dishonorable," "cowardly," "criminal," or "ethically monstrous."
    • Void Regiment: When a planet is too valuable for warfare to reach its surface or a regiment has multiple celestial bodies to defend, that regiment often specializes in void warfare. A Void Regiment excels in, predictably, void warfare, and make heavy use of starships, orbital defense stations, and boarding parties in their defense of their charge. The Greeve Roughnecks, drawn from the high-gravity agri-world of the same name, are a typical example of a Void Regiment, and are noted for a regimental culture that lionizes the exploits of units engaged in small-group tactics, such as starfighter squadrons and boarding troops.
