Setting A High Bar

Force Praxeum of Commenor, Courtyard

Standing in the courtyard of what was perceived to be their new home for the force only knew how long Vlarem looked up to the overcast sky, above the rumble of thunder traversed the sky as though a battle was being waged. The blueish crack of lightning was witnessed as a bolt traversed from one cloud to another. Despite the storm brewing, the wind that whipped at his bare torso and whistled in his ears Vlarem loved the temple. Providence was an adequate home for the Jedi but living aboard the ship with its small gardens and trees was nothing like being back on a planet. Feeling the hum of the force as it lived within all things, the plants that provided them food and oxygen, the dirt in which Vlarem stood on and the fresh air he breathed in. Sighing at peace Vlarem lowered his arms which had been spread out to his sides. Many of the other Jedi and Commenor knights had returned in doors in preparation for the coming storm but Vlarem had stayed, not just to be one with nature and the force but awaiting his first duel against another Jedi.

War was forever on the horizon for the Jedi, they could wish for peace, they could even crave and strive for it but it would always find them. A millenia-year-old feud that pit the light against the dark, where millions, possibly billions had been forced to suffer and millions more would in the coming days, months, even years. With such a grim future on the horizon Vlarem needed to be prepared, to be trained to combat those who would strike out against the innocent or the Jedi. While no stranger to combat Vlarem wasn’t a Master, his weapon of choice left him at a disadvantage against the numerous saber users in the galaxy and as such hence why he’d asked Romi for this meeting. One to not only test himself and learn but perhaps aid the Jedi knight if she had the misfortune of meeting one with similar skills to Vlarem on the battlefield.

Wearing the Mandalorian Crushgaunts, Vlarem was content with dealing open palmed blows for the sparring session, he did not wish to injure Romi, though he doubted he would. She was the more experienced of the two, Vlarem was actually excited for the coming battle though it did not show on his face. The only sign of Vlarem’s joy was how he bounced on the balls of his feet in anticipation.

"Excited?"

The soft hum of her voice would reach forth from behind the Falleen. He'd see her figure standing slightly above him, there was an incline present from the steps. Her right eyebrow rose, present over a smirk. She proceeded down the steps to reach him on even footing, but of course his stature was much larger than her, and so now she looked up to him. Her feet planted, she propped her hands up on her waist.

"Vlarem...always good to see you. You wanted a sparring partner?"

Well there weren't too many of them, and she'd come to know most of the students at least on a first name basis by now. It was always good to see them progressing, because given the circumstances they were growing at a steady pace. More than soon they'd have a fresh batch of Knight ready for the coming storm.

Thunder.

She looked towards the sky, and saw the clouds twisting and welling up; A storm. "Only you would want to train in such a scenario...I respect your dedication."

Smirking at hearing the words of Romi, Vlarem couldn’t help but chuckle and shake his head. Of course he was, as much as he wished to deny it and claim himself to be a Jedi, Vlarem enjoyed combat. He loved being at one with nature, feeling it respond to him with each move he made, how the force filled his very body and charged him with what felt like an electric energy and guided his hands. “I could say the same to you Master Jade.” Bowing to the Jedi council member, Vlarem stood straight back up. While many years Romi’s elder the Falleen had to admire how far the woman had come in her life. To have become a Jedi knight at such a young age had to be an accomplishment, more so to be sitting on the Jedi Council alongside Grandmaster Veiere. “And to answer your question I do in fact wish for a sparring partner, I have a feeling that battle is on the horizon. I know we should not initiate combat but I don’t think the other powers in the galaxy will let us have peace. There will always be a world to defend or save. Always someone in need, always sith seeking our destruction. I just wish to be ready and think that everyone else should wish for the same.”

Following Romi’s gaze up to the clouds Vlarem found himself smiling, Romi knew the strange habits of the Falleen such as how he’d taken up residence in the forest surrounding the temple instead of inside. “Of course, more people should just sit back and experience it. Just feel the storm, not the damage it brings but also the benefits, the water that nourishes the plants for example.” Sighing Vlarem leveled his gaze back to the Jedi knight. “So you ready to start this or want to just stare at the storm all day and muse on the force? Isn’t that what Jedi do?”
