SETHRAN SOLIVAR

Age:
30
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Height: 186cm
Weight: 88kg
Force Sensitive: He is a Jedi Knight.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

He stands around 186 cm tall with a lean athletic build that looks earned rather than sculpted. He carries himself straight and steady rarely fidgeting. His dark brown hair is usually a little unkempt with faint streaks of silver at the temples. A longer slightly wild beard frames a rugged face marked by a few old scars with a faint line across the bridge of his nose being the most noticeable. His eyes are a cool gray blue.

INVENTORY

He has a set of Jedi robes with some basic gray/silver plastoid plates for added protection. He carries a teal lightsaber, and sometimes a blaster just in case.

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Sethran is calm, deliberate and quietly intense, carrying himself with a steady confidence that rarely wavers. He listens more than he speaks and when he does speak it is measured, thoughtful and difficult to dismiss. He believes deeply in compassion but sees it as something that must be acted upon rather than simply discussed. Though respectful of tradition he is not blindly loyal to it and is willing to question doctrine if he believes it no longer serves the greater good. Beneath his composed exterior he carries a persistent drive to see the Order improve and a quiet frustration if it hesitates in the face of injustice.

STRENGTHS

  1. Strategic Patience: He thinks long term. On the battlefield he watches for patterns before committing. In discussions he listens fully before speaking. He rarely makes impulsive choices and often sees consequences others miss.
  2. Emotional Discipline: He does not react quickly or recklessly. He can feel anger frustration or fear but he does not let those emotions control his decisions. This makes him extremely difficult to manipulate and very steady in both combat and political debates.

WEAKNESSES

  1. Quiet Stubbornness: Once he reaches a moral conclusion he is very difficult to move. He presents it calmly but he does not bend easily. This can isolate him politically and strain relationships with more traditional Jedi.
  2. Carries Responsibility Too Deeply: When missions fail or people die he takes it personally even if it was beyond his control. He does not show it outwardly but he carries guilt privately which can wear on him over time.

HISTORY

Born on Jelucan, Sethran grew up in a time when the planet understood an uneasy balance between pressure and prosperity. Its proximity to major galactic powers, and involvement in them, created tension along the trade routes nearby, necessitating strict security measures and political decisions that were often based on fear. He grew up in one of the lower industrial tiers where order was maintained by either the corporate guilds or gangs rather than the government. His father was a systems engineer who oversaw power grid distribution while his mother served as a freelance crewmember on freight carriers along the Hydian Way. Often, he was left alone when not in school, and his interactions with other children and adults in his neighborhood gave him an early education on the fragility of stability, and on the tenuous nature of life itself.

He wasn’t aware of his Force sensitivity for quite some time. To him, the ability to understand when a situation was about to turn dark or the intentions of others was just something he naturally possessed. When tensions started to flare between a corporate-backed security force and a gang, he felt the impending danger before it happened. He’d been playing a game of starline toss, where several concentric circles were drawn on the ground and he and the other kids took turns tossing pieces of scrap into the circle, aiming for the highest score, when he felt it. Acting on instinct, he grabbed several of those near him and ushered them towards the nearest alley before going back for the others and leading them somewhere safe. Amidst the chaos of the ensuing battle, a Jedi who happened to be visiting the world felt Sethran’s clarity even as the other children were wrought by fear. The Jedi sought him out, and then spoke with his parents, convincing them that he would be best served by a life amongst the Jedi.

What Sethran wanted was never asked of him. His parents saw an opportunity to get him away from danger, at least in their eyes, and took it. Temple life itself was a struggle for him, as a result. Oh, he did fine with the levels of discipline and study demanded of him, and even his application of the Force was fine. His struggle with missing home, however, served to amplify his struggles with some of the things he was taught from a belief’s perspective. Overtime, those struggles became focused on certain individuals rather than the Order, and he came to realize that the Order was made up of people with often differing beliefs. Growing older brings wisdom.

As a padawan, he trained under Master Vaerun Tahl, a Mirialan known for being a patient and wise mediator. Together, they were assigned to mediate numerous border disputes. On one such assignment, not far from Mandalorian space and his own home world, the situation deteriorated rapidly, and a militia and private fleets clashed while the local governing authority debated how to respond. Sethran witnessed firsthand the cost of delayed action as settlements were destroyed in the ensuing combat while the politicians discussed their response. His Master survived the conflict, just as he did, but carried visible regret, and that lesson was something he would never forget: compassion without decisive action could quickly become negligence.

When he became a Knight, he earned recognition for his measured judgment and reliability in combat. While he favored defensive forms, when the need arose, he was more than capable of being efficient on the attack. Many missions saw him alone on frontier worlds where the Republic did not have control, where almost no one had control, but his early life on the world of Jelucan gave him insight into the way that border territories survived and functioned in the shadow of larger powers. One of his missions brought him into proximity with the Jedi Underground as he sought to protect a group of Force sensitive children from a group who wished to enslave them. He was impressed with the ability of the Underground to act swiftly in the face of danger rather than go through formal channels.

The High Council, taking notice of his sensibilities and effectiveness in the field, has since seen fit to authorize him to work as a part of this Underground. It keeps him busy, which he prefers, and allows him the flexibility to do what he knows needs to be done without worrying about the consequences of acting before reaching out to his superiors. And that is how he came to be where he is today.
