Senator Arrival - Silfe Sosuri of Cyrillia

As the ship touched down, Silfe paced in her gown. It was heavy but beautiful. Her father had insisted that she wear it for her first encounter with other Senators, especially Lady Kay and her husband. It had a high collar with gold feathers over most of the gown, hand sewn on no doubt, with a full skirt of mesh and beating from the mid-thigh down. As heavy as it was, it was surprisingly comfortable and she could move around in it pretty well. There had been worse gowns in her life. Her dark hair was up and out of the way of the high collar, sitting in an intricate wide knot at the crown of her head. It was decorated with pearls and gold leaf. Her makeup was intricate with dark eyes accented with gold leaf and simple nude lips. Her father would have been fairly pleased with how she looked if he could see her now but secretly, she was glad he could not judge her. From this distance, his words and accusations could be just a memory.

On board with her, there were 4 bodyguards and two lady servants. Overall as far as Senate entourage's went, hers was small. As she heard the [SIZE=14.6667px]Lambda-class T-4a Shuttlecraft's landing ramp lower, she felt the movement throughout the craft of the bodyguards and servants preparing to accompany her out onto the platform. Commenor had been made aware of her coming. Would they meet her here or inside? New to all of this, she was more than a little nervous. Realizing her hands were shaking, she pressed them into fists and took a deep breath. No matter what happened, they wouldn't send her home right away. She would have to fail first and Silfe was determined not to fail. Failure led to her dismissal and going home in shame. Her life would be forfeit, if not right away, as soon as her father could arrange it. He would never accept a failure in her. [/SIZE]

Two guards moved by her and two came up to stay behind her. The two servants took their place behind them. They were all dressed in gold and black livery. The guards were armed, but only minimally so as not to offend. The women too were armed, though theirs were hidden.

She took another deep breath and unclenched her hands. With a nod, they exited the craft.

Kay was indeed waiting, standing at the main landing pad of the Senate Hall. Reconstruction was still taking place as one of the three towers was leaning slightly, it's supporting walls down below were getting repaired. With her was a few guards. Her assistant was elsewhere. She didn't have the lady with her all the time as she tended to look after things at the Palace as well.

As [member="Silfe Sosuri"] exited her ship, Kay smiled and bowed her head as she approached. "Welcome to Commenor, Senator. I trust that your trip was uneventful? I am the Chancellor and I wanted to be the first to greet you. Shall we go inside? I'll show you to your quarters and office."

Silfie' s dark eyes studied the area, noting the reconstruction and then the lady before her. The smile was returned warmly and she followed it with a low curtsey, hand on heart. "Greetings Lady Kay. My father and indeed, all of Cyrillia are honored to be represented in the Senate. I take this duty very seriously and hope that I do the Senate and my people proud."

She lifted out of the curtsey and moved to join the lady. "I shall be very pleased to see anything you wish to show me. I have to say Lady Kay, I have been quite eager to make your acquaintance since my father first had me studying local governments in preparation for this assignment."

Kay smiled. [member="Silfe Sosuri"] had been taught well. She had a silver tongue which was quite common in politics. But some used it better than others. "You flatter me. But I can't take all the credit for what was created here. I've had help."

She gestured towards the main doors of the Senate Hall and turned to walk that way, keeping mindful of her pace so that the Senator could walk along side her. "Have you been training for such a position all of your life? Or just in the recent year that this Alliance had been formed? The Senate itself is just over a month old and the Charter is still being tweeked. A fresh perspective would be welcome."

She inclined her head as she walked beside [member="Lady Kay"]. "After a fashion. My mother trained me and educated me as though I would take over my father's business should he never father a son and possible political marriage should he succeed in creating his successor. After her death, I continued.my education though my father made it clear I would never take over his business. You could say he has been searching for just the right placement for me to his advantage since I was old enough to hold one."

There was no bitterness in her tone. Silfies held that feeling in check with an iron grip. "I don't discount anyone else's contribution. It is just nice to see a woman who is in charge of something. And how did you come by politics?"

Kay listened to [member="Silfe Sosuri"] quietly. Her mother sounded very bright, looking out for her daughter that way. While her father seemed nearly as bad as hers. But she understood what kind of a life that was, given some of the young men that tried to woo her for one night stands, or only wanting to gain power from her. Fortunately her husband wasn't that way at all.

She raised a brow as Silfe mentioned the fact that a woman was in charge. Was that a rare thing on Cyrilla? Perhaps it was. Some cultures were like that, just as in politics, Force Users were usually forbidden to serve. It was why Kay kept her abilities a secret. The prejudice that she had encountered both by her Father and by others towards those gifted like herself had been felt Galaxy wide. Sure she understood their fears, but that didn't mean that she had to like it or agree with it.

"How did I come by it? Purely by accident. I used to negotiate between friends that were fighting. Then that sort of grew...An opening came for a Senator position for the Republic. I applied and got in. I worked at that for a while before being fired for failing at a negotiation. Not long after that I ran in the election to run Commenor. I won and after the Elders that truly ran the planet had died, I took their place. With the work that I had done here, other planets wanted to follow our example. More followed. And at the request of my husband, I created the Senate. I'm only leading it for as long as you all choose me to be. Politics can be afunny thing. It can either steer clear of you, or forever be on your heels. For me, it's the latter."

Silfe let her dark eyes wander over the palace grounds and the intricate architecture. Occasionally she would turn to look at the woman beside her, wondering what to make of the career politician who seemed so nice and level-headed. Everyone was out to get something but what did Lady Kay really want? Leaving her musings for later, she continued to listen.

"That we all should be so lucky to be able to stumble into our life's work. Must say you have chosen a very challenging career path." She laughed a little, covering her smile with her fingers as her cheeks turn a delicate shade of pink adding a little bit of life to her thin frame. For a moment Silfe had shown a bit of her youth and personality. "Well, really I can't believe I just said that, seeing as how I also have chosen, of a sorts, this profession."

Kay smiled as they approached the Senate Hall doors and stepped inside. "The life of politics was chosen for you. Perhaps one day you'll have the opportunity to choose whether or not you want to remain on this path or to try a different one."

As expected the foyer was grand, with white as the base colour, accented by blacks and greys. There were hardly any sharp corners, the architecture well rounded so as to not seem harsh, but still intimidating by the sheer size. Kay brought her to the Council Chambers first. It was darker than the hallways, but more so in that it was more balanced. If anyone were to examine it closely, they would notice that there was an equal amount of white and black, the ratio was 50:50, symbolizing the neutrality that the Alliance shared. A long table sat in the middle with numerous chairs around it. The Senate was not yet big enough for everyone to have a podium to themselves. "This is where we conduct our meetings. For some, it's their favourite room."

[member="Silfe Sosuri"]

Perhaps, she thought to herself as they entered the Senate Hall. It was lovely, the mix of monochromatic shades and Silfe took a good moment as the walked to appreciate the decor, but it was the Chamber that held her real attention. This was where she would be helping to shape policy for her people.

"I can see why. It's calming, less bright than the hallways but still light enough in shades to not feel heavy. I bet that keeps emotions level on a subconscious level even though it can only help so much when tensions and passions run high." She life's her face to look all around, taking in the space and getting the feel of it in her soul. Like everything about this place, it was not home and there was a certain free feeling that came just from being here and not on Cyrillia.

[member="Lady Kay"]

Lady Kay was around here somewhere. I saw her walking off somewhere. I was busy helping Thalia with moving her stuff to my room. Mostly because she hated staying on the ship while we were here, and cus she liked to talk to the others here and do more things than study up all the time. I went through the halls. My mask was still on due to traveling here and I rarely took it off in front of others who I didn't know or couldn't trust.

It was after I reached one of Lady Kays guards I asked about her. Receiving just enough information that a new rep was coming in today, I knew the little tour she would take to introduce this new person. Shaking my head with a sly smile, I walked down a few halls and came around the corner to hear some talking in the main room. The doors hadn't been closed so I could hear them out in the hall.

I began to remove my mask as I entered. Hearing about the architecture of the room being fitting. My boot-falls were rather loud in the otherwise empty room. I hated that part about being well over the normal height of humans. My Hellyni heritage made it difficult to sneak up on someone. Let alone Lady Kay because she could pick me out from anywhere.

I took the final few straps off from the back of the mask as I walked up. Letting it hang on my belt along with my lightsaber. I let the new, and much younger lady finish speaking before I turned to Kay and nodded my hello. I was never one for physical contact. Even more so in front of others.

"I see you are introducing the new senator to the accommodations. Welcome to Commenor."

Kay laughed a little, clearly amused at the mention of people's emotions running high. Although there hadn't been a yelling match in these chambers, there had certainly been some heated discussions. "If only we could always discuss things calmly. However politics was never meant to be that way. It's always a battle."

Her attention turned to [member="Atheus"] as he walked in. Of course she heard him before seeing him. Kay smiled, noticing that he removed his mask. He was her dear friend and she owed him a lot. The two had a lot in common. He was as vital to her recovery as Veiere was. "I am. This is Senator [member="Silfe Sosuri"] of Cyrillia. Senator, this is Atheus. He represents the Iron Empire, one of Commenor's allies. I trust that you are well, my friend? It's good to see you back" Kay hadn't seen him since her wedding to Veiere.

She too had heard the man approach as his footsteps. Her eyes grew wide for a moment upon seeing him but quickly returned to normal as she schooled her features. Silfe was tall for a woman though quite thin from malnutrition and a constant nervous wariness. Still, [member="Atheus"] towered over her by at least 8 inches. His appearance was daunting in comparison to the unobtrusive guards of the palace. Yet [member="Lady Kay"] greeted the man as an old friend and his words were polite.

"Thank you. I have only just arrived and Lady Kay has been kind enough to give me a tour herself." She wondered what the mask was for. Did he have a respiratory problem? If so, it was not an obvious one. Based on appearance, he was a good ally to have.

I smiled at Lady Kay as she introduced me to the new senator. Throwing my more well known name out for the Senator to use, and mentioned I was a representative of the Iron Empire. However, it was clear with the more friendly tone that I was more to Kay than an ally.

Bowing my head to the new senator as a sign of respect, I raised my head to look at her. Knowing full well that her face seemed to hide a slight nervousness around me. Having the ability to feel others emotions aided me to understand others, and sometimes made it difficult to simply play by the sidelines.

"Fear not Senator Sosuri. I hold Commenor and all of it's people with high regard. You are no exception."

Turning back over to Kay, I nodded my head a little and then answered her question.

"You know politics isn't my game, yet I still play as such on Hora. Been difficult trying to convince everyone that the Galaxy is not as bad as it may seem."

A sad smile crept to my lips as I bowed my head as I thought on what had all been taking place recently. Dealing with my home planet that was sitting on the edge of the galaxy where no one could touch them, yet they didn't want to expand into something more. It perplexed me, yet infuriated me. Pushing that thought away, I continued.

"Anyways, that's not important now. Sosuri, What planet will you be representing within the Alliance? And good on you for becoming a politician at a younger age than most."

Kay gave [member="Silfe Sosuri"] a small smile. She wondered if maybe it wasn't so common for one such as herself to give tours. She'd often do that for her friends and some of the more recent hires in the security department. It wasn't as though she was the type to act accordingly to her own station. If that were the case, then she wouldn't get to see many of her friends and would be even more isolated than she had felt at times.

She looked to [member="Atheus"] , studying him and what he spoke, wondering just what it was that he'd been up to all this time. She remembered of Hora not trusting strangers, but as always, there was more to what he was saying than the words he used. It'll be something for them to talk about later.

Kay thought that she had told Atheus of what planet Silfe would be representing, but that's okay. Sometimes one doesn't catch all the information given. Instead she just let the new Senator give the answer while she remained quiet.

She gave the large man a pleasant smile. "I am glad to know I have your esteem @Atheus." It was strange saying his name for the first time and sounded a bit foreign on her tongue but if he was close to [member="Lady Kay"], no doubt she would see more of him and the name would become more known to her lips. "I hope that I shall be worthy of it. I represent Cyrillia which, if you are not aware is a manufacturing heavy planet. The Cyrillians started as are the makers of droids mostly. Humans have now cultivated the more corporate part of that business. It is quite lucrative for both species whom I am chosen to represent."

The fact that she had been ordered to do so by her abusive father did not pass her lips. She had given Lady Kay a brief bit of the story but Silfe could not bring herself to say the words or even to some degree, think it. He was her father and knew best. There was a torment inside her, the fight between the fear of him and the respect of him. Always she was at war and always she was terrified. Here though, the feeling had abated just a little.

"The Galaxy is a large place, both filled with those that are good and those that are less so. No one is all good or all evil therefore no Galaxy could be all good or all evil."
