  • GENERAL INFORMATION

Seldan Rourke is an imposing man, 6'5" tall and in his mid-thirties, serving as a Captain in the Republic Commandos for the Grand Army of the High Republic. Born and raised in the mid-levels of Denon, his early life was defined by the city's neon glare and rain-slicked streets. Childhood innocence quickly evaporated for him.

After his mother was sold to the Black Sun, Seldan learned firsthand that innocence was a luxury he could not afford on Denon. His life took a sharp turn when Remus Veruna plucked him from a prison cell. He was brought to Naboo, a world far removed from Denon's grime.

On Naboo, Seldan was honed into a formidable protector. He also became, quite unexpectedly, a brother figure to Aurelian Veruna Aurelian Veruna . While he maintains his loyalty to the Republic, his deepest allegiance belongs unequivocally to Aurelian. For Aurelian, Seldan would dismantle half the galaxy without a second thought.

  • HISTORY
Seldan Rourke's early years in Denon's Mid Levels seemed full of promise. His mother worked in one of the district's high-end brothels, serving wealthy traders and offworlders who paid to pretend the Mid Levels were "authentic." She kept him from the harsh realities of her job, instead telling him stories about a dashing CorpSec officer father who didn't exist. She promised Seldan that he too could one day wear the uniform and keep the streets safe.

Seldan grew up admiring the CorpSec officers who patrolled his neighborhood, drawn to their order and authority. He often followed them on patrols, earning him the nickname "Little Badge" from locals. While his friends raced in back alleys or tinkered with stolen droid parts, Seldan practiced standing like the officers, hands behind his back, eyes straight ahead.

But dreams rarely survive reality. When Seldan turned thirteen, his mother vanished. An older dockhand, who owed her a favor, whispered that she'd been sold to the Black Sun to settle someone else's debt. Overnight, Seldan was alone. His romantic notions of CorpSec crumbled; the same men he once looked up to now ignored his questions and walked right past him even when he slept in alleyways.

Survival became a harsh lesson. He stole food, clothes, and other small valuables to sell to cyber-parlors. He managed to avoid gang recruitment, though barely, sidestepping the Black Sun and local syndicates. His luck ran out eventually: a CorpSec officer twice his size slammed him against a wall for stealing a luxury ration pack, and just like that, Seldan found himself in juvenile lockup.

It was there that fate intervened. Remus Veruna, on a business tour of Denon, visited the prison looking for potential guards for House Veruna. Seldan immediately stood out. He was tall for his age, broad-shouldered, and possessed a hard, unflinching stare that seemed too mature for a boy. Remus saw a valuable asset, and Seldan saw a way out.

Naboo was a different world entirely. Sunlight, clean air, and wide-open fields were luxuries so foreign they felt like fiction. House Veruna provided more than just food and shelter; they trained him. He learned hand-to-hand combat from ex-Royal Naboo guards, marksmanship from veterans of the Naboo Security Forces, and battlefield strategy from military advisors who had their own reasons to help Remus. Seldan became not just a guard, but a shadow, a shield, and later, a mentor to young Aurelian Veruna.

The two quickly formed a close bond. Aurelian was the golden heir, groomed for politics, while Seldan was the blunt instrument who ensured his path remained clear. When Aurelian entered his mandatory military service, Seldan joined him in the Grand Army of the High Republic. Seldan's skill and discipline earned him a place among the Republic Commandos, as Aurelian transitioned into politics.

Now a Captain, Seldan's duties span Republic space. He's always listening, always watching for threats to Aurelian. He is a loyal officer, yes, but more deeply, he is a bodyguard operating on a galactic scale.

  • APPEARANCE

    • Height: 6'5"
    • Build: Broad-shouldered, powerful, athletic.
    • Hair: Dark brown, worn close-cropped for practicality.
    • Facial Hair: Short beard, trimmed but never perfectly neat.
    • Eyes: Dark green, with a permanent squint that suggests either distrust or chronic annoyance.
    • Notable Features: Small scar above his left eyebrow from a street fight on Denon, faint burn marks on his forearms from early Commando demolitions training.

  • PERSONALITY

Seldan Rourke embodies a unique mix of qualities. He has the discipline of a career soldier combined with the sharp instincts of a street rat. When he talks, he's blunt yet dryly funny, the kind of man who can dismantle your argument with just a few words and a raised eyebrow. He's precise, never wasting words or movements, but when he does speak, you usually want to listen.

Noble ideals don't sway him easily; his loyalty is deeply personal. He trusts individuals. His moral compass is strictly practical: the "right" thing is whatever keeps the people he cares about alive.

Off-duty, Seldan is surprisingly approachable. He enjoys cooking, a skill learned from Denon's street vendors, and he's intensely competitive in sparring matches. He also has a strange fondness for terrible old holodramas. He's quietly superstitious, with a strong belief in the "don't tempt fate" approach.

    STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES

    Strengths:
    • Loyal to the bone: Once Seldan decides you're worth protecting, he'll die before he lets you fall.
    • Tactical versatility: Equally comfortable leading an assault or disappearing into the shadows.
    • Physical presence: His size and bearing alone are often enough to defuse situations.
    • Street smarts: Years on Denon honed his ability to read people and spot trouble before it starts.
    Weaknesses:
    • Overprotective: His loyalty to Aurelian can cloud his judgment, sometimes to the Republic's detriment.
    • Distrust of authority: Skeptical of chain-of-command decisions that come from "soft hands."
    • Short fuse for hypocrisy: Especially from politicians and brass.
    • Reluctance to delegate: Prefers to take dangerous tasks himself, even when impractical.

  • NOTABLE SKILLS
    • Close Quarters Combat: Trained by Naboo's best; capable of taking down larger or better-armed foes in confined spaces.
    • Marksmanship: Deadly accurate with blaster rifles, pistols, and long-range marksman weapons.
    • Urban Warfare: Expertise in navigating, infiltrating, and operating in dense cityscapes.
    • Field Leadership: Strong under pressure, able to adapt plans on the fly.
    • Protective Detail Operations: Skilled in threat assessment, route planning, and rapid extraction.
    • Survival & Improvisation: Can turn scrap and debris into functional tools or weapons.
    • Cultural Camouflage: Blends into both high society functions and the criminal underworld without drawing suspicion.
