The internal self spnging is not very special but it is made to preserve and lessen movement of what was inside of the box. The glossy black material can adjust and contour to the artifacts within before stopping. The larger the object kept within the box the less it can do and despite some parts it can't fill all of the space. Vases interiors can still hold air or be empty and if there are pieces in there it can damage the artifacts. The case provides no real protection in combat but it is made to be protective to what is kept inside.
