Seeking ways to train

I've recently decided that Venris could do with some in character training, be it by another more experienced force user, a Holocron or whatever methods are available on this site.

The one proble is that I'm indecisive and lacking in creativity at the moment, so until my mojo gets flowing I thought I would ask if anybody has any suggestions/offers to make. So far my only idea is some long drawn out self training thread that I likely would get bored with quickly or do a bad job with.

I don't even know what precisely I want to train him in as of yet, hence why if anybody has something they think would be an interesting style/ability/etc for Venris to look into then feel free to toss it in.

Now for some brief info...

Venris is a former Jedi, having left the Order as a Padawan to follow his master, and now is a Knight Level force sensitive with training in Ataru and Soresu. He is looking to expand into other styles of lightsaber combat or unarmed combat and to begin honing his force abilities.

Some other things to note: Venris is also interested in learning abilities commonly affiliated with the dark side. He already knows Force Lightning.

If there's anything else anybody would like to know before or after making a suggestion/offer either check out the bio or ask here.

In simple terms, the quickest and best way to progress is to join an Order. If you're going to go Light-sided, the Jedi Academy Network works well in conjunction with joining an Order. Most of the training that happens there tends to be within a given Order as opposed to cross-Order development. Just an observation.

If, as I suspect but I have been known to be wrong before*, you are looking to be Dark or at best somewhere that blurs the lines, it is possible but hard. I have a Sith character that I took the same approach with. Started the same day as Corvus. Still an Acolyte.

There is a vested interest in Faction members developing Faction members. Threads still die, but it's less common. Am I saying you can't progress to Knight and then Master outside of a Faction? Of course not, but it is honestly harder.

Always room in the Underground, and some pretty diverse teachers to take your pick from. We've got TK specialists, Jedi Shadows, Jensaarai, a Gray Paladin, a couple of Duinuogwuin-trained instinctive astrogators, twice as many Masters as most major factions...yeah, I think we've got the diversity covered if you're looking to shop around.

You're close to the mark. Venris has been rather...taken with the ideas of the old Je'daii Order, which includes tapping into both the light and dark side without fully giving into either one, hence why he is exploring both light and dark side affiliated teachings and abilities. The Order believed that in order to learn more about the Force they had to achieve a balance between the two, and Venris simply saw that as a reasonable theory to explore.

And I am considering joining another faction just because the one I am in at present seems to have...lost its steam. Before Vassara left it was proceeding nicely, but now I barely see any of my fellow faction members anymore. Venris would definitely NOT go for the Sith however, on the grounds of 'not being THAT desperate to improve himself'. Other purely dark sided factions would not be much higher in his list, even rejoining the Jedi Order would seem more likely if not for the whole 'dark side exploration' thing, as I'm not sure he'd even be allowed back in if people knew he was training himself to use abilities favored by the Sith.

Hm...I'll take a look into it, the Underground does sound like something Venris would either join or at least approach for guidance outside of a conventional Force User faction.
