Seeking a Story-Centric Spar

I don't get much play out of my Force Warrior, and because of this I haven't invested in his IC training, or experience. I'd like to step into the waters with a spar. I'm not aiming to kill, as he is never aiming to kill. He walks a slightly different path, and his methods are uncommon among the Force wielding community. I don't intend for this to be a few lines of verse describing movement in detail -- rather a purposeful story that has more weight and meaning than a simple scuffle. After all, what's the use of a spar if nothing is gained or learned by the individuals in combat?

So, who will meet my Echani in time honored tradition of 'throwin' down'?

Story-centric: This kind of combat centers on the story itself. The combatants are background noise essentially, and while you are still in combat, it's not about the combat. It is infact about the story of your character and what is trying to be accomplished. These often involve flash back memories, thoughts of your character, and the over-arcing goal of the story. You are narrating your character normally from a third-person perspective as if watching them fight, while you describe their emotions and thoughts on their mission.

You could hire me to teach you a couple techniques often used in wrestling that are transferred into combatitives.

[member="Skosk Fett "]Thank you for the kind offer friend, but Echani spend their entire time from childhood to adult practicing the martial arts of their people. They are groomed warriors whose combat is their way of self expression. In other words, he well knows how to throw a punch.

[member="Hasjo Hallu"] What kind of story would you like to convey in such a spar?

[member="Soulfire Ticon"] Did you have a particular story in mind, something that your character needs for growth or purpose?

Now a good spar would be nice.

I know that you are not really a Eshan Native unless you can be there. so how about the story of following the dots of my past I search for the Followers of Palawa?

An Eshan native would suggest that my character was born and raised on Eshan - of which he was. He doesn't travel there anymore because all members of his family and his friends are long since dead. He was discovered by the Followers of Palawa over a century ago, and trained with them extensively, and as such was granted passage to learn the hundred year sleep. So I would wager that meeting Sion would be a good start to locating them, and learning from them.

I remember reading your bio, just that you were in a very long sleep that could only be learned from the Followers of Palawa. And you are an Echani so it would fit.

now would you like me to start it or for you as I have no clue on where you would be. (warning since I write mostly in first person would it still work with what you have in mind for the Story Centric?

I have seen you write on other accounts, and seen the style of your writing. However, I have yet to actually see you do any battle in those posts - so I am unsure of how that actually plays out in first person. It's a very unusual writing style - as most first person monologues I see deal with more internal dialogue, rather than external. Something like a film noir script is what I am most familiar with in that tense. The story-centric aspect of these spars however are more about personal discovery and learning. The fighting is like background noise, and it's not specific, it's not detailed, and often it's very flashy. I only describe this so you understand what I mean by that term. Do you think that is something you're looking for?

First person is a different style of writing and arguably its harder to write because, like you said, there is more internal conflict. Fighting is not that different than third person actually. Just change and add a few words and it works. "He flicked his wrist to send the blade towards John's chest" can be changed to, "Flicking my wrist, I sent my blade to John's chest." just different wording. So a story centric would in some ways be easier to do in First person where the "I remember" card can be played. If I am looking to do something like this, then why not?

Alright, I just wanted to be clear on what the goal is. If you want to setup a scene, feel free to tag me in it. I would suggest using the Duel tag though. He can be just about anywehre. He's nomadic.

Well Since my character would be searching for them, maybe I meet you at a pit stop or on the planet of Bunduki. Seeing as how he would have looked them up before hand.

Currently I have to be going to bed or I will not get any sleep tonight before pulling a 12 hour day tomorrow. So I will do it when I can.

Hasjo has a lot of inner horrors due to a result of the Siege of Coruscant. He was gunned down and lit aflame, for an amphibian, being lit aflame is a very bad thing :p Anyway, due to it he has been forced to live inside a mobile life support system. Perhaps this could help him confront those inner demons?

[member="Hasjo Hallu"] - I would be glad to help the noble Nautolan confront those issues in combat. Feel free to pick the location, as long as it is not inhospitable, we can get this underway.

Cholganna seem fine to you? How would our characters meet although?

[member="Hasjo Hallu"] Through the beauty of adaptation and story-writing. In other words, we will find a way. If you want to start the thread, I'll compliment the introduction.
