Secrets Revealed (Briika)

Autumn was in full swing. The fragrance of the atmosphere was unique at this time of year. Tree leaves were changing colors and beginning to fall to the ground. This was Kad's favorite time of year. Winter was around the corner, and a slight chill could be felt in the air. It was a good thing Kad was dressed appropriately. He had experienced a good inflow of business after the invasion of Empress Teta. New armor needed crafitng, and many verde needed repairs made to their beskar'gam. The military engagements had made Kad a busy man, and was bringing in good income for the Mando'ad's expanding family.

Kad closed his shop early. He had worked hard recently and decided to take the afternoon off. Lunch with his sister [member="Briika Detta"] sounded like good idea. The market was busy, but Kad was patient. Kad knew where Briika's favorite take out place was, and so he thought he would bring her lunch. She would know something was up because it was rare Kad showed up unannounced bearing lunch, a gift for Meshl'a, and long stemmed flower for Briika.

His mind had been on the recent chage in his life, and not the fact his riduur [member="Ralize Tor"] was pregnant with twins. The trip the pair had made to Nar Shadda to meet her family had not gone as planned. Kad had experienced a major change he needed to talk to Briika about. He had let her know something was up when the allit had met Nolan's cyar'ika a few days before. The mando'ad knew he couldn't wait long to tell her what had happened on that trip. Briika didn't need to worry about what the news was going to be.

Pulling up to the homestead where she had moved to after her ridurrok, Kad got out of the speeder, grabbing the food, and walked up to the door. A healthy knock on the door announced his unexpected arrival. Hopefully Briika was home.

Briika had just finished snapping the last snap on her six month old daughter's onesie when there was a loud rapping on the front door. She quickly deposited the dirty diaper into the trash receptacle specified for such things, then picked up Mesh'la from the changing table. Grabbing the ik'aad's favorite blanket from inside the crib, the golden blonde dressed in a comfortable fall outfit made her way downstairs. Bree wasn't expecting anyone so she peered through the security hole in the decorative wooden door before greeting their guest.

"Oh look, Mes'ika… It's your Ba'vodu Kad!" Briika exclaimed all smiley, then motioned for [member="Kad Tor"] to come inside the log cabin home that was set in the tree line off the edge of the small homestead her and [member="Kable Detta"] owned in Braslin; a small farming community located just outside of Keldabe.

"Su'cuy, vod'ika. You have perfect timing. Mesh'la just woke up from her nap and had a diaper change, and I am starved," she grinned, then closed the door behind him after the sandy brown-haired Tor sibling had walked in.

"Let's go into the kitchen... So what brings you out here bearing gifts, Kad'ika, hmm? Does this have to do with what you whispered to me the other day?" Briika asked inquisitively as she plopped the baby girl into her high chair and pulled it up to the side of the table, then added walking over to the cold storage unit.

"Milk good for you... or does this require something stronger?"

"Milk," Kad said a bit too quickly, "Something stronger is preferred, but unwise I think."

Kad set the food containers out on the table, and slid Briika's across from where he sat. Her favorite meal from her favorite place. This was was definitely the youngest sibling trying to butter up the older. The truth was he was about to tell Briika something that may be hard for her to hear. He knew she was going to be a bit unhappy to hear that he almost died along with Ral's vode. The hard part for Kad was knowing he probably should have had it not been for what happened to him, or what had awakened in him more accurately.

The goran was nervous about this conversation, and his finger tapped on the table's edge in a somewhat annoying rhythm. He would usually be trying to get Mesh'la to giggle about now. Instead his mind was on what he was about to say. His comment about the booze was sure to make [member="Briika Detta"] raise a brow, so Kad decided to get right to it.

"It is about what I whispered to you earlier, and about my trip to meet Ral's allit on Nar Shaddaa. That's why I wont' touch the booze right now I think. Telling you what happened might make me drink more than I need to. So which do want first, what happend when we met the family, or what happened to me?"

Briika did indeed quirk up a blondish-brown eyebrow at her younger brother's hurried reply, but let it go for now as she poured them each a tall glass of milk, bringing them over and placing one in front of his meal. [member="Kad Tor"]'s body language said it all so the medic just sat down and opened up her food container. She took a deep breathe as the mouth watering aroma from the saucy noodles with spicy meat rose up with the steam.

"This is gonna be good I can tell by the entree you brought me for lunch," Bree said with a knowing smile, then took a couple of bites before picking up Mesh'la as she was becoming fussy. She wanted to eat too! "By the way, vor'e... I think."

While the baby girl was cradled in her left arm, Briika draped the blanket over her shoulder, covering Mesh'la and began breastfeeding the infant. It has become second nature now after six months of doing so that it didn't phase the older Tor to do it in front of others. After another creative forkful of food, the blonde finally answered Kad.

"Well Buir always said it's best to start at the beginning especially when something is complicated or hard to swallow, vod'ika, so I'd start there," she said, reaching out to pat his arm in a reassuring manner.

The beginning right, well this was going to take a while, and Briika was going to have questions. Kad opted to give her what he was mostly ready to talk about now, with enough about when it happened to give her some context. First, a good forkful of food, and swig of milk to wash it down. He sure loved his spicy meat and rice.

"Well it started when Ral'ika and I went to meet her allit on Nar Shaddaa. It was supposed to be this normal visit, well as normal as it can go when you're about to meet your riduur's allit for the first time, and she's the only woman in the mix. Anyway, things went south way to fast, and we wound up getting mixed up in some bad business that her buir and vode couldn't seem to get rid of."

This is where Kad skipped past the almost dying part, and the part where Ral's vode died. An intentional break was taken to fork more food in his mouth to skip past it.

"Long story short, I got in the middle of a force blast, or whatever it was, that Ral had done, and I got hit hard. The weird thing was when Ral warned me, I put my arms up and I felt.... different. The blast hit me, but went around all at the same time. Ever since then, I can do things... things I couldn't do before. Bri'ika, I can use the force."
