Strengths:
  • Cloaking: The Scimitar has a built in Stygium cloaking device and Thrust Trace dampers. When used in tandem, they are a super effective cloaking system that makes the ship pretty hard to find.
  • Security Measures: The Scimitar has some great on-board security measures including Security droids. With RMIA's acquisition of the ship it comes with 2 Cabur-class security Droids and 1 Bassilisk war droid, however the user is welcome to change this as they see fit. Also there are Gravfield generators, booby traps, and other nefarious treats to any would-be intruders.
  • S-thread Comms: the S-thread is a truly amazing (and expensive) piece of work. It can be used to make hyperspace communications or detect incoming ships from hyperspace before the revert to real space. Sending transmissions using the S-thread cannot be intercepted but they can be tracked to their point of origin. That is to say, if someone uses the S-thread comm while cloaked, someone could track the Scimitar to its location if the thread is open too long, but never know if they were calling in reinforcements or just sending cat videos to their cousin.
  • Solar Ionization Cannons: The Solar Ionization cannons are truly masterful. They are able to bypass many traditional shields and melt durasteel. Their affects on other, studier metals like Alusteel, beskar, and phrik varies. They are able to do a great deal of damage when they are used correctly, even if they are a power drain.
Weaknesses:
  • No payload: The Scimitar has zero in the terms of projectiles; she has zero missiles, torpedoes, or anything like that that can be launched. All she has is the Solar Ionization Cannons.
  • Recharge: Each Solar Ionization cannon takes time to recharge before being fired again or there will be terrible consequences. Each Cannons can be fired twice in a 5 second period. The cannons can be fired in tandem, or whatever the user decides, but a single cannon cannot be fired any more than two times in a 5 second period or the cannon will overheat, melt and possibly even explode. Fun times, I know.
  • Thrust Trace Dampers: Thrust trace dampers add another layer of untrackableness--but at a cost. When the Thrust trace dampers are active, the Scimitar's speed is drastically reduced from Extreme to Average.
  • Cloaking: Cloaking has its limits. For instance, the Scimitar cannot be cloaked in hyperdrive. It requires 15 seconds post hyperdive before the cloaking system can be activated; that is typically plenty of time for anyone in the area to get the idea that something is in the area, unless they are being exceptionally inept or the area has a lot of traffic or whatever. Also, while cloaked the Scimitar does not have the power to fire its cannons. To fire, the Scimitar must be uncloaked because of the power drain. Cloaking does not cover comms. If ET wants to phone home from the Scimitar while cloaked, then anyone in the area is going to be able to pick it up with Comm-Scann or similar scanning devices.
  • Reduced Cargo Capacity: An X-wing carries 10 tons of cargo, the Scimitar carries 2.6 tons. Quite literally, the average star fighter carries more.
  • Forward mounted guns: The Solar Ionization Cannons are great--however they are forward mounted. There are no turrets on this ship, so if its not in front of the Scimitar, then its out of the firing arc.

Description:
The Scimitar was first designed by a Sith Lord, Darth Tenebrous, a being who was both brilliant and twisted. His brilliance manifested itself best in ship design. The Scimitar would be his legacy and gift to the Sith that followed after him. This Courier was incredibly deadly, deadly by design and nature. From him it was passed down to the greats of Darth Plagueis, Darth Sideous, and Darth Maul. In their hands, only the gods know what damage they truly did to the galaxy and how they used the ship for their evil machinations.

From the hands of Maul, the ship was eventually recovered by Darth Sideous during his reign as emperor. When the Empire fell, the ship itself fell into obscurity. A small cabal of Sith worshiping Force Adepts uncovered the vessel. They came to love and cherish it for several generations, using it as a sort of temple. They committed blood sacrifices, unspeakable acts, and dark-sided rituals that were truly damning and corrupting of their souls.

Eventually these force sensitives were discovered by a true Sith Lord, who slew them with ease and took the ship for his own. This Sith, Darth Kolralt, repaired the ship and gave it a new purpose. Darth Kolralt was an exceptional pilot and an evil man. Over several decades he used the ship to wreck havoc and cause piracy across the galaxy. His successful career was ended when his Apprentice surpassed him, slew him, and took the ship for his own.

But this apprentice's use of the vessel would be cut short by the Gulag plague. During this time the Scimitar seemed to pass from diseased darksider to diseased darksider almost daily. Its true ability and power all but fell into obscurity.

That is until it fell into the hands of a man who truly knew how to use it. Darth Lox gained control of this legendary craft. He used it for several years as a phantom, committing piracy, murder for pleasure, and establishing himself a truly wonderful shadow pirate empire. However, all power invites someone to topple it over. Darth Lox was no exception. He grew too careless and was hunted down by Bloodborn and Raxis, who slew him and several of his minions for the ship itself.
