Satou Technologies was one of the dozens of Corellian starship manufacturers that made up the greater Corellian Engineering Corporation's portfolio of talent. With humble beginnings in the High Republic era as a small parts manufacturer and re-seller to a Galaxy-spanning SuperCorp, Satou Technologies is a family-owned company and has been for hundreds of years. Since the Gulag Plague they have replaced or unseated higher-ranked companies within CEC's throng of companies, managing to not have been one of the other many cannibalized corps used to keep CEC afloat during the Galaxy-spanning pandemic. Now with a seat at CEC's corporate board of leaders, they have cemented their place in galactic trade providing small parts and hardware for starships, speeders, and a variety of other vehicles both throughout CEC's lineup and in manufacturers across the stars. Over the last hundred years or so the company has also moved to Tauber in hopes of harnessing the great minds there and spearheading CEC's biotic and cybernetic research.
Despite its prominence now however Satou Technologies has a shady past with deep generational ties to the Atrisian Zaibatsu and Atrisian organized crime. Some of Corellia's most notorious Atrisian criminals were either employees or family of employees of Satou Technologies. With its roots deep in the Atrisian diaspora on Corellia though and its strong impact on their communities, especially in Gold Sector, the company has managed to toe the line while supporting these organizations.
RATIONALE
After the death of his father, Hideki Satou returned to Corellia to take the reigns of his father's business. Thought missing in action after the battle of Korriban during the Third Sith-Imperial Civil War, upon his return to public life he was tried for desertion and treason against the Galactic Alliance he was only found guilty of unrelated military infractions and was thus dishonorably discharged from the Alliance Navy. His initiatives to clean up the streets of Gold Sector and the distance he put between himself and various criminal elements as well as his closeness with the new Senator of Corellia has put him on good enough terms with the rest of CEC and he was kept on as CEO and owner.
