To the eye, Sam is an average teenager with medium-length brown hair and cybernetic eyes not uncommon for those born on Denon or in CSA space. Some who have experience with earlier models of human replica droids (HRDs) may recognize the trademark iris design, but most brush Sam off as a punk teen who started chroming at a young age. He is a masculine model, presenting as male in the world. Sam is of average height and build for organic teens his ‘age,’ which appears to be that of a mid-teenager.

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
Sam is analytical and cautious, and for good reason. Autonomous synthetics that emulate free-willed beings are outlawed in the Corporate Sector, meaning that Sam’s mere existence is grounds for deactivation. He is calculating and quick on his feet, though sometimes a bit paranoid if under extended periods of stress. Sam believes that all life, both organic and droid, is worth protecting. In his eyes, he’s just as alive as the humans he was designed to replicate, and he’s just as deserving of a free life as they are. Sam will go to great lengths to protect and support his friends, placing himself at risk if necessary despite his logical protocols.
STRENGTHS
- Age is but a Number: As a droid, Sam doesn’t really age. His knowledge base and lived experiences will compound and form his personality matrix, but unless uploaded into a new android, Sam will remain a baby-faced teenage punk (his words).
- Patch Me In: Sam is a versatile tool capable of many high-order functions. He can patch into comms, display HUD and navigational data, run scans and analyses, perform autopilot maneuvers, and more.
- Open Sesame: While unremarkable in other fields as far as advanced droids go, Sam does possess a robust slicing suite specifically designed to counteract cybersecurity and corporate digital locks.
- Color Theory: Human behavior is tricky to understand and emulate, but something about the unpredictability of art is irresistible. Sam loves expressing complex thoughts through graffiti.
- Hardcore Parkour: In a city where slipping away quickly is the difference between life and deactivation, Sam often relies on his impressive freerunning skills to evade the Corpos and traverse the districts.
- Linguist: Sam wasn’t programmed with thousands of languages out of the gate like most protocol droids, but he does know several languages and can learn more. He’s fluent in Basic, Binary, Corpstan, Ettian, and several others that are prevalent in Corporate space.
- Hello, World: Ten years is plenty of time for a droid to learn everything it needs to know about the world, but Sam has spent his whole life hidden from the Corpos. He has a lot to learn, and thanks to his unconventional programming, he’ll have to do it the old fashioned way.
- One-of-a-Kind: Sam was created in secret by a Corpo defector using stolen or homemade tech - he’s tough to repair and impossible to replace.
- Achilles’ Heel: Sam’s personality matrix and memory banks are localized on a powerful, compact optical storage device (OSD). Removal of the OSD can lead to lapses in recollection, and its destruction would erase his existence completely.

If you ask Sam’s ‘sister,’ she’d tell you that he was a passion project of her dad’s. If you ask Kyle Kolburn, he might have said something cryptic about Sam’s purpose or ultimate goal. But Sam just wants to be alive. To learn and grow, like a real human. If only the Corpos would leave him alone…
Sam was created by Kyle Kolburn, the father of

After a terrible failure in District 7, Sam and his friends were forced underground, only to discover that Kyle was alive and in hiding. He fled, along with his secrets. Sam and Das escaped from Denon’s blockade and tracked their shared father across the galaxy, to a much larger corporate beast than the CAD: the infamous Corporate Sector Authority.
Now, the chase is on and the stakes are higher. Androids and human replicas are outlawed in the CSA, placing his life in turmoil every moment he spends in the Sector.
