Salvagestuff Reclamation

She could foresee the war coming, which was already known among the Alliance High Command as the Great Galactic War; however, there was one thing left to clear up in the procurement problem. Salvaging the battlefields for materials that might still be recyclable. Even though she knew the Squibs were still busy recovering from the damage the Vong and the First Order caused, the one thing she knew that could help was to use the materials from Metrobig Salvagestuff Platform to rebuild the housing and other important pieces of real estate on the planet. So, in an attempt to resolve the Alliance's problem in that arena, in which she knew the ORC to the south was the galactic leader, she contacted various suppliers, to no avail. Because there was an urgent procurement problem, she was at liberty to make a procurement deal to Jast Shipwright without using the regular channels for procurement, especially not when it came to ships. She was grateful for that and she prepared to type up a message on an encrypted datapad to one of those suppliers:

Given the emergency of the situation, I am at liberty for signing a deal without undergoing the usual processes, which would take too long for what we need. We are interested in the Reclaimer salvage ship. Please let me know whether you would like an in-person meeting or an online meeting.

Adm. Cathul Thuku
CO, Therapy Command

Hala typed a message into her data pad and took another sip of her Caf.

Dear Adm Thuku,

A pleasure doing business with the Alliance! I've been wanting to make a contract with you folks for some time now! Yes we can do this on-line. While we're here why don't I pitch you some other goodies too.

Jast Defensive Platform: A medium defensive station, sporting over 700 guns and missiles in her arsenal. Meant to be parked outside of major systems with a fleet garrison or in pairs. Can hold off attack for a while, refuel and refit vessels, as well as provide medical aid to wounded.
Jast Salvage Station :A huge Salvage platform with hundreds of docking bays. Haul one of these into a debris field and recycle everything with the buzz droids on board. Can refuel ships, provide medical services, repair and refit vessels as well as serve as mobile manufacturing station. Grab one of these to improve your economic output in a system.

Let me know how many and what. We can arrange a Contract.

So what he was suggesting amounted to another carbon copy of the Metrobig Salvagestuff Platform? she thought, upon reading the attachment that described the Jast Salvage Station, but far from accusing [member="Hala Jast"] of plagiarizing a Squib design, She probably ought to pay the Squibs some royalties, to be used for the purposes of reconstruction, if she actually ended up buying one of those Jast Salvage Platforms. But these products seemed interesting to an extent, and it was a major expenditure. She knew that it could potentially cost several billion to the Alliance, so she had to make sure that she had their money's worth. Skor went through a lot, so bolstering the defenses of the planet was perhaps a good idea, all things considered, and also Lothal, since she knew how vulnerable the place really was. Surrounded by the First Order on nearly every side, Lothal was a low-hanging fruit for them, and she had to do something to restore the residents' trust in the Alliance, lest they deliver Lothal to the First Order at some point.

The easy part is getting about 30-40 units of the Reclaimer ships. However, the hard part is buying the Jast Salvage Stations: we are going to need to ensure that the Squibs are compensated if one of those are deployed in the southern reaches of Alliance territory: something that size deployed too close to Skor can seriously disrupt their still-fragile recovery, especially with the Metrobig Salvagestuff Platform being directly in Skor's orbit, accomplishing very similar functions. As for the Defensive Platforms, we can probably deploy several of them over planets such as Skor and also Lothal. Perhaps some pricing information would be well-appreciated; they will be important in the contract. Any group or bulk discounts possibly?

Make me an offer. I like the Alliance, contrary to what most Outback resident think of you folks. I can do a discount for a huge bid. I can also offer lifetime warranty on repair, refit and replacement, should they get destroyed or scuffed up. That'll run a lil extra but I think it's worth it, considering the overall initial cost f the buy.

You get the inside track.

I got the means of production. Whatever you need I can deliver NLT end of month.

///End///

Warships usally didn't come with warranties, but non-combat stuff may well come with warranties; any bulk discount on the salvage stations would then be applied as royalties to the Squibs. That was the reason why she was inquiring about bulk discounts: no one among the Alliance would realize that there was an attempt at buying the Squibs' silence in the dossier, and no one among the Therapy Command staff would realize it either. Especially not given her involvement in both Skor campaigns, the staff would feel obligated to do whatever was in their power to aid the Squibs. And possibly eat Skor cake once that transaction was over. Hmm... perhaps giving some Skor cake to Ms. Kitra would be a good option, she thought, knowing that in the second Skor campaign, the Silver Jedi helped them out deal with that troublesome Carlyle in orbit. Now was the time to find out how much of a discount he was willing to give for three salvage stations and five defense platforms, knowing that one month could be all Jast Shipwright would need, probably through some prefabricated trickery. With the 15% discount being given to the Squibs for their reconsruction-related budget earmarked for social housing... hopefully they won't complain, provided Lothal would play host to one, and also another one to the north, such as Dulvoyinn.

15% discount on the whole order, sounds good to you? We have 40 Reclaimers, three salvage platforms and five defensive platforms ready to order. As for the warranty we will take it. Do you have any other issues?

Adm. Thuku,

Nope looks good to me.

Signature and Contract enclosed. Please Sign and send back.

Goods are all yours, arranging delivery time now. Hopefully those defense platforms help you against the First Order. If you ever want any of my ship designs for the GA Navy or Therapy Command, let me know.

Long live the Alliance.

While, of course, assuming they can actually deliver facilities that big in a month each, paid cash-on-delivery, there was but one issue: while it isn't much of a problem when it comes to the Reclaimer ships, stations, however, needed to be deployed and delivered at specific spots. However, she believed that Jast Shipwright would agree to specific locations for deploying the purchased stations, so she might have a final request before actually signing the contract. In the meantime, she had her procurement staff prepare another document that authorizes an earmark of about 1.5 billion credits to assist the Squibs in rebuilding their war-torn homeworld, to be used specifically for the purposes of rebuilding the basic infrastructure of the planet, as well as healthcare and social housing. She was all for undercutting the Nuknogs' rival business in First Order space using Squibs and whatnot, even promising the Squibs jobs on the platforms, just that it must not undermine the Squibs' core business on Skor.

[member="Hala Jast"]

There are a few things I wish to make clear before the actual contract would be signed: the delivery locations of the platforms. The three salvage platforms shall be delivered on Tantra, Lothal and Inysh, while the defensive platforms shall be delivered on Skor II and Dagobah in addition to the aforementionned locations, for a total of five (5) defensive platforms.

Farboon being dangerously close to First Order-land, and Lothal as well, it was going to be a dangerous proposition. But it was finally time to sign the contract with Jast Shipwright Company. So that's killing two birds with one stone; now that's one thing the Squibs will be grateful for, she thought. Meanwhile, one Amica Neerwinden was about to finalize the transfer of funds into the Squib public treasury on Skor II, alongside with instructions for the actual usage of the funds: basic infrastructure, housing and rebuilding to cater to the basic needs of the Squib population. Oh and Amica also prepared a press release for the reconstruction funds destined to help out the Squibs rebuild not only Metrobig City but also other Squib settlements that sustained damaged by Dredge, Saverok et al. Speaking of which, she was bound for Skor to do just that. What better way to get the message delivered in front of the Squibs themselves? That was precisely the sort of things the Squibs would be needing to finally get the work finished.

Now that the details of delivery are finalized, please find enclosed the signed contract with the Galactic Alliance.
