BIOGRAPHY:
During the age of the Old Republic a pregnant Miraluka Jedi had crashed on Dathomir. Her ship was shot down by the Sith during the return of their Empire, and after she was trying to return to the child’s father to tell of her pregnancy. The Sith believed she was trying to spy or return with some important information to her order. The Jedi knight was lucky to survive but she was badly wounded, and was only too lucky that the Nightsisters had found her and brought her to their lair to heal.
As the Jedi healed she’d gone into labor, a daughter being born. The then Mother of the Nightsisters allowed the child to be named, Salaza, before she was taken away and the Jedi poisoned to ease her passing. Salaza was now claimed by the Nightsisters.
Over the years Salaza was trained to be a witch and worship both the Winged Goddess and the Fanged God of the Force and dark arts. While she proved useful in the arts of fighting she fell behind in learning the dark arts, yet the Mother insisted she had the potential despite the beliefs of others. Salaza continued to try and train yet began to doubt herself.
Soon, as she grew older, the Nightsisters were approached by the Sith to aid in their fight against the Jedi. While the Mother and other clan members refused to become fully involved in the war others, like Salaza, were eager to join in the hopes of proving themselves. The other allowed them to go, but any and all involvement or ties to the Nightsisters was to be kept as secret as possible. As such the group that followed had given themselves a new name to use, the Maleficar.
Under orders from the Sith the Maleficar proceeded in discreet missions with the use of their magics. Salaza, however, had proven to be the weakest link in the chain, often needing to stay behind or act as lookout without actually becoming involved in the missions. While it annoyed her she understood it was because of her ineptitude with her powers, though this only angered her because she’d yet to fully master or learn.
During one such mission the group was to break into a Jedi base and secure a powerful artifact held in the chambers. While the others went ahead Salaza was yet again left behind, only this time she would not stand for it. Against the commands of her superiors she went into the base and tried to aid them, though in the end she altered the Jedi and they attacked. Many were killed but a handful, along with Salaza, had managed to escape. Salaza, however, had done so by a sudden impulse of magic that finally worked to her favor, altering the perceptions of those that tried to attack and, in turn, making them kill each other.
The remaining members of the Maleficar returned to meet with an emissary from the Sith who, after seeing their failure, had declared them unworthy to continue serving. Salaza, however, had a revelation in that moment and used her powers on the Sith and the men, turning them on each other and forcing them to kill themselves. She declared to the other members that they would continue their work because she believed they were strong. Subtly she influenced them too, declaring herself the emissary of the Winged Goddess and thus gaining a new uniform to match.
The Maleficar had then declared war with both the Sith and Jedi, attacking whenever possible yet making it seem as though the others were responsible. Salaza had planned to have the Jedi and Sith destroy each other leaving way for magic to rule. However she and her “followers” became too headstrong and eventually engaged in a head-on fight against a band of Jedi they found camped on Endor. They did not realize that there was a number of masters within the ranks, and all but Salaza had been killed. The Maleficar had been all but wiped out.
Salaza was brought before the Jedi and the Republic to answer for her crimes but the witch had declared she was working for herself, still keeping the work of the Nightsisters secret. Because they believed she had more valuable information the Jedi agreed to have her sent to a secure prison but, given her powers of influence, she was put into carbonite freezing; the first real attempt. Before she could reach the prison, however, the ship was attacked by enemy forces and crash landed.
Now the ship remains lost, along with the still imprisoned Salaza inside awaiting to be released.
