Description:
The Saturation Automated Firing System, or SAF, is a multipurpose defensive weapon of frightening proportions. Initially designed as an anti-missile auto turret, the SAF was reevaluated for anti-fighter programs as well. This reevaluation prompted the creation of a slimmer version for potential ground based weapons platforms.

The Model A turret system is wholly automated, acquiring and engaging targets within it's range and size parameters. Targets must fall within it's acceptable engagement protocols, ergo approaching missiles or vessels under fifty meters in size. The targeting computer filters out registered friendlies immediately. A two second burst, 150 rounds, is often all that is required for the average fighter based missile. Capital missiles, clearly registering as a larger target, incur a full five seconds of fire to ensure destruction of said target. In the event the target is not destroyed, typically vessels near max of target protocol, the Model A will instantly begin another five second burst. These bursts will continue until the target leaves range, is destroyed, or the weapon is forced into a cool down cycle.

The Model B operates in exactly the same manner with one major exception. The Model B has a manual override feature, meaning the weapon system can be aimed at virtually anything. Due to the size and weight of the Model B mobilizing the weapon system is difficult. Should the system ever be used in conjunction with a mobile ground platform, the SAF will likely be the only weapon system it's able to support.
