Material: The outer casing is made from a plasteel, reinforced by the a thin layer of durasteel. All the working parts of the rifle are made from a high carbon, corrosive resistant steel which is likely to be found lubricated with oil.

Description:
After a series of extremely successful field tests, The Orion Corporation started Minor Production of the SABR-1. A total of 15,000 units were produced by one of The Orion Corporation factories on Anaxes. After being loaded onto a cargo vessel, the SABR-1s were shipped off for distribution across the galaxy. However, they never reached their destination. At some point throughout the voyage, all communications to the cargo vessel went dead and all traces of the ship had disappeared.
There is speculation that the cargo vessel was hit by an asteroid field during a detour to avoid pirate space. All attempts to find and retrieve the vessel and its cargo have failed, but The Orion Corporation are still investing time and effort to find the lost ship. The entire supple of SABR-1s were lost, apart from one. SABR-1 Prototype Stinger, the same one used in the field tests was adopted by the CEO, Slate Estrada, after he preformed the trials. It is noted that he had "a thing" for the gun and preferred to keep it rather than send it off for scrap. This is the only remaining SABR-1.
Like all Slugthrowers rifles, the helical grooves in the barrel allow the projectile to travel further and more accurately. The thermal sight mounted on top of the holding handle allows for effective shooting in darkness or through light concealment (smoke, fog, haze). The sight has a 4x times zoom, increasing the effectiveness of the weapon during long range engagements. A flash eliminator has also been attached to the muzzle, therefore making the weapon more suited for stealth operations. A silencer can also be fitted to increase this ability further.
To increase the stability of the rifle, the barrel sits in a gel substance. When firing, the gel absorbs nearly all kinetic energy released and reduces the amount of recoil dramatically. However, during tests, it was shown that the gel would begin to grow mould and deteriorate if the weapon wasn't cleaned regularly.
The rifle can be fired in two modes. The primary and default setting is the 3 shot burst fire.This allows for accurate fire, while still maintaining very capable damage. The second setting is the 5 shot burst. This mode was designed for close combat, it allows for higher damage, but consequently larger amounts of recoil. A third option of single firing was added to the later SABR-1s, but this feature was only implemented after the prototype was manufactured, meaning the one owned by Slate Estrada does not have this option.
As a feature added by Slate Estrada, the outer casing of the weapon has been painted a with hexagon camouflage.
