TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
STANDARD FEATURES, sensor systems, tractor beams, etc

Strengths:

  • Extremely tough frontal armor

  • Critical areas have tough armor protecting them

  • Highly automated systems

  • Large missile complement

  • Multiple engines

  • Heavy armament

  • Good point defense
Weaknesses:

  • Long so longer turning radius

  • Small fighter complement

  • Armour is weak over non-vital and non-frontal areas

  • Exposed missile tubes

  • With it’s high automation a loss of power is devastating

  • Limited variety in fighters with Wasps being required for the middle docking clamps

  • Small crew and ground forces

  • Weak mid section

Description: Designed with the purpose of creating a highly cost effective Star Destroyer the engineers at Slayn & Korpil settled on a highly automated vessel capable of rapid long range power projection. Sporting a small but advanced starfighter complement and a large offensive missile system she is designed to engage at range then move in with the starfighters. Her six long range turbolasers are mounted on the top of the frontal hull to encourage captains to keep her relatively low in order to cover her missile launchers and starfighter bays. While lacking in advanced defenses she has over 100 meters of layered frontal armor designed to soak up enemy fire. Her highly slanted frontal hull means mass driver rounds and other such weapons tend to bounce off. This does not extend as much to the rest of the ship however and while the parts of the ship that do stick above the frontal hull have a minimum of 75 meters of armor those parts that are not do not get such heavy plating. A single heavy turbolaser blast that gets through the armor that is on the rearward mid section can devastate the ship by setting off missiles being automatically transported to the tubes for reloading along with any starfighters that have not been launched. Vessels of this class also risk being split in half under concentrated fire to their mid section potentially splitting the ship in two since it’s fairly narrow and only has a dozen meters of armored bulkhead.

Ships of this class primarily carries a single squadron of fighters or interceptors for defense, two small to medium transports, and six medium bombers. The starfighters fit the bottom of the middle section where they squeeze into the hull itself and attach to docking clamps to save space. There is a primary small hanger protected by a blast door built into the forwards bottom part of the rear section just behind the long middle section to carry support craft. You can also attach four small support craft, such as resupply ships or Starfortress bombers, to docking clamps along the sides of the ship though under standard operation these are usually kept free. It’s notable that all craft pass under the bottom of the ship to launch with the exception of the side docking.

The ships carry 410 permanent crew, room for 150 passengers or additional crew. Standard complement is 50 officers, 200 crew, 130 starfighter crew, and 40 combat troops. There is also 400 droids to assist the crew. The ships are built so they can do basic warp navigation and orbits off of auto pilot so the minimum crew needed to operate the ship is technically zero however it will not be terribly effective at anything other then basic operations.

With all this automation the bridge is built into the rear section of the ship by the engine where it can be best protected. Most of the ships crew is also focused on the rear section of the ship. This greatly speeds up the efficiency of the ships crew and keeps everything centralized. This also means that there is room for recreational rooms in the front of the ship and other crew comfort facilities. The ammo storage is also kept up front where it can be best protected by the forwards armor.

Droids aboard ship ship consist of various service, repair, and a collection of security droids. Standard complement is 50 IX-6 heavy combat droids, 50 IX-6 combat and security droids, 200 “Hatchling” maintenance droids, 100 droids of other types.
