The ship of Vormur[/url']https://www.starwarsrp.net/threads/m-i-acklay-class-frigate.202191/]Vormur[/url] hummed softly almost in silence as it drifted in the Wild Space region. Not aimlessly, but patiently waiting. The familiar clanks and cranks of metal could be heard from the Engineering room as Rath busied his stained hands with some contraption. It appeared to be some form of casing big enough for both of his hands as it rested on the bench.

That’s when he heard the chime through the intercoms as a voice that sounded like gravel as it rumbled through the speaker.

”Hey kid, we got someone trying to reach you. Someone named Yeda Dossul?” The name did ring a bell for Rath. He once did a job for her some years ago when a merchant with money had hired goons to wreck her shop. The job was messy, but he had managed to retrieve the stolen goods and taken the merchant and his henchman down a peg.

Rath could only wonder what she would want this time as he leisurely wiped his hands on a stained rag before he made his way over to the bridge. Seated in the pilot’s seat was Katrina, a young woman with brown hair pulled into a high ponytail. She didn’t sport the small braid as she did before, but Rath wasn’t going to pry into it. Adjacent to the sensory terminal with a holoprojector was a seasoned man who had seen one too many wars and tragedies in his lifetime. His wispy gray hair combed over the balding head, but his eyes were keen and sharp despite his age.

”Did she say what she wanted?” Rath inquired as the man looked over his shoulder with a shook of his head.

”Just that she wanted to speak with you.” That wasn’t much of a shocker given Yeda’s difficulty to trust anyone, especially with a face she’s not familiar with. Rath solemnly nodded his head as he answered the call. The projector had shown a twi’lek woman garbed in an overall with her company’s logo in perfect display over the right side of her torso. A pair of goggles rested against her forehead as she blinked for a moment.

”You haven’t aged a day, Rath.” She commented, for she was expecting to see something that spoke of his age, but the only difference was the eye color now that it was no longer corrupted by the Force. He shrugged his shoulders with a half smirk.

”And you look like you want to throw a hydrospanner at someone.” She shook her head with a shadow of a smile.

”No, they weren’t worth that much.” Which meant that she likely did throw something at someone, just not a hydrospanner. Not that Rath was going to pry into it as she seemed rather eager to drop the subject.

”I know that it’s been a few years, but are you still looking for work?” It wasn’t necessarily a job offer to repair droids, ships, or appliances. Rath glanced over to his crew as their eyes were shifting between Yeda and himself. Whether they were judging him or simply observing remained to be seen, but Rath wasn’t going to hide it from them.

”On the contrary, but I can still assist. What do you need?” It wasn’t like they could openly go around and declare they were part of the rebellion. It was an easy cover for him to declare they were mercenaries or smugglers. A perfect mask for the crew of Vormur to wear as well.

Yeda looked over her shoulder as if she was ensuring solitude before her voice dropped to a whisper.

”A few of my guys got attacked by some bandits a few days ago. I had thought the shipment to be lost and the people dead, but I only learned recently that some of them had survived the attack.” Her fingers rapidly tapped away on a device before his ship received the notification within the terminal. Upon opening the message, it was a set of coordinates. Ironically, the coordinates were in the Wild Space territory, on the planet of Rannon.

”My crew has a distress tracker for emergencies, whether they’re lost or stranded. There might be resistance, but if you can spring my people free for me, I can send a ship over that way to pick them up.” Not that Yeda was too concerned if there was going to be a fight or not. She had seen the way Rath operated in the past, and if he was as ruthless as he used to be, then she had every confidence that he could pull it off. Still, Rath wasn’t in a hurry to make decisions as he weighed their options. If the pirates were big enough to take a shipment, then it was likely they had a gravity well and/or a tractor beam along with a small fleet of their own.

”I will have to make some arrangements, but it can be done.” That was perhaps the first time that Yeda genuinely looked confused as it was decorated upon her face. In the past, Rath wouldn’t lift a finger unless he was paid to do so. He was a tough negotiator, but worth every credit spent as he saved her business.

”You… aren’t going to demand payment?” She hesitantly inquired with a shaky voice. Yeda had planned the whole speech in hopes that he wouldn’t attempt to bankrupt her to save a few workers, but the mechanic cared for her people. Rath dipped his head in acknowledgement.

”We’ll do it for three thousand credits. Plus whatever else we can find in the pirates’ den.” At first it sounded promising, but the second part clicked in her mind. That was why he didn’t demand payment because the loot behind the raid was efficient enough. Her eyes slightly narrowed for a moment with a click of her tongue.

”Here I was thinking the years changed you. Fine, three thousand.” With the mutual agreement, the call ended shortly after. Which left Rath to sigh as he mulled over how they could manage to pull it off.

”Taking on a bunch of pirates with one ship is nothing short than suicide.” The old Jedi Master grumbled as Rath nodded in agreement.

”I know. That’s why I need you to send out a call for anyone within the Rebellion to join us. Make sure to use the encrypted channel.” He dipped his head before the man began to send out word for assaulting a pirates’ den, as well as a basic summary of the raid’s purpose to anyone within the channel to respond. Rath sat on the co-pilot’s seat as the leather groaned under his weight. Katrina smiled flatly as she looked over to her master.

”I wonder why they’re so far away from the other worlds.” It was normal to think that the pirates would attempt to claim something like Kessel or Nar Shaddaa, but it boggled her mind as to why they would claim such a remote planet away from the trade lines.

”Likely because there’s hardly anyone wanting to go this far out. Less competition between rivals and a good spot to store whatever you stole. Assuming, of course, no one else knows about it.” Rath added, and now they waited once more for anyone to answer the call. Whether they show up in person, or intend to meet with Vormur at Rannon’s orbit.
