Run Cog Boy, Run

Careful planning, careful plans and plans that only allowed careful actions, such was the thought process of Oukaze that initially figured that his logic was flawless. Thus the surprise of the fact remained, his hands were currently bound with stun cuffs and with two blaster rifles pointed directly at his back. They muttered something about keeping his arms down, the lead thug gestured at Ryuu to walk into the turbo-lift.

The Cog boy truly wondered how it ended up so chaotically and quite disastrous, the numbers were slowly being crunched but every time he attempted to figure out a different results, he would earn a concerned beep to himself. How. . .embarrassing of me. To be cornered by such fleshy people.

Trade was the name of the game on this planet, its bread and butter or its oil and lubricant in Oukaze's case. After the short but brutal elimination of previous government, the planet once more prospered under new leadership and continued to grow their trading routes and secure better trading guilds. The Confederacy wanted prosperity, not complete destruction for this planet of Manda.

Such was how the planet had originally made their claim to fame, through expert traders and merchants, though as with any growing economy other darker elements followed and the chance to earn more credits drew in the rather undesirables of the galaxy. Thus here Oukaze had hoped to begin his little operation of dealing information and offering his unique abilities for a price.

He’d figure that under now under Confederacy rule, such opportunity of growth could be had among the sectors of trade. The attention of the Confederates now laid with the Mandalorians in the far northern side of the galaxy, so Oukaze figured he at least make the attempt on Manda.

And with the high volume of trade my services could be made known to more sentients. At least that had been the original idea for the Cog Boy, up until his initial deal turned sour when one of his first attempts of ‘acquiring’ intelligence was a mere ploy to lure him deep into hostile territory.

"Perhaps, we can come to an agreement." Oukaze attempted to batter words.

The doors of the turbo-lift opened once it brought them down even further down the city's lower levels, the thugs had their job and knew better than to even consider breaking contracts.

A petite form walked amongst the corrupt and the discarded, the edges of her dark cloak barely fluttering even as her heels struck an even staccato cadence against the stained ground. While she was a rare figure in the slums of Manda, there were times where circumstances was such that it required the delicate touch of the scion of House Vi’dreya.

With her intricately embroidered ensemble and proud bearing, it was clear to the scoundrels and denizens of the lower level of Aroo that she was someone to be avoided. Because even the most foolish of beings would not venture down here, to the land of the immoral, in their finery if they did not have faith in their ability to preserve them.

With her dealings concluded, and her erstwhile contact learning a life lesson of a… permanent nature, the pale lady was on her way back towards the more civilised part of the city when she happened upon a most curious scene.

Or rather, the scene presented itself to her.

It began when the doors of the turbolift slid open with a raucous screech, revealing several figures of note. There was a glimpse of alasbaster throat and starlight hair as Kishala Vi’dreya raised her head, her leonine gaze slowly moving from person to person before finally pausing on the form of the cuffed male standing before her.

The aether witch arched a brow, even as she turned to regard the leader apparent. “Bosshik, may I have an explanation for…” Kishala gestured with a gloved hand, “this?

Oukaze understood very little of the machinations of these slow minds of the guards, and as suddenly they’ve come to a stop, the Cog Boy himself appeared unimpressed to the reason of their sudden pause. A woman, from what he could tell, and their voices grew so slow, it nearly made him turn off his own hearing receptacles to avoid their drivel. But Oukaze felt sure that this woman was someone that these thugs listened, and he figured she would be the one deciding his fate.

Someone with so little metal and with all their original flesh still attached? Oukaze couldn’t fathom the humiliation to be executed on the whims of someone with no cybernetics. Luckily for his partial mask, the disgust in his eyes were shielded by the focal lenses and Oukaze peered at the woman that asked for the explanation of him.

Anger flooded into his brain cortex, he had enough of these tiresome games, and he wouldn’t degrade himself any further. While his few extra appendages attached to his back were not meant for combat, they all head a very weighted end that would generate enough force to do what was needed.

Before any of the three guards could respond, Oukaze answered for himself, “I am Oukaze Ryuu-” His three mechanical appendages shot out, coiled up snakes that had waited for the perfect time to strike. The two guards behind him felt their chin almost rapture before the tops of their forehead felt another crack, the lead guard fortunately had the sense to become unconscious after the first hit to the back of his head.

“And you, unaltered one, will release me of these bindings.” Oukaze demanded of the woman in front of him. His extra metal appendages slowly rose behind him, he assumed that one with no mechanical parts would find their situation a rather precarious one. What do I have to fear now? Oukaze held what appeared an entire head over this woman, A pair of cybernetic legs would fix that.

Sharing a lineage with her illustrious brother through their exalted mother, Kishala may not have claimed the title of Darth as Isley has chosen to do, but it did not mean that she was any less able. While her brother’s dominion was in the art of war, with his fabled creations of protection and armaments; the aether witch specialised in the art of the mind, of reading and manipulation.

She sensed his revulsion and ire.

But the pale lady did not allow something as trifling as emotions to affect her.

Further than that, she sensed he was more mechanical than organic.

Her countenance remained impassive even as the mechanical being spoke, interjecting himself into the conversation before the underlings of her severed contact could answer her. Perhaps it was all for the better, for Kishala had little patience for scraping and snivelling.

The scion of Vi’dreya stood, unflinching even as the three males were swiftly disposed off, their prone bodies littering the ground around this… Oukaze Ryuu.

And a faintest smile found its way to her painted lips.

His insolent words only further gave her hints as to his inclinations.

Well, Oukaze Ryuu, if you would be so kind to provide me with an explanation as to what transpired between yourself… and these louts, perhaps I would. Kishala walked past the curious being, her heels stepping on their bodies as she made her way towards the awaiting repulsorlift.I find you interesting and would like to learn more about yourself.

Nothing? The situation developed into almost nothing, he still remained bounded and the woman in front of him appeared no less frightened from when he first saw her. Is that a smile? His eyes carefully focused on her expression, and no trace of panic or even annoyance could be located on her features. The annoyance in him flared widely though, and much unlike the clam demeanor of the woman ahead of him, Oukaze felt his hands tremble with growing anger.

She finds me interesting? Oukaze couldn't fathom how the tables turned on him, he after all normally would be the one interested in things to take apart and rebuild into something better. He commanded his mechanic appendages to recoil back along his spine once again, Oukaze wasn't sure if it was his instincts or something else entirely, but the way this woman causally walked over the guards unsettled him.

In a rather strange twist of events, Oukaze walked behind the woman and towards the repulsorlift. "I came to this planet to establish a lab of my own, and when I accepted a job to procure information from somewhere sensitive and high security, well, I presume I was seen a threat and the job the trap." Oukaze explained causally. His time from other worlds, and how easily established himself as someone to be feared had made him soft, I should have seen that coming.

"-And now I am here conversing with you, Unaltered One." Oukaze explained, while much of his annoyance was quelled slightly, his tone clearly still possessed some sense of bitterness. Being questioned by one so unchanged, it irked him greatly, though perhaps he could convince this woman to replace something simple as a hand or arm with a cybernetic. Nothing too drastic, perhaps even both legs.

If the pale lady had less of a restrain over her poise, she would have laughed at the cloud of frustration that continued to expand around the presence of her captive companion. Her smile gained a hint of mischief to it as she heard the male following behind her, the tale of his misfortunes unfolding.

And while it may be a brief story, it gave her a clear gist of how he found himself in the path of her dearly departed contact. Kishala had chosen him to be her representative on Manda exactly because of the ambitions and cunning he had displayed. But as with every being who has grown too comfortable in their perceived notoriety, Katar has begun to step beyond the borders that she has drawn.

I see,” she replied, her words neutral. There was a pause in their conversation as the doors of the turbolist closed with another screech of protest. After an alarming lurch and flickering overhead lights, the worndown repulsorlift began to ascend. With a dissapproving ‘tsk’ and a faint shake of her head at the neglected state of the contraption, Kishala turned back to regard the male.

I have always held the firm belief that some form of opposition is beneficial for development. It is most unfortunate that you’ve ran afoul of… these beings,” she continued delicately. “But please rest assured that this particular group will not be troubling you any further.” It would be the closest to an apology that the aether witch was willing to offer to Oukaze.

And as promised, I will remove these bindings. You may experience a passing rush of current, but it should not hurt… much.” After all, her companion had the most interesting mechanical appendages and Kishala was not certain how much it was part of the man nor how deeply embedded they were. The pale lady waited for the other to raise his bound hands, a bright citrine gem held between her index and middle fingers.

Perhaps you would be more amenable to a consider having a discussion with me after you are unbound.

"Hmph" Oukaze grumbled out in response to her mentioning that that for growth there first should be some resistance. How very primitive, one does not need to 'grow' or 'develop' simply one only needs to replace and upgrade yourself. The young Cyborg absolutely knew that if he was not capable of achieving certain goals, he merely needed to find adaptions to his body thus to allow him success.

Oukaze raised his bound hands upwards to this young woman, his single hazel eye shot daggers but he otherwise kept his next words civil as he bit down on his own wounded pride. "I do not see how such a thing is possible when only one of is named to the other." Oukaze responded, the edge much smoother and his voice held back much of the earlier venom.

He waited a moment for the bindings to release and fall from his wrists, Oukaze hardly cared about the pain he would receive, he just knew if he had attempted to break free it would have caused much more harm than what it has when released. "-As much as I want to continue to use the title "Unaltered One", it is not a name that is unique." Oukaze explained, more of his venom of his voice removed and perhaps his freedom gained the Cog Boy seemed less irritable.

"Also, what do you wish to discuss?" Oukaze's curiosity finally emerging out from him.

A smile graced her lips once again, and her aura was writ with her unspoken delight. For Kishala had purposely neglected to introduce herself due to her own amusement of the appellation he was addressing her with.

With a gentle tap of the tawny crystal on its steel surface and a soft murmur, a sharp current of electricity raced through the device. After a moment of nothing happening, the weighty shackles which bound the cyborg’s hand together clicked open, falling to the grime covered floor of the turbolift with a loud clang. Slipping the gem back within the dark confines of her cloak, the aether witch finally decided it was time to perhaps stop her little games, lest the other grew incensed with her.

Well, I suppose if I continued to withhold my name any longer, it would be considered a smidge rude,” she acquiesced. “My name is Kishala Vi’dreya and it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance… despite our inopportune impressions.” The pale lady gave the cyborg a charming smile as she held out a gloved hand for him to take. Beneath their feet, the turbolift shook as it came to a stop.

If you do not mind accompanying me for a bit longer, perhaps we can talk about it over in a quiet place? To assure you that I do not plan on leading you into another trap, I will allow you to choose.

Oukaze eyed the gloved hand, curious he focused his eyes to target the glove and noted nothing particular special or dangerous of the fabric. Yet the Cog Boy kept his hands to himself, demonstrating by crossing his arms over his chest and tilted his head slightly to the left. Oukaze held his own reservations with this Kishala, and even with her name given, Oukaze wasn’t that entirely certain of his current circumstance. Even unbound and relatively free to move about, well something didn't exactly feel that great.

And I hate unknown variables.

In the past the most cold heart gangsters he had held the displeasure of interacting, they all held a certain degree of disgust or fear with Oukaze in some form but not this Kishala Vi'dreya. Most of those fears and disgust were either of how extensive his cybernetics were, or from his way of expressing his low opinion of those unaltered by such cybernetics. But now? Oukaze was looking at a woman who held a poise of authority and assurance, either from a position of power or simply unfazed by Oukaze. Or both, maybe I’m not the strangest being she had met.

Not that the thought comforted him by any sense of the word, “Well, Kishala Vi’dreya, you choose the location.” Oukaze offered, he needed to demonstrate his assurance with his own ability and mental prowess. But how she looks at me, almost as if I’m looking at myself for the first time. “-You are what others call, a host? And I am a guest after all.” He added with a bit of indignation to his tone.

Even with the stun cuffs removed, Oukaze couldn’t shake the feeling that he was in a much larger prison and he wasn’t at all certain if even he could figure out how to escape from this one. "If you worry of prying ears that may overhear our conversations, I doubt any would dare the attempt." Oukaze commentated on the need for privacy, the doors to lift open and Oukaze gestured for Kishala to walk out first.

Her own unveiled delight only continued to flourish when the cyborg crossed his arm in a clear show of rebuffing her gesture. The pale lady merely inclined her own head in graceful acquiescence of his wishes before she allowed her hand to fall back to her side. It was clear from the mélange of faint perplexity and keen wariness that the other was not fully trusting of her intentions just yet.

As you wish, Oukaze Ryuu. There is a café nearby that has a decent selection of teas, but it is their eopie cream pie that always brings me back,” she affirmed with a pleased little smile, her hands coming to press together to further elucidate on her quiet pleasure. “I rarely find a companion to share it with, so I am definitely looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it,” Kishala continued, ignoring the hints of annoyance in his words.

If they have the capacity to think and even a modicum of sense, they would not dare.” With grace and lightness to her steps, the aether witch stepped out of the turbolift before Oukaze, her eyes narrowing beneath the hood of her cloak as the brightness of day shone on the two beings. “Come along, it is just a short walk from here,” she waved for her red clad companion to walk by her side.

With a tug at the edges of her hood so that her delicate eyes were protected from the light, Kishala began to lead the male through a series of backlanes and quiet streets. She was quiet, content by the comfortable silence that was between the two until they stepped up to what looked like a traditional and quaint little shop. Almost as though she was unable to quell her delight at being able to taste a slice of divine pie, her steps gained a slight alacrity.

Her gloved hand peeked out from under the cloak once more to push open the door, and as the mismatched pair entered the café, a soft tinkle sounded overhead. Now that she was in the relative dim shop, the pale lady lowered her hood as she stepped up to the display of desserts that was lined up enticingly at the front. “Pick anything you like, Oukaze Ryuu. I will allow you to take a bite out of my cream pie so long as you allow me to do the same to whichever item that you order,” she offered with smirk.

Let it be known that Kishala Vi’dreya was always fair, even when it came to her favourite dessert.

He continued to tail along, a rather exact distance of half meter were between Kishala and himself, the streets and alleys offered Oukaze some normalcy. Not in the slightest of the atmosphere or even the design, but simply in the fact that he could allow himself some basic memory challenges. If he should ever need to recall exactly how to access that particular lift ever again without aide or guide he would so with incredible ease.

The only sounds between the two were the whirls of his gears and servos, along with the faint steps of the graceful Kishala and the louder and low thuds of Oukaze's own heavy steps. Such silence did not last long, as they finally approached the location that Kishala called the 'Café' and Oukaze was not overly impressed. Which, with all things considered, a good thing by the calculations.

As far as he was concerned, he wasn't being led to a scrap yard.

Oukaze followed quietly behind her, he had very little much to say about the location chosen for him so he simply glanced at the many offerings available. Rather appearing uncouth to his host, Oukaze gestured at one plate that appeared the least offending to his eyes, a dark red bread dish that appeared both in small portion when compared to the others and a rather simpler design than the rest.

With the selection completed, he moved over to find a slightly durable chair for himself, and a table to continue to showcase small amounts of civility if that would push forward their conversation. "You share things with anybody Kishala Vi'dreya?" Oukaze asked, slowly his voice returned to the usual cool and droll tone he normally reserved for any client or guest.

"Do not flatter me with words such as: Just because I'm special . . . for I need not to be reminded of what qualities I already posses." Oukaze added, flowery language did not suit business and he had spent much of his time to remove himself far from such political form of speech.

Conveying their selections to the kindly older gentleman, the aether witch followed after her companion. At such an hour – a little later than midday, but still not quite the hour for tea – the quaint little teashop was quiet. Even then, as Kishala sidled into the seat opposite of Oukaze, her aura rose in a gentle swell to enclose the two beings like how a light mist would. Just enough to shroud their conversation from prying ears. Any who stood outside of her influence would only hear subdued whispers and find themselves encouraged to wander elsewhere.

At his mild rejoinder, the pale lady laughed, the sound clear and merry. “My, what a mistrustful mind you have,” she said in a teasing lilt. As someone who shared similar inclinations as the cyborg, Kishala approved of his prudence. “But no, not this time. This is just a nefarious attempt on my end to try and taste a different dessert in this teashop without having to forgo my favourite.

She leaned slightly forward, placing her elbows on the table with her fingers laced together so that she could rest her chin between the arc of her hands. “Would flattery even work on a being who is already expecting it?” she remarked, her silver eyes glimmering with her unspoken amusement. While Oukaze’s words may seem like arrogance to most, it was clear from his poise and presence that the other held himself in high regard. And thus, Kishala made a decision to respect it as confidence. Only time and experience would let her know if she had chosen correctly.

As the owner came into view with their desserts and a pot of fragrant tea, the pale lady fell silent, patiently waiting until the older male stepped away, his gaze unfocused and far away. Lowering her head in polite manner, Kishala poured tea for the both of them, its light floral fragrance perfuming the air. Sighing in a contented manner, she took a small sip of the sienna liquid before placing the delicate cup back on its matching plate.

As I have said earlier, I find you interesting, Oukaze Ryuu,” she began delicately, picking up her fork and making a faint gesture towards his bread-like dessert. “I would like to know more about you as an individual. And if you are amenable to it, how… extensive your augmentations are. I have recently found myself intrigued and curious about cybernetics and would like to seek to learn more about it, be it through discussions… or through trials and errors.

I'd use the word skeptical.

Oukaze's eyes narrowed ever so slightly, perhaps regretfully he hadn't the knowledge of how things tasted and for once Oukaze mused on reestablishing such senses back to his brain. Would had been a treat to choose something bitter or sour. Another reason why Oukaze bothered little with food or drink, such supplements exist to allow anyone to never bother with waste like the food served here within the cafe. While the effort of allowing the taste senses to return would not be long or difficult, even Oukaze would not go to such lengths for a joke. Perhaps.

As the server approached and left their chosen dishes to them, his eyes followed Kishala's movements and the liquid that poured out and into his cup. His hand slowly broke away from his chest and gently clasped the handle of the cup to raise it to his eye level. His nose as well twitched slightly, just as carefully he picked up the cap he placed it back down next to his plate. Oukaze softly pushed the plate closer to Kishala's anxious fork and turned his focus on her next words.

A modest proposal, and one Oukaze would gladly accept, "Removing yourself of such weak flesh is a good first step, but limbs and such can be changed and built anytime, the real work will be all here." Oukaze explained, he pressed one of his hands to his chest, "-Removing and reorganizing the main body will require the most time and effort. . ." The Cog Boy continued his explanation, his assumption that the Kishala Vi'dreya wished to be cybernetic had clearly taken his answer.

"Worry not of course of the pain, such notions will disappear once we configure the spinal column. . ." Oukaze mentioned, perhaps a tad too off handily as if there had been others that would disagree with such a statement.

Even though the cyborg remained silent, her silver eyes followed his careful movements as he took a sniff of his tea. Unlike her, however, Oukaze did not take a sip of the drink… perhaps he had no need to partake of food in such a manner? While she could not quite tell how extensive his cybernetic augmentations were, the weight of his footfall with each step he took on their way over gave her an estimation, over fifty-percent at the very least.

With a charming grin in place, Kishala dug her fork into the red dessert, breaking off a small piece of the bread-like treat. Raising it in a faint salute, she placed in into her mouth, chewing on it thoughtfully for several moments to savour its light fluffy sweetness. Placing the fork down with a soft clink, she picked up her cup of gently steaming tea once more and took another longer sip, allowing the bitter hints of the drink to cleanse her palate as she kept the full focus of her attention on her companion.

But as Oukaze continued to lose himself further in his explanations, her brow began to arch higher and higher at the allusions and his expectation that she was the recipient of said augmentations. Letting out a faint cough to garner his notice before he continued, the aether witch set down her cup once more, placing both of her hands on her lap demurely before she began to speak. “It is not the pain I am worried about,” she assured the other, her lips curving into a faint smile. “As the augmentations are not intended for me.

While Kishala would trust in the cyborg’s words, she had no interest in becoming something more for the time being. It was still easier for her to wander around in her form, despite her physical limitations. There were no lack of people or creatures to do her bidding for whatever else she was not able to achieve on her own. “Perhaps I would consider it if I were to ever lose a limb in an altercation,” she continued airily, the tone of her voice elucidating how unlikely the situation would ever be.

But I am interested in implementing them in some creatures I have… acquired. Just to see how they would take to it. And perhaps to see if their worth can be further… elevated.” After all, while her pets were so very willing to heel at her commands, their flesh were, to use Oukaze’s own description, weak. Between his cybernetics expertise and her own alchemical inclinations, it was quite exhilarating to see what their minds could produce.

"One does not need to wait to loose unneeded limbs before an augmentation." Oukaze added, his eyes focused squarely on Kishala Vi'dreya's own as his confidence grew slightly. His own relative safety appeared rather under control, and for once things were going as planned. Dishonesty was rampant across the galaxy, And I will meet many of dishonest people but at least the Lady in front of him had proven to be less dishonest and more forward. In a round about way, she could have said at the start it wasn't for her.

Though the mention of augmenting different creatures did force him to lean a tad forward, the slight excitement within him that he hadn't bothered to regulate within his brain chemistry ran amok. "Oh?" Oukaze was vastly interested with multiple test subjects, while he had never invested into a large lab with many experiments perhaps this Lady Vi'dreya would prove to be a most beneficial acquaintance.

Oukaze raised his arm forward and extended it outward, his palm faced upwards as his other hand rolled back his red coat's sleeve to reveal his entire mechanical forearm. Even glimpses towards his elbow and above showed more cybernetics, Oukaze than used his free hand to pressed against the palm and with several clicks the hand was dislodged and fell on the table.

"I specialize with versatility, or rather interchangeability within my cybernetics, as it allows myself to prepare for nearly any situation." Oukaze explained, he reached over to pick up his cybernetic hand and causally waved it for his own amuesment before he placed back onto his forearm once again. The desert and tea in front of him all but disappeared from his mind.

Oukaze offered a single nod, "I would be-" he paused slightly, attempting to find the word most unimplemented beings would say, "-happy to implement and augment any creatures you posses as test subjects." He responded. I believe the word was 'honored', doesn't matter now. He folded his arms back over his chest to nod once more to show further agreement.

"And as I said, I have the necessary equipment to augment yourself as well, should our future Experiments prove successful."

Indeed, they do not,” she acquiesced to her companion’s words with a faint incline of her head. Though his true features were hidden behind an impassive mask of steel, she could feel the intensity of his glance on her person, heavy and contemplative. “But… what was that adage again? Waste not, want not?

There was a pause of silence between the two beings as her lips curved in a moment of displeasure. “I will admit that my vanity also ties in with my reluctance. This face and form of mine is advantageous in many ways.” Kishala said, conveying her confession in an indifferent manner, devoid of pride and any emotional fallacies. It was… easier when people looked at her petite stature and delicate features and think of her as vulnerable.

And while he has not accepted her offer verbally, the aether witch allowed him some time to ruminate over the seed she has planted in his thoughts. After all, what Kishala has alluded to was something that strayed far from the path of ethics and delved deep into the abyss of ambiguity. Despite the hope she held, the lady could not profess to know the cyborg well enough to tell which side of the scales would he rest upon. But as his presence remained calm and curious, she allowed herself to remain assured.

As the cyborg extended his limb across the table and pulled the deep crimson material back, the pale lady leaned slightly forward in unveiled fascination of the cybernetic arm. A slow and terrible smile found its way to her lips as Oukaze explained his forte in his chosen focus to her. It was almost too tempting for her to resist, for the scholar within was brimming with queries and the need to incite a lively discussion between them.

But this was neither the place nor time for such revolutionary talk.

It was with some reluctance that she quelled her desire, taking another careful sip of her cooling tea to hide her faint disappointment at the thought of allowing the chance an excellent debate pass her by. “Versatility and contingency is an important part of any plan,” she said carefully after some thinking.

But his following agreement to her proposition washed away whatever lingering regret she held just moments ago. Because with this? It meant that the both of them will have many many opportunities to discuss and argue and theorise in the near future. And the mere thought sent a rare flutter through her heart. With a gleam of joy alighting her eyes, Kishala gave her companion a charming grin.

Much obliged, Oukaze Ryuu. I look forward to seeing how our collaboration will bear fruition. Though I will not be changing my mind on augmenting myself any time soon, you are always welcome to try and talk me around.
