GENERAL INFORMATION

• Unit Name: Royal Wayland Grenadiers
• Affiliation: Clan Gra'tua
• Classification: Infantry
• Description: Made up of a wide variety of species, bearing bulky heavy weapons, with their signature cloaks stowed over one shoulder, the ranks of the Grenadiers may appear eclectic, but they are tough and well prepared soldiers. Each warrior carries at least one heavy weapon, most two, while officers wear blast vests and carry sidearms. Common to see many Psadans among the Grenadiers, making for the second largest represenation after humans.

• Combat Function: Designated as line infantry, the unit can be used as garrison or front line infantry, able to provide its own organic fire support. In larger operations outside help is required as the unit has no airborne or armored capabilities. Specializing in jungle and forest warfare, they are formidable at setting and carrying out ambushes.

Strengths:

• Extensive training overseen by Mandalorian veterans
• Significant firepower for such a basic infantry unit
• Very effective ambushers, especially in forest and jungle terrain

Weaknesses:

• Ammunition can be a factor in prolonged engagements
• Troops lack armor or shielding and can be exposed in the open

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Formed up from the masses of civilian volunteers both already on Wayland at Clan Gra'tua's arrival, and those who had come to the system at the news of a new Mandalorian presence in the Sector, the Royal Wayland Grenadiers are not a Mandalorian unit, but are made up of volunteers, mercenaries, and other recruits.

Once the recruits make it through their training, which is significant, they are equipped with their specially bioengineered cloaks and heavy weapons provided by the Snakeworks on Wayland. They then swear their oath of loyalty to the King, and are formed into their official grenadier units. Continuous training is held on Wayland and other worlds of the Sector to ensure the Grenadiers are well seasoned.

The troopers are well maintained and well paid for their service, recieving generous combat bonuses. The existence of such a unit allows for the civilian elements of the worlds of the Mandalore Sector to provide for their own security, without having to commit fully to the life of a Mando'ad.
