The development of the Valkyrie was primarily driven by the Republic Navy, following on from its predecessor the Harrier. As it is more expensive to manufacture, it sees limited use by ordinary Navy squadrons, but are granted to pilots that demonstrate better than average piloting skills. Extended armor and increased power output make this ship able to survive both the rigours of front-line battle and the harsh environment of extended independent operation. The Valkyrie has enough firepower to challenge any fighter or bomber opponent it might encounter. Extended armor provides more protection, while a heavy power core bolsters its offensive capabilities. The Valkyrie is rapidly becoming vavored among veteran navy pilots.
