Experience: While Rick's naval career is a recent chapter of his life, he knows what to expect from other tasks such as business management and ship design. This experience helps boost his decision-making skills and how he handles problems in the listed aspects which Rick has experience in.

I'm still new at this: Rick's naval career is something he has only pursued for a short period of his life, and he is rather inexperienced, tending to be a bit too bold and sending his ships directly into the front lines.

Early LifeRick Kaloo was born on Mon Calamari on one of its numerous underwater cities to a middle-class family. His father was a lawyer, and his mother was an engineer, and they both cared deeply for Rick. He got good grades in school, excelling in engineering and science. Rick was a caring boy, helping others and making friends easily. After graduation from high school, he was accepted into an above-water college and continued to preform well there, majoring in engineering. After five years, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in engineering and decided to make his own company to help pay off his debt.
A month from Rick twenty-fourth birthday, an amazing thing happened. He won an intersystem lottery, gaining full access of a new, giant above-water skyscraper that Rick eventually named The Blade due to its sharp point. Workers flooded the entrances, and his business started with a great head start. Naming the business Ne-Cal Military Space Engineering, he started producing military craft for local defense forces, eventually earning enough credits to modify The Blade to make it a better facility for ship production.
Service in the Galactic Alliance
As Ne-Cal grew, it joined the Galactic Alliance, and Rick personally joined its navy with a ship of his own design, the Defiance, to deliver justice to the galaxy. However, Rick's first battle was disastrous. Invading the First Order planets of Hoth and Bespin, his ship's armaments were unable to penetrate the First Order flagship's shields, and then Order corvettes maneuvered toward his ship, firing plasma torpedoes that instantly killed its shields. Then, the corvettes continued strafing Defiance, eventually exploding a main engine, brutally severing the ship in half. Only due to quick actions and the power core not being destroyed was Rick able to close all the doors in the front half of the ship and prevent anyone from being sucked into space. Shortly after, he and his command crew ran into escape pods and flew away to safety.
Rick started construction on a new flagship and chose a more wary approach to combat, trying to not make the same mistake as he made in his first battle.
