  • Intent: To provide a round that is capable of taking out vehicles and armored targets
  • Development Thread: N/A
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Rahvin Industries
  • Model: .50 DU Slug
  • Affiliation: RI
  • Modularity: No
  • Production: Minor
  • Material: Depleted Uranium, Nickel-Iron
DESCRIPTION

The DU Slug is meant to be fired from the RI-SRRG and has no propellant. It is nickel-iron casing with a depleted uranium penetrator inside. On impact with an armored target the nickel-iron is destroyed, but the depleted uranium punches through. The DU is pyrophoric and the penetrator nose fractures and burns, leaving the projectile with a sharpened head as it punches through armor. Once it has punched into the interior of the vehicle, molten metal and super hot sparks fly around, burning the crew, igniting ammunition, and destroying electronics. Given the small caliber of the round the amount of burning is limited. If fired against an armored infantry target clad in beskar, phrik or other similarly hard metals the DU round will not punch through. However, the kinetic energy of the impact will cause extreme blunt force trauma to the body, which can potentially kill or severely injure the infantryman.

So the RI-SRRG is a gauss rifle/rail gun, and this round is fired from it. However, nothing in this round would lend itself to the electromagnetic properties of the RI-SRRG. It would be very difficult for the round to be fired at velocity. You'd want to find another metal, such as nickel-iron to replace the aluminum jacket.

Also, can you adjust the sentence claiming that the KE would likely kill the infantry? In PVP situations, that line can be exploited, so I'd rather it say something to the extent of "...the kinetic energy of the impact can potentially kill or severely injure the infantry".
