OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To provide [member='Kära Hearthfire'] and [member='Thyrian Hearthfire'] with a way of ensuring their daughter's safety, via inconspicuous one-way communications.
  • Canon Link: Not Applicable
  • Restricted Missions: Not Applicable; Development can be found here regardless:
  1. The Lesson Part One
  2. The Lesson Part Two
  3. Bleeding Me
  • Primary Source: Ninjen Ring: This was Kära's preliminary attempt at utilizing blood and metallurgy in order to create a long range focus for telepathy between two people. She has used the same concept here, only the telepathy will work just one way (from wearer to blood givers).
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: [member='Kära Hearthfire']
  • Model: Rhak-Skuri Frir
  • Affiliation: [member='Mysa Snowstrider']
  • Modularity: The chain could be switched to another material, otherwise no
  • Production: Unique
  • Material: Alchemized Silver, Three Blood Samples (Kära, Thyrian, and Mysa's)
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • One-Way Telepathic Communication from Wearer to Blood-Givers.
  • Alchemized Metal; Stronger than its natural counterpart, but also heavier.
    - Able to withstand a glancing blow from a Lightsaber, but nothing more.
DETAILED SPECIAL FEATURES

As stated above, this pendant is capable of allowing Mysa to contact her parents in times of great need. The 'blood givers' refers directly to her parents, being that it was their blood which was infused during the process. It is also only capable of being utilized by Mysa herself, to anyone else it would be simply a trinket. It must touch her skin in order to work, whether that be where it's set against her chest, or the touch of her hand. She must also, obviously, draw upon the Force to initiate the immediate connection. The pendant is heavier than it looks due to the alchemical process, but not uncomfortably so, but also stronger than the base material ought to be.

Strengths:
  • Provides a way for [member='Mysa Snowstrider'] to contact her parents if she happens to be in danger.

  • Inconspicuous, thus is more likely to remain on her person when other forms of communication (Eg: Commlinks) would be removed.

  • The Alchemical process has strengthened the silver to ensure it will not be easily damaged. It is pretty much immune to general wear and tear, of course weapons such as lightsabers would be able to destroy it with all but a glancing blow.
Weaknesses:
  • It is only a one-way system, meaning that [member='Thyrian Hearthfire'] and [member='Kära Hearthfire'] cannot use it to contact her of their own accord nor respond when she contacts them. It's more like an SOS beacon than a commlink.
  • Compared to other pendants its size, this is rather weighty not just because of its shape, detail, and density but also because of the alchemical process.
  • It will only work when worn by [member='Mysa Snowstrider'], meaning it is completely worthless in the hands of anyone else.

  • This item is not a weapon. Nor does it provide Mysa's parents with a GPS-style location of her whereabouts. Aside from looking pretty, it has no other purpose at all other than the one-way link. If she doesn't provide the relevant information, such as her location and condition, there's no way for her parents to glean this information.
DESCRIPTION

Rhak-Skuri Frir was a very simple gift from Mother to Daughter following her disappearance from Midvinter and the subsequent events which took place, during which she had to be rescued. The length of time it took for the Jedi to find Mysa worried her Mother, and led to the need for this piece of jewelry to be created. Kära drew influence from her prior creations, specifically the Ninjen Ring, when planning out this specific piece, but wanting to provide her daughter with a sense of independence she opted to make it one-way instead of two-way as the ring had been. That way it would be up to Mysa to contact her parents should it be required, and not a way for her parents to keep tabs on her comings and goings.

The pendant itself was cast with the native Frir of Midvinter in mind, a wild snowcat the likes of which Mysa had befriended, and was intended to be small and inconspicuous. To appear like adornment and not a functional piece. The hope was that this would make it less likely that it would be removed from Mysa should she end up captured. The edges were rounded to also aid in this, as there's no obvious way it could be used as a weapon or a way to cut free from bindings. Truly the only real thing of note it does is provide the one-way communication. Nothing more, nothing less.
