Strengths:
  • Sneaky. The Revenant is equipped with the most advanced stealth systems available. With the Stygium array combined with the engine modifications the ship is invisible to almost all forms of detection.
  • Fast and Furious. With its powerful engines and strong weaponry, the Revenant has a powerful punch when it needs it, and can rapidly escape most enemies.
  • Small Crew. The Revenant can get by with a single crewmember, despite its size. Other crew or droids can get the most out of the ship of course.
Weaknesses:
  • Fragile. The Revenant is designed for infiltration, speed and surprise attacks, it is not intended for fleet action. To increase speed and agility the ship’s armour is not heavy. Fire which gets through the shields will do considerable harm.
  • Fire Arc. All the Revenant’s guns face forward, meaning it can’t fire as it flees, it has to be moving towards the enemy. Considering fighters and interceptors are faster in a dogfight, getting a bead on the enemy will not exactly be simple.
  • Pin Pricks. These weapons, whilst heavy for a transport, are useless against escorts or capital ships.
  • Not Invisible. Despite all the technology to the contrary, the Revenant is not completely invisible. A cunning or expectant adversary can still detect it with the right tech.
Description:
With Firemane becoming one of the top tier businesses in the galaxy the owners decided they needed a ship which was faster and stealthier than their frigate, the Ardarvia. They also wanted to make use of their stockpiles of Stygium in a productive way.

Looking to the past for inspiration, an ancient craft from the time of the Great Galactic War had recently been unearthed, and its distinctive lines made it the perfect baseline. The fact it had been a Sith ship was a secondary issue; it was a brilliant design.

Therefore, the Revenant was designed on an extremely limited basis. Originally it was thought there would be two ships which the directors of Firemane could use. However, after her assistance in several missions, and her past history with Mirien Valdier, one of them was gifted to Sumiko Tanaka.

Into these ships were placed advanced stealth systems. The Stygium crystal arrays could keep this ship cloaked continually for twelve hours without rest, though anything more than six in a row would start to strain the crystals. Burning the crystals out once one got above ten hours was a very real problem.
To compliment this, engine modifications to make the ship harder to detect were added. This would mean that it would be almost impossible for the Revenant to be detected without the enemy being alerted and having the right tech.

For armaments the Phantom’s weapons were added to, drawing on more modern technology. This allowed it to have four heavy laser cannons and two ion cannons. The ion cannons were mounted under the bridge whilst the other cannons were mounted on the wings. Under the bridge was also mounted a pair of heavy concussion missile launchers. All told this gave this ship a very powerful strike capacity.

Inside, the ship was modelled to be a luxury transport as well as an infiltrator. A bedroom near the stern was set up with pleasant furnishings and artistic inlays, and also features extensive storage capacity. The ship’s interior also features a long-range holo communicator, medical bay, storage area and entertainment/conference room. In the storage area there is also a force cage, just in case.
The ship can comfortably accommodate six people.

Although fast and agile for a transport, the Revenant is not designed for combat. Against attack craft it lacks the ability to dogfight usually, and its weapons are too puny to hurt anything but the smallest of escort ships. In order to increase speed and fit in the stealth systems the hull has not been reinforced. Penetrating the shields will lead to the ship suffering damage very quickly.

Still, the two Revenants are luxury transports which can become stealth infiltrators if needed. In this role at least they are very useful.

Development Thread: Yes, two development threads to obtain the Stygium needed for these ships. Number 1. Number 2.
Intent: To create a pair of stealth transports for the owners of Firemane and their frenemy Sumiko Tanaka. These ships are unique and use restricted resources acquired by both potential owners in RP. As part of this writer’s growing fascination for TOR, the Agent’s ship fitted the role of a fast and punchy stealth ship perfectly, so they have been adapted to the modern age. Overall, the Revenant is a sneaky ship, but it can’t stand up to much punishment in a fair fight.
Who Can Use This: FIT-C99a – Tegaea Alcori, Mirien Valdier & Siobhan Kerrigan. FIT-C99b – Sumiko Tanaka
Primary Source: No Chaos canon, but this is based on the Phantom class from SWTOR…with some additional tweaks.
