Description:

With a mind to build quality weapons for their quantity of ships and troops, First Order engineering has come through once more.

The Retaliator turbolaser is at the simplist a turbolaser with four barrels on first inspection. However, a quick test fire of the weapon shows just what isn't apparent to the casual observer. The weapon features and internalized processor designed to do two things: maximize cooling and prioritize rate of fire.

As such, the Retaliator has twice the rate of fire of any standard turbolaser currently in use. The computerization allows the weapon to maintain high levels of fire over substantial lengths of time as internal systems work to cool the weapon between shots and to minimize the time in between shots. The result is a quad barreled ship-to-ship weapon system with a withering rate of fire. The perfect weapon to rip asunder the enemies of the First Order.

In addition, the weapon features a few computerized failsafes designed to prevent feedback overload in the event of damage as well as thicker armor plating around the base and critical components, making the weapon slightly harder to knock out of the fight in the middle of combat.

(Gun count is equal to a quad, repeating turbolaser - 1x2x4=8)

A mount like this would be much bigger.

make it 10 meters and 50 metric tons

Make this Standard Turbolaser Range

What's your reasoning on this. I'm open to edits, just curious as to why those numbers.
A turbolaser is a large weapon It generally is about at leat a 3 meter muzzel. Light turbolaser are less but for a standard turbolaser it is a sizable weapon then add 4 of them to a mount which requires things like Gas and power regulators as well as targeting and standard actuating mechanics. If you would like to change it to a light turbolaser quad turret then the 5 meters will work. For reference look at the dual turbolasers on the CR90 It is a very simple mount for 2 but is still around 10 meters in diameter Closer to 8 but adding 2 more Tlas then having them have the power regulation to have rapid fire capabilities this would just be a larger mount.

That's... standard naval engagement range... they're synonymous.
Standard naval ranges can account for a wide variety of weapons from lasers to heavy turbolaser and even long range weapons. We generally think of naval weapons as either laser equivalent, turbolaser equivalent, or long range turbolaser equivalent when we think about ranges here.

Mmmm... Depends on the turbolaser and who makes it, really. I'll meet you in the middle here. How's 8m, 7 tonnes work?

As for ranges, standard engagement ranges meant standard turbolaser ranges during my time in the factory. Honestly, unless someone starts using it to plink away from thousands of km away, I don't see an issue. I get it, but generally folks go by turbolasers being standard naval engagement ranges and if there's any question for people who aren't sure, they can either ask someone or - if using this weapon - read the dialogue to double check.
