Orphen had been waiting for this chance for some-time, but finally, his dream of being able to work on some of the grandest technology in the world had come to light, though he had never been exposed to much of the technology of the Chiss, he had seen but a few articles of their equipment and by the schematics of objects which were in current circulation, though, using his contacts in Greyson industries, he had managed to strike somewhat of a small time trade deal with one of their weapons manufacturing companies, one of the smaller branches for sure, but it was a group which specialized in the creation and development of Charric technology, and Orphen had always wanted to get his hands on one of those guns, though, his own he was already slightly proud of, but, the ones which could be found here were something different entirely, a particle beam did not have the same properties as a blaster, it was no longer a laser, it was something else. While, Charric technology was, it was considered a blaster, but had some off the desirable properties of particle weaponry, which was something that Orphen had concluded as nothing more than fantastic. Travelling to the location he could barely contain his excitement, he spent some dedicated time making sure that all of his equipment was polished, the Chiss outpost here was little more than a Chill alienage within republic territory, a space station hovering above the atmosphere of an undisclosed planet, their production factories were there as little more than extensions of already massive businesses, tendrils, subsidiaries. But it was enough.Orphen, after aboug two weeks of travel in his own ship managed to reach his destination, looking at the hovering city sphere and smiling, he could already see the lights of the city glimmering like a beacon of technological inspiration. Gunning it towards the area, he was hailed by a couple of chiss interceptors as well as some planetary defenses whom were obviously weary about the new comer. Orphen gave his credentials, as a Jedi Padawan of the order, and that he had a meeting with one off their weapons manufacturers. It took a couple of minutes to verify, so, Orphen began to talk to the chiss, somewhat casually, asking them about any of the politics on the station which he may have to be weary of, any customs which he should be sure to mind that he may not know about. It was apparent to the pilots that he had little experience with the logic based Chiss, one of the pilots, seeming to take an amount of acceptance to the ignorance of the new comer, began to inform him of how the chiss worked and operated on a cultural level, how, that they were not used to sarcasm as such, though they understood it, such terms that were not literal were not often used, and overly emotional responses were not often accepted, so that he had best keep his excitement to a minimum. Orphen nodded to himself and thanked the man as they received word from watchtower, and gained his clearance, following the military ships to the docking station until he was able to land.
Moving out, and filling out the paper-work he needed to accomplish, the small Jedi received a card key to his own personal docking space, paying the submission fare happily as he exited the space port and began to search the city around him, having absolutely no idea where he was in comparison to his destination, though, when in doubt, one had only to explore until he could ascertain what he needed to do... After a couple of hours, and finding a place to eat, consuming some of the nicer foods he had ever had the pleasure of partaking at a cafe, Orphen had asked the location of the chiss industry sector, where the charric company would be situated as he had an appointment. Though the woman he asked did not have an answer for him as such, she pointed Oprhen in the direction of a City Directory which would, smiling and thanking the woman warm-heartedly, bowing slightly in respect, he followed her directions until he founded where he needed to go. The directory was little more than a booth in the center of what appeared to be a small central plaza. There were a few other people crowded around it, raising information on the city. Orphen didn't need to get too close to interact with the map, from a distance and taking a small amount of high ground on a park bench he was able to see the map well enough. It seemed the place he was looking for was on the edge of the City, which made sense, taking a note of the streets, Orphen began to walk in that direction, noting the military presence in this city...
Orphen had heard about the mandatory military service members of the Chiss race had to serve in their imperial guard. Though he had not realized that it was so universal, such a thing must have been ingrained into their culture on the smallest of levels, to the point that it was now universal no matter how far they got away from their home-world. But, what was prevalent around here was just how potent the culture was, there were armed guards walking the streets, Charrics in their hands or on their backs as they were ever vigilant, stone faced and focused on their work, one could easily tell the amount of pride taken in their work, it was important to them, members of their society were accountable to each other it seemed, and the expectations of others was something that was honored among them, as was readily apparent. After another couple of hours of walking through the city, Orphen noticed that there seemed to be no discernible drop in quality the further they got to the outskirts, which was amazing to say the least, there was no Bronx, no slums, the city was of the highest quality the whole way through. It seemed that a totalitarian monarchical dictatorship had some benefits to it after all...
Once Orphen reached his destination he was checked in, thankfully, he was early, with all of the detours and getting lost he was relatively on time. Greeted by a fine looking Chiss woman and a man at a front desk whom the female of the two led Orphen to the elevator, instructing him that the Coordinator of the place would be ready to see him. Smiling and bowing with some courtesy, Orphen took the trail to be led into a spartan, but, elegant room with a desk in the middle of it. On the chair was a Chiss man, whom, even though the young Jedi was early, seemed to be waiting. The man offered a seat, which Orphen took happily, with a single bow, which, seemed to be going down well with the chiss so far.
And so, the two of them began going over the details of the deal.
the deal was rather small in scope, but also large enough to be useful later, the shipment was for a single dozen charric rifles and two dozen charric pistols with a single mounted heavy charric weapon, nothing major, most of it was for the company and for a private security force on the basis of established trade. Orphen had been working on the ins and the outs of the metal over the last little while, the mysterious Pyronium compound, and, should it be patented, a deal with the chiss could be made for discounted bulk trade to their yards for the used in specialized items, it was an investment, for sure, but, with only a few dozen items being asked for in a deal which, once Greyson industries got up and running would be a guaranteed trade partner which would allow them to expand, the logic behind it was sound, and the cheap charrics would help Orphen and the Jedi Order exponentially with little to no cost for Greyson Industries... and... after all, they would still be getting the goods, well, most of them, after Orphen had a bit of a tinker...
More talk, and eventually hands were shaken, the Chiss knew how to do business, they worked with logic, and common sense, what was good for them, and their ascendancy, which made them more open thinkers, not governed by emotion, though, it was rather rare to see the Chiss take a chance on Orphen, though, showing them some of the things which Orphen had already invented, as well as the details on the mineral they were intending to develop so far, Orphen seemed to convince them of the validity of his claims...
Taking the shipment back to his ship after the deal had been struck, Orphen hung around for some time, though, it was more or less to absorb the scenery, and get a basic idea of the layout of their circuitry. It was complicated, but, it made sense when you looked at it, it was logical, methodical, it took the most direct route based on pros and cons to be the most efficient and developed. Technology which was decades ahead of the rest of the galaxy, the ascendancy was not restricted by the capitalist ideals of staggering technology for profit, they developed the maximum potential of their technology at any one time, and it showed. So, finally boarding his ship, he began to leave, having his permission for liftoff when his package had been secured in the cargo hold before finally lifting off, and heading back in the direction of home...
Part way through, it was time to get into the good stuff, grabbing his bag, he moved to the charrics, beginning with the big one, and so screw by screw, rivet by rivet, focusing on his power in the force and analysing the weapon before him, he began to disassemble the heavy weapon, raising pieces up with the force and feeling around them, while simultaniously scanning the components with his visor, each piece was interesting, each piece had a history of development which Orphen felt like he had to decipher, but, he thought he was beginning to understand how they worked, though, the other models would need to be compared. Laying one of each of the models out, completely taken apart to its base most components on the floor, spread out before him, Orphen looked at how they were composed... it was no wonder these things were hard to make, their emitters were based in high frequency radiation combining to make a plasmic blaster substance, and it was... interesting to say the least. It was with the comparison to the smaller models that Orphen discovered how the chiss were able to size down the weapons, but, it seemed that in the more recent years, these weapons had become much more powerful, no longer limited in range like their younger counterparts half a millennium ago, there were much more advanced, and with that, much more useful.
Once his analysis was complete, Orphen took a full dozen of the base charric pistols and placed them in the holds of the ship, so that now, there was an equal amount of pistols and rifles, combined with the single mounted model, all re-assembled perfectly, reversing to the smallest detail how Orphen had disassembled them to begin with.
Orphen's idea was coming together, there was just a single other piece of study that he needed to perform.
