Having managed to get back home after he had cracked the codes of the Chiss Charric technology, Orphen had spend some time, powering down the Charric pistols and firing them at a slab of the same material which would be used for a blast door in the cargo hold, simply so that Orphen would have samples of the weapons as well as the amount of power which went into the blasts, to this ends his skills in Mechu Deru were proving more than helpful, as well as the Data Visor he wore, recording all of the data from each of the shots so that Orphen would be able to use the calculations later, while his memory occasionally rendered such tools useless in needs of referencing, it did not mean that his mind did not tire, and sometimes watching something was easier than recalling the information from memory. When it came to the end of it all, Orphen began to slowly scale up the power of the pistol until it was considered to be firing live rounds, ensuring that he did not miss the slab with any of the shots, as the last thing he intended to do was miss, and damage his ship in such a way that he would not be able to fix it, or in case it cause catastrophe of a calamitous sort. Looking over the examples and finding whatever new information he could it seemed the composition of the blasts fired from the Maser weapons seemed very similar to those of a blasters, so, Orphen indeed hoped that he would be able to find away to combine the beams in such a manner as to create a super laser with them. The weapons themselves were already too powerful for their own good, most of the size in the weapon simply added to the ammunition count, each of them bearing enough blaster gas to fire almost 300 rounds, and the energy cells that the chiss used Orphen doubted would be dry even after a thousand. But such was the artisanry of the Chiss race.
Three days past, which allowed Orphen to rest in the time it took for him to come home, in doing so he managed to create another two of his floating discs using Charric technology for their firearms, which made him smile a little inside, the little beasties were not too difficult to make, though there were intricacies, the Charric floating discs would be a little more powerful, though require to be a tad closer, nothing greater than ten or so meters, though their kinetic power would be a tad greater. Once he had arrived, while docking he had a courier take the weapons which he would not need in his experiments back to Greyson Industries, the noble scion of technology not wanting to wait another moment with his ten Charric laser weapons, taking them back to his lab some miles away in order to fulfill his mission to create a personal weapon which would aid him reliably in combat, without the need to wield the force in such a manner. The sith were always able to conjure far more destructive power than the Jedi on the battlefield, which was probably one of the reasons the Jedi always seemed to be coming up short, the power of the Jedi came in the resolve to do good in the names of others, which was an emotional strength that the Sith hardly tapped into with their own selfish desires as they sought out their own personal power and prestige. It could be logically explained through things like mothers looking after their children, the sith, simply did not seem to be as attached to the people on their own side, which, meant that they at least had a weakness. But, with the power of technology, that offensive power could be bridged, Charric weaponry was famous for not being able to be deflected by a light-saber, as the physical force of the bolts often proved too much for the Jedi or Sith to deal with, while the bolt would almost most certainly deflect, unlike a particle beam, the force would more than likely disarm the jedi due to the force put on their weightless weapons acting as a lever to pry the blade from their hands, or knock the blade into the jedi themselves... which, would prove embarrassing to say the least...
Though, with the advances of modern technology, with chiss technology added on top of that, there was no reason that a weapon could not be made which vastly out-powered the base charric system. Five smaller beams, each handle-able with small stabilizers for kickback built into them fired from the hand of the user, combining into a laser which would have a wave-length and power to it equivalent to some of the lower powered mounted or stationary charric weapons, and, as the beams were combined away from the user, and on such an angle, the kinetic energy combining would be channeled forward, not towards the user, making the weapon safe. Though, it would have a very limited power supply, more likely than not it would not be able to fire more than a dozen shots before it needed to be refilled with blaster gas, as the idea was to create a temporary sustained beam, rather than fire a single bolt. There was a dream, a hypothesis off a weapon which seemed to be plausible in the eyes of the young Jedi artisan, and one day, he would show these inventions to his master, hopefully, she would see the merit in them, but otherwise, there was little else he could do. He could not change the person he was, and while many would claim that Orphen was not a very good Jedi, this was his training, this was his strength, this, in some ways, as taboo as it was to say, was his passion. The world of logic and technology appealed to him, and there was no straying from it now that he had already done so much.
Once Orphen had accomplished all that he could, he would finally, hopefully, be able to make the galaxy a better place.
Once he reached his workshop, he began getting to work, sitting in the middle of his office, he thought that now would be as good a time as any to begin his more, mental training. Closing the doors and the blinds so that none were able to see, he laid the data out before him, presenting it in holographic form, the room around him lit up with a field of beautiful imagery, equations and physics which Orphen had figured out, much of it all recorded from his Visor, which, as per normal records and collects and stored all of the data it observed in temporary files to be sifted through later and either removed for deep hard storage, or allowed to cycle itself out of relevancy. The information shown was what was relevant, all physics to do with energy wavelengths, novella about the history of the super-weapons of the old empire and the properties of both maser, and Super-laser technology. Orphen scanned over it all and sitting in the middle of the sea of information, he felt himself slowly center in the force, feeling his aura of influence grow as it felt like he was slipping into something like a dream, but at the same time, something more, like submerging ones self in a peaceful lake, without the feeling of ever getting wet, which remained strangely absent from the sensation that washed across Orphen's body. Once he felt himself ready, he reached out with the force, and began to work, looking through the materials which were there, he reached his influence out to some of his tools, namely the ones to keep things in place as one by one he began to disassemble all half dozen of the pistols before him, breaking them down to their most fundamental parts, though keeping them connected and functional for the most part, not separating any of the physical machinery, but stripping them of their plating as well as their interior frame work which held everything in place.
Once that had been achieved, Orphen needed to set up an apparatus which would allow him to angle the positions of the beams, something not unlike a sophisticated vice like system, though it would not be too hard, taking an orb like surface, no bigger than a large ball, slightly smaller than a person's head, he began to set up the beams, altering their blast tubes, cutting them down their way and adding a flexible material between them, as well as an insulating coil around them so that they would still be able to function in the same manner. Orphen knew that the magnetic coils were important. The next step was to add a focusing lens in the center of them all, as well as a measuring beam, the center beam needed to be the strongest of them all, as it was often the one which ensured that the beams all propelled in the correct direction. Using a fusion cutter he put a hole in the apparatus and fitted the piece in carefully, using his own measurements and mental fortitude to ensure that all of the angles of the lasers were exact. With the help of Alpha, co-ordinating the patterns of the strike through his visor he was more than able to align everything to the specific state that it needed to be in to work. The last thing that he needed was the ability to create the electro-magnetic field to stabilize everything, the power source was not terribly hard to come by, while he was not able to use a hyper-matter generator like those which were boasted in capitol ships, he was still able to use a high powered generator. A dual redundant diatium powered generator would more than suffice for the weapon, though the power cells would be a little larger than the batteries found in the average light-saber, for sure. Orphen also fed the blaster gas tubes into a single wider, and larger component which they would all draw from, creating a small flood gate system between them so that the gas would be able to charge, prepare, and allow them to fire simultaneously, rather than the bolts staggering one at a time and creating all kinds of havoc... By and large Orphen was trying to prepare for all eventualities. Part of him also wanted to see if he was able to give the glove the ability to fire its six shots independently, without the need for combining, but, such a thing while aiding in diversity would detract from the core purpose of the weapon, and, would also require more backup systems in place to allow some form of additional secondary mode of fire, though, perhaps the ability to change between a single bolt of the super-charric and the continuous stream would be possible, but first, he needed to know if it would work...
The whole process took DAYS of consistent tampering in his workshop, even with his power in the force being able to aid him through the manipulation of machines and their parts, it was not helpful in aligning things with a level of surgical brilliance. These beams needed to be aligned with the most careful levels of precision possible. Then the slightest calibration error would cause the final result to miss-fire, until finally, it was time for trials. Booting up the system for a 5% trial, Orphen lit up the beams, and everything seemed to be going well until there was a spark, causing the weapon to power down, it seemed that there was some error in some of the tubing, setting back the first experiment a couple of hours while he had that fixed, leading into the next one, powering them up again, everything seemed to be going well this time, the beams aligned and the physics behind everything seemed to be going well, the sixth blast to the center projecting the combined ray forward in such a manner as it created a nice black hole on a slab of metal before it. Orphen cried out in success, at least he would have if the laser bolt had not have flung at least sixty degrees in the wrong direction. At first Orphen thought it was his calibration, but, after another dozen low power attempts, it was one of the tubes not building the same amount of power, which was creating an off centered beam. Cleaning out the issue took another few hours causing Orphen to rest for the day. Coming back the next, it was time to begin another trial, checking everything, it seemed to be in line...
and finally...
the combined beam worked, the charric technology combined to fire a single ray in a straight line, the way it was intended, leaving a nice black mark on a piece of steel. Orphen cried out in success, so happy that it had worked, be bought the total sum up to 10%. To see the glove work once again, then 20% for another success as the kinetic energy was building further and further up, the science behind everything seemed solid. Checking all of the systems and reloading the blaster gas and ensuring the microwave emitters for each of the tubes were functioning properly, Orphen began the half power test. The beams aligned perfectly once again, but it became certain that the initial impact of the beams was a lot of kinetic energy hitting one another, not all of it was going forward, so, Orphen needed to re-calibrate the beams to angle further away from the machine, a simple fix, but one that seemed important to be duely noted, fixing the emission of the electro magnetic field and the lens to some extent to match, it took another couple of low powered tests to keep the charric beams straight again, but, Orphen was beginning to get that habit down... it was not another half a day until Orphen managed to get the half power test that he wanted, almost blasting a hole in the material which he thought was meant to sustain the damage, pointing out just how powerful this technology was capable of being. Reinforcing the slab, and replacing the old one with a new, undamaged one, it was time to bring the power up to 70%.
The beams at this power were putting dents into even thick steel which could rather easily be considered the higher end of armour plating, and when it came to the 85% test, it penetrated a hole through the first blast shield and hit the next one. Until finally it came to the 100% ray. Orphen reloaded everything, ensured once again that everything was calibrated and ready, replacing the slabs of metal one last time and monitoring everything with his visor, stating aloud one last time, that this was to be the first, of the many 100% power tests of the weapon. Powering up the beams the shots fired, and the effect was devastating, the kinetic energy slamming into the steel warped the steel like tinfoil before penetrating both of the metal slabs, enough power to rip through the hull of a lightly armoured vehicle and probably kill those within it or flip a speeder with the kinetic energy. The force of the blow created a wave which slammed Orphen in the chest, winding him even at a considerable distance, likely due to the resistance of the slabs, causing him to cough.
Orphen smiled, reloading the weapons while he could and continued the experiment over, and over, and over again, gaining an increasingly larger sample size as he continued to make smaller and smaller changes to the system, mostly quality of life changes, how the wiring worked and where things crossed over. And then, began to plan for the system that this would be integrated into.
A gauntlet.
