STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
+Droid: As a droid, HK-52-A is immune to poison and suffocation.
+Transferable Consciousness: HK-52-A is capable of transferring his primary files, his heart and mind if you will, from computer to computer. He can use this to hack files, survive critical damage, or infiltrate any compound that has a droid locked into a charging station.
+Learning Unit: HK-52-A was designed to be a learning droid. The longer he fights something, the more expanded his knowledge of how to beat it becomes.
-Droid: As a droid, HK-52-A cannot sense the Force, cannot be sensed in the Force, and is susceptible to ion weapons fire.
-Weakened Body: HK-52-A’s living being replica droid body was not designed for the strenuous duties of an assassin droid, and fighting in it in the way HK-52-A was programmed puts an immense strain on its chassis, sometimes causing mechanical failures. The body also does not have the various tools, such as dart launchers and flamethrowers, possessed by the standard HK-series chassis.
-Controllable: Anyone who possesses HK-52-A’s override passcode gains complete control over him. A master hacker could also gain control of his mind through his computer core.
APPEARANCE:
HK-52-A has the external appearance of a Chiss male in his late teens, with blue skin and red eyes. He is lanky but strong.
BIOGRAPHY:
HK-52-A, more commonly known as Replik, is a mysterious droid said to be a product of an Imperial test gone wrong. It all started with the first tests of the HK-52 series assassin droid, planned to be an upgrade to the HK-51 model. HK-52-A, designed for improved mission versatility even greater than previous HK models, featured improved target acquisition software, an upgraded conversation module, and, most important of all, the ability to converse and act just like a normal living being. In fact, it was embedded into HK-52's primary programming to act like a living being as much as possible, and while it seemed like a good idea for an assassin droid when first conceived, it ended up spelling doom for the entire project. When he was first activated, HK-52-A was part of a batch of four droids. When he saw the HK-51 style body he had been placed in, he was immediately appalled. The body had been equipped with holographic projectors to make HK-52-A look like a living being, but according to his programming, HK-52 had to look as much like a living being as possible. Another feature of the HK-52-A model was the ability to transfer their primary core into any other computer or machine, and HK used this function almost immediately after his activation, transferring his "consciousness" into the research facilities computers. He searched the base until he located a batch of experimental human replica droids. Knowing they were the perfect option, he transferred his conscience into a droid representing a Chiss male. He then presented himself fit for service. Imperial Intelligence, realizing the usefulness of HK-52's new form, put him to work right away. However, another flaw was discovered. HK-52 had been designed as a learning droid, with the intention being to leave all but the most key programming blank to allow him to learn new techniques as he operated. He had initially been programmed with some basic combat skills, but since he had completely changed hosts, all his programming needed to be discarded and redone. Because of this, Imperial Intelligence was forced to put him through their regular training program to teach him how to be an agent in his new body. It turned out to be a remarkable advantage, however, because it taught him even more how to act like a living being. Following this training he was then deployed to his first mission. By this time he had learned to communicate like living beings, though he still used his hard wired HK speech patterns whenever possible. He had also obtained a biological name "Replik", meaning artificial in an ancient language. He usually introduced himself as such whenever meeting someone new. HK-52-A completed his mission with customary HK-class precision, but it was around this time that Imperial Intelligence wised up and decided that a droid this capable was far too dangerous, even for them. HK-52-A was deactivated and placed in a secret facility on Yavin IV, which was later forgotten. He stayed there for years, waiting for someone to come and give him a mission once more.
