Hyperdrive Class: 1.5

Strengths:
  • Lone Warrior: Can work without a fleet on solo missions or escort missions.
Weaknesses:
  • Light Underbelly: The Heavy Turbolasers, even on the Y-axis, aren't easily aimed at anything underneath it. Only 8 Light Turbolasers cover its underbelly

  • Crew: 200
  • Passengers: 650

  • The Redeemer-class was a take on Old Republic designs with standard-era technology, giving GOMM something of an intercept cruiser. It is not a cruiser, but it has become the mainline warship of GOMM for patrols, escort, and ability to fight well enough on its own. It may eventually become the ship that patrols trade routes and nearby areas, but for now it is the defender of Stabases, planets, and cargo ships. In its prime, it is considered the heavy hitter mainstay of the Galactic Overwatch of Military Minarchy.
Development Thread: If Needed
Intent: Give GOMM a decent ship for enforcing and escorting

[member="Galven Solomon"], this concept is solid. I'd like to see add a few sentences to the description that provide a basic summary of the ship's abilities. There are a lot of extra systems on this ship right now (especially in terms of shielding and protection devices) that I think this will probably either need some development, some of the devices removed, or more weaknesses added to the design to balance it out.

Molecular Shielding
Molecular shielding is going to need a hefty development (<30 posts) at mass-production. This can be obtained with less posts if the production is lowered.

Maneuverability Rating: 5
Speed Rating: 4
This is a bit fast and maneuverable for its size. Compared to the average frigate, how fast and agile do you want the Redeemer to be?

It's not supposed to be incredibly fast, how does increase each by one or two? I'd prefer speed to be better than Maneuvering, as it has multiple engines (I can pull up another picture of the same ship showing the engines). So it can intercept large craft but have a little trouble turning, it doesn't entirely like broadside fighting.

How about for the Molecular, I remove it, and add Particle shielding? I've obviously underestimated the power of Molecular shielding, haha

[member="Galven Solomon"], the speed scale here threw me off a bit when I first joined too. This is the most helpful reference that I've found to it:

Given it's size, I think somewhere around 10 and 11 would be most appropriate for it. Usually people pick the same number for both speed and maneuvering. However, a lot of times it makes sense to alter these numbers a little bit to get certain handling characteristics. This is usually done by trading speed for maneuverability or vice versa, but sometimes special systems can also alter these (like a burst engine feature, etc).

For this design, I'd suggest a speed of 9 and a maneuverability of 11.

Again, as with the ADT, I'd recommend using standard deflector shielding to get both ray and particle shielding.

I missed one thing:

2 Small Transports

Carried small craft currently have to be listed in terms of squadrons rather than individual ships. You can list it as a " 1/2 transport squadron", which will get you around 2-4 support craft depending on their size.
