How it works. It's a standard gas operated slug thrower without a lot of special features added to it. It comes in three easy to assemble pieces, the upper receiver, lower receiver, and the bolt. Anyone from children to grandmas can learn how to clean and use this rifle with the simplicity that it has. It's tough and reliable can be dropped, run through the sand and mud and will keep on firing. This is a the most prominent feature in the weapon as it's great to be used in any environment. It's a larger 7.62 round so it is armor piercing and can go through most ballistic plates on armor systems, it provides a heavier round for more power.
Special feature. The weapon comes equipped with a laser range finder sight that can give the user the exact range of a target up to three hundred and fifty meters. This comes standard on every rifle and is mostly there just as a friendly tool to have for judging distances. It can not laze targets for bombings or anything of the sort just find the range of a target. This part of the weapon can be destroyed from ion or EMP based attacks but it's just a nice tool to have and really doesn't contribute to how the weapon operates. The foldable stock can tuck to the side of the rifle and this makes it excellent for sweeping buildings at close range. Accuracy however really doesn't matter all that much when your target is less than ten meters away, folding the stock will in turn cause the weapon to lose a lot of accuracy.
Weaknesses. It's not very accurate. Due to it's heavier round the bullet has a faster drop to the arc than most assault rifles that fire a 5.56 and have a longer range. This weapon sadly is not as accurate as those weapons and even though it packs a bigger punch the accuracy drops off because of it. The weapon can be a bit unwieldy at times as it is a longer rifle, it does have a folding stock but the rifle loses plenty of it's already diminished accuracy when it is folded.
Summary. The Red Dead is a great assault rifle to have for the every day soldier trying to make it on the front lines. It's reliable, easy to use, and powerful. It can take a hit and keep on giving.
