Recruitment materials

Since the Mandos have ramped up their recruiting efforts, we need to do the same as well. Any member contribution to the Republican recruitment materials will be well-appreciated.

My first one, "Invasions guaranteed or money back" may not have been the best one, but probably one that might work better would make use of my own alt Jessica - if I could find someone to strap an ARC trooper armor on her (without helmet) on Photoshop.

Maybe Jessica isn't the best Republican mascot, but I designated her because she was the Republican character that made it through Kashyyyk from start to finish and hence I would insert a Kashyyyk background on the resulting picture.

Considering the ads we have here should be used alongside any other materials, conceptually what I would probably build my next ad around is, given Jessica's time under the spotlight on Kashyyyk, I wonder whether her likeness in ARC trooper armor would be a good foundation, upon which to add on the content.

Why ARC trooper armor? you will ask. The WESTAR Skirmisher armor she wore in the invasion had similar components to Phase-1 ARC trooper armor.

The canonical roundels of the Republic (both the TOR-era one and the Clone Wars-era one) as well as any other ingredients going into a recruitment poster will be added at later dates.

Maybe [member="Caius Flavian"] or [member="Suravi Teigra"] could fill in on the Ws (who, what, where, why) of faction flavor before we roll these things out...

So... are y'all just doing artwork posters to try and draw new members in? Or... y'know... are you guys gonna actually do something? 'Cause the art is neat, but... an empty box with gold-plated wrapping paper is still an empty box.

Now see that is why I log on everyday. I can count on you to be a factually cynical bastard. :)

[member="Popo"] That's why I thought it was best to wait until the questions pertaining to faction flavor were answered before we roll anything out. Once the content is made clear then we can go ahead and roll our artwork out.

What faction flavor? Granted, the only staff members I'm aware of is Suravi and Caius, but even so none of them have popped up, said anything, or even given hints as to what the goal is other than "We're gonna make the Republic great again. It'll be amazing. We'll build a wall and the Mandos will pay for it" kind of responses. There's loads of things you can do and I even more or less spelled out a road to doing it with waypoints, rest stops, and highway signs along the way.

The general staff reaction, the only real response I've seen that actually looked like competency, was Caius' respons in the Solutions thread. Even then, it was basically a generic "You guys can do what you want, we won't really stop you. Go be productive" which, from prior experience as a FO for this faction and a FA for the Mandos, doesn't work. You want folks to do stuff, get them motivated. Get them invested. Don't just sit back and go "Yeah, we can totally do all this stuff.... Well, you can, I'm not. Go for it! I'm rooting for you!"

If a Faction staff member doesn't have the time to post, and I've seen at least one or two references in the Republic back room of Faction staff not posting reliably (or at all), then that hurts the faction. Yeah, you can have staff that don't post much, or at all, IC'ly. Does it work? Not really. Are there exceptions? Sure. Even so, those factions usually die out because there's no drive from staff or membership. Faction staff are leadership and lead by example. One or more staff members not doing anything? Aren't visible? Can't dedicate time and effort for even an IC post on occasion? Thank them for their time, show them out, bring new blood in. Don't think it works?

*Points at Mando faction*

As a former FA for that faction... I WASN'T DOING ANYTHING! Between work, life, and studying for class as well as re-re-learning time management skills... never posted. Had no muse, was basically a wall decoration for a while. What happened? Someone called for a FO vote because they were tired of the faction being stagnant. What happened? New FO, faction invigoration, and everyone became motivated overnight. Yeah, I got kicked to the curb, but hey, wasn't doing anything helpful other than making sure the office furniture didn't float away. Now? The faction is doing far better, it has motivated and active leadership, and has some serious drive because they're leading by example.

TL;DR
I am still seeing all talk, no action. If you guys acted as much as you debated in the back room or took the time spent on pushing artwork of pretty women in Republic uniforms to actually push a concept, you could probably get the wheels spinning in a direction. What direction? No clue, but a direction is better than sitting still.

Suggestion:

Stop debating, start acting. The longer you sit and debate and hem and haw over what to do and what not to do and how to actually function to bring life back in the faction, the easier it will be for the faction to be steamrolled and/or die out.

Hell, I'd even argue if someone actually takes this advice and runs hard with it, starts threads and pushes agendas to get the place rolling and living again, maybe you should put them at the helm for a bit. See what happens.
