Private RE: D'Qar Opportunities

Nej-more-1.jpg

Nej liked a good soiree into the finer things in life since becoming obscenely wealthy. He did, for a brief moment. It then became increasingly frustrating to have nice things without having to steal, buy, or barter for them.

Obscenely wealthy was an understatement, it was more of a misnomer. Nej Tane was probably one of the richest men in the galaxy. So, his outlaw days were dead. Dead and buried. It was now... well, nothing. Nothing but doing whatever he wanted for the rest of his long life.

Which, after all, was exceedingly boring. Nothing fun ever really happened anymore. No great shootouts, no great mysteries, no... well, nothing. D'Qar was another investment opportunity. He didn't need the money- he'd won billions. He just liked having something to do. Plus, it was a little fun- it was close to the Republic (not his enemies, not his friends) and Sith Empire V2 (not his friends, sort of his enemy). The Sith had a foothold here more than the Republic. Influence was key, after all.

He much preferred his way of living, which, was, not much at all really anymore. He was alive, sure, but he wasn't living. He did his best work, he did his best living on the fringes of space and on Empires. And... well. D'Qar was a.... world. It had little use for outlaws. Even less like of them. But plenty like of their money. The whole place was hoity-toity. He arrived at the spaceport hours ago, and with his hands stuffed in his red jacket, made his way around the planet. Boredly. His meeting wasn't until tomorrow, which he'd probably give them the few million credits they wanted, whether the idea was good or not. He just didn't care much anymore.

Everything felt vapid and empty. His life was boring, safe, sanitized, clean. He stopped near a shop window, staring at his reflection. Sure. He still had the gear and the guns, but he wasn't the same man as he once was. Washed up. Lost his money. Lost his edge. No wars to fight. No heists. No spurned loves to run away from. Just him, his big bank account, and the tyrannous stars of fate that befell him with riches beyond comprehension, yet emptiness beyond reason.

It was so... boring.

D'Qar, however, would prove Nej wrong... and someone else was here. Someone that the Sith-aligned political parties and reward-hungry folks would be happy for. And Nej was about to run into-

Kitt Solo Kitt Solo .

Kitt was on the other side of D'Qar. Not the side where the Vanguard were. She'd tried to see if a few others had wanted to go out for the long weekend. But everyone declined. Kitt didn't blame them. Those kids had a lot going on. And Lorn was just being Lorn. He preferred the woods and solitude over what she preferred.

Noise.

And a lot of people.

Music.

Drinks.

Sometimes chaos.

"Alright you karkers, next round is on me!" She yelled in the small, cramped bar that mosied up to that chit-plastered space-port. Right as Nej Tane Nej Tane walked by. Yeah, sure she was letting loose. But she'd also heard rumors of a spy on planet. And this was just the first phase of trying to suss him or her out.

Nej heard her scream out as soon as she raised the glass, and it caused his head to turn, causing him to stop looking where he was going and-

Ran face first into the outcropping of a building. Full on walk.

He held his head for a moment, rubbing it, cursing in a few different languages before he realized he hadn't drank or ate much today. Whoever was screaming inside was probably right that he should.

Space-port cantinas were a lot of things in small packages. Food, drinks, T-shirts, fuel, it all was usually in the same spot. Some people were like Nej, some people were not. But most people there had a reason to be in a space-port, or stay close to one like he was.

Nej was one such person, as he was just passing through the area. He had no business staying in someplace more... permanent, and further away from the space-port. Nej entered the bar rather quietly, trying to avoid attention. A few credits here, and he was well on his way for a plate of... something, and a drink. He didn't really read the menu all that well and he didn't really know what any of the local food was like. Hopefully at the least, it was edible, and at best, it was cheap.

His eyes wandered over to Kitt Solo Kitt Solo . Did he... know her? Or just know people like her?

Oh chit, did that bro just faceplant into a building? She raised her mug of Corellian ale in his direction. A single-chestnut brow lofted. In greeting. In challenge. Maybe both. She tipped it back, emptying its contents as the other patrons scrambled to get their 'free' drinks.

Movement to the left caught her attention. A shift in emotions she felt through the force, too. It was quiet. Almost missabe but an urgency.

Kitt's myrtle ellipses tracked the Rhodian slinking away. Setting her empty mug on the crowded bartop, she pushed away from the counter and begain following her mystery quarry. The only thing was? She didn't notice she was being followed by another mook in heavy armor and a mask.

Cantinas.

Cantinas.

Always a cantina. Always a bar. What was the difference between a cantina, a tavern, or a bar? He didn't have time to ponder it, but he did have time to drink. Nej adjusted his signature red leather jacket- affixed with all sorts of protections and armorweave underneath, and took a seat at the bar.

His eyes were met by a dark-haired woman. He had a thing for dark-haired dangerous women, and some of them had a thing for strawberry-blonde idiots. Then, his eyes flicked from her che-

Her eyes, of course.

To the man behind her.

Big. Armored. Masked.

Not uncommon for these parts, lots of people. Not a Mandalorian, not a Trooper... so... that probably meant. Nej got his drink as he put it together.

Bounty Hunter.

"Kriff."

And then, Nej looked around. And saw a lot more eyes on her and him than anywhere else. It couldn't have been a-

It was.

It's a trap!
