SPECIAL FEATURES
  • The Ion Encumbrance Rifle fires Ion-enabled "tags", projectiles enveloped in ionic-energy that adhere to a target surface and causes an ionic effect that disables shields. The tags have a secondary purpose however, in attracting other ion tags produced by the rifle, thus increasing the accuracy of the firer once a tag has truck a target. Even with its low stopping power, at its rate of fire, long range, lack of recoil, and ability to redirect stray bolts to hit on target, the Ion Encumbrance Rifle becomes an exceptionally dangerous weapon that can eat up shields and overwhelm a target in seconds. This rifle is rather heavy however, and requires multiple ammunition types simultaneously in excessive numbers in order to be effective. These short comings however, do not mitigate from the fact that even an untrained marksmen will be able to hit their targets much better after hitting them once, and at this rate of fire it's usually only a matter of time before they hit their target at least once.
Strengths:
  • Rate of Fire - This rifle has an excessively fast ability to throw energy enveloped projectiles down long range, and has a huge ammunition capacity in order to make use of this particular strength. You will find few weapons that can fire as quickly as this weapon.
  • Shield Eater - This weapon has one goal: to overwhelm. Utilizing ion "tags", this weapon is capable of ripping up shields through a continuous ion effect once a tag has hit is mark. The shields issue will only get worse the more tags are launched, which is exceptionally likely once a single tag has found its mark.
  • Redirect Fire - The secondary use of the ion tags, is its ability to redirect nearby stray bolts back on course, attracting more ion tags to fire and hit the same spot as before, putting maximum strain on even the toughest of shields and improving the effective accuracy of the shooter as a result. Its lack of recoil additionally makes the task of hitting one's target much easier to accomplish. It should be noted however, that while it can attract other tags, it isn't guaranteed to alter their trajectory so much as to actually cause it hit. If the tag is fired to far away, its effects will be too negligible to correct its flight path.
Weaknesses:
  • Ammunition - Unlike most rifles which only use one type of ammunition, or is capable of using two or more as optional sources of ammunition, the Ion Encumbrance Rifle is a picky eater with a massive appetite. Not only does it require the use of a power cell, a gas canister, and a drum of projectile "tags", it needs enough for a maximum capacity of 500 bolts. That is an unreasonably high amount of ammunition, and it can be felt in the weight of the rifle itself.
  • Very Slow Reload - You don't want to be caught without additional ammunition on this weapon (which is an all too real possibility with its rate of fire and an individuals limited capacity to hold more ammunition), as trying to reload all three types in a reasonable amount of time is almost impossible logistically.
  • Low Stopping Power - Individually, these Ion tags do not do a even moderate amount of damage, in that while they are built to disable shields or technology, it does so through overwhelming numbers of Ion tags adjacent to one another. If only a single Ion tags adheres to a target, and the target manages to escape the wrath of additional tags, they might not even notice that the tag hit them at first since its damage threshold is so low. Even a Jawa could power through the pain of a dozen tags before they become noticeably deficient.
DESCRIPTION

Every wanted to go trigger happy on targets but hate missing? Invest in the Ion Encumbrance Rifle, and reap the benefits of a high-powered, shield eating, and accuracy-increasing beast created by the brilliant engineer of Triam Akovin. Make a carefully placed shot to tag a target on semi-auto, and then fire without worry of recoil 500 rounds on full auto.

Just don't run out of ammo, its a whole karkin' ordeal to refill all three ammunition types, and it could get you killed if you haven't apprehended your no doubt pissed off target at this point.
