Grains of sand stirred with the biodome’s breath as it pressed against Rath’s face. The artificial heat basked upon the pair like the watchful eye of a higher being of existence. The young man could never claim to ever participate in such events as a tournament. In the past, he tended to avoid large spectacles where it was required for him to show his face. For it had often drawn unwanted attention towards himself, but Rath was no longer cloaked in shadow.

Clipped onto his belt were two hilts, one that was slightly curved as it was ornate with a silver engraving, and the other looked like the hilt of a sword. The soft leather hand, the crossguard of beskar, and the blade was the only thing missing from making it complete. Each represented a point of his life, one that was a ghost of his past, and the other a symbol for what he should be.

Duets of green peered across the dune towards his opponent. Someone he briefly met during Master Jax’s lesson, but Rath wouldn’t dare claim to be familiar with her. Still, Rath reached for the beskar hilt as it gracefully unclipped itself from the warrior’s belt and glided to his hand.

”May I have this dance?” If the dance was involved with deadly tools, then sure. But there had been plenty of cultures that turned weapons into symbolic tools that represented their people to some degree. The Echani used double-bladed swords as part of their dance for example.

There was no click of a button or a mechanism at play when the golden blade ignited to life. Only by the pull from the Force did it manifest, and with it carried a serene balm that quelled emotions such as hate and sorrow. The light within the blade carried streaks of silver, like falling stars from the cosmic void. Rath gave it a light twirl as he positioned the hilt horizontal just below shoulder level. Both hands grasped onto the hilt, one was security and power closer to the crossguard, and the second closer to the pommel was for control and precision.

He did not press any attacks, not until Fallon was ready. For this was a tournament, not a fight to the death. Not that he’d expect everyone to follow those unwritten rules, but that was just how Rath was. Underneath the dark past of atrocities and war was a man, a soldier, who only rose to power to protect the people of a dead nation.

Fallon was looking forward to this duel, a little chance to see what she could do in a competitive duel against her new friends. She had discarded her and stood in the sand in her red tunic and green-red harlequin trousers. Her saber was already in her hand but not yet active. "I have been looking forward to this dance, may Ashla shine on use both as we duel."

She flipped her sword on and it hummed into life, bathing her in the golden glow that warmed her heart with its connection to the light. They were putting a lot of faith into the training lenses, these were there real sabers, turned into shock swords by nothing but a small accesory crystal. She hoped they worked, it didnt do well to be removing limbs in a friendly duel.

"On guard, sir." she lifted her own saber into an aggressive stance and advanced, the smile never left her face, she would fight with all the commitment that her opponent deserved but he would have no doubt that this was just for fun for her.

She made the first sweep, an exploratory sweep down and from one side to see how her opponent's defence box was shaped was shaped. If he blocked she would follow that up with some rapid attempts at blows, if he didnt block. Well, she would win in a single strike and that would just be boring.

Their movement was swift as it was elegant. It was less to do with talent or skill with the lightsaber, and more to do with what Rath considered to be common sense. His movement was minimal at best as he would take a step with his saber moving in tandem. As he stepped back with his lead leg as his weapon twirled to clash against low sweep.

Without missing a beat, Fallon proceeded to rapidly strike at him with alternating attempts, never striking at the same place twice. Each time her strikes were met with clashes of his weapon, but it was almost like he was comfortable with their pace. Given his past of fighting and killing both Sith and Jedi alike, it was little wonder from a broad perspective.

On her last attempt, Rath proceeded to slam his blade downward against her saber in hopes to force the blade away from her and himself. If successful, Rath would capitalize in that moment to deliver a front kick at her abdomen in an effort to create space and distance. It was less to do with winning the match, and more of a check on herself when met with struggle. There was no easier way to get to know someone than to fight them.

Fallon knew how to take a punch, so when he got bored of blocking and the kick came in the allowed the momentum into her and spun away from him giving them both a little space. The slightest nod was shared in respect at the first engagement before she reasserted herself on him.

Three steps and then she left upwards, aiming to clear him. With a thought she activated her cloaking device and vanished with the briefest shimmer. A second later she landed in the sand into a crouch, allowing her cloaking device to deactivate again and sweeping for legs with a spinning kick in an attempt to take him off his feet. The force knew it made more sense to go for then killing blow from a position of invisibility, but the less intuitive decision to go for the sweep she had found could catch even precognitives off guard. She did have her saber out though, ready to block and riposte the inevitable reply.

Years ago, Rath had once taken down an upstart of a cult, who utilized specialized anti-Force Users, a sect that drew strength from their opponent. The stronger their opponent was in the Force, the greater their prowess became. That being said, they too utilized stealth generators in the form of belts, and it was how they managed to slip through many defenses in the past. To most, the stealth units was arguably fool-proof as they were trained to take down Masters and Sith Lords, but that mattered little when they were the ones being hunted.

Unlike the typical Jedi and Sith, Rath couldn’t feel the alignments of the Force such as Light and Dark. He could only feel its presence like a constant weight that shifted and flowed through him. The only way he could tell the difference between the alignment was by scent. Each individual carried a specific scent in the Force, but one would look at him like the man was crazy if he explained it.

So imagine his surprise when Fallon had leapt in the air as she intended to sweep at him once more. In truth, he never truly understood such a thing as there was hardly any form of mobility once they were in the air. Lest they had some form of ability or mechanism that would enable flight or at least change their trajectory. So Rath had been ready to strafe and spin around the would-be assailant. His wide blade positioned not to block or clash, but to deflect the lightsaber away from him and along her original arc with an immediate follow tap on her shoulder. It would've been enough to end the match, if that was exactly how it'd play out.

Instead, something had changed when all of the sudden her entire form disappeared, visual and all, save for the sound and the Force. He didn’t know if it was invisibility or an illusion, but everything suddenly felt muffled. Even the wind was barely a whisper. Whatever the case might have been, he couldn’t pass the risk that either she was in front of him or somewhere entirely.

Rath swiftly spun his golden blade assisted by his second hand as the saber hummed loudly even through the muffled environment. At the end of the spin, he brought it down towards the ground where Fallon would have landed based on her trajectory path. Whether that rang true, missed terribly, or was blocked, the true form of attack would arrive afterward.

The dome shook violently as a thunderous crash ripped through the sand. Kinetic waves kicked up and pushed the sand away from Rath for a good twenty meters. But the purpose was a double for either increasing the strike's power if blocked, or to defend himself from an unseen attack. It would effectively be like a woompa had slammed into her if it hits.

Rath's blade hit the sand where she might have landed had she not practiced these techniques so often, her use of Ataru was supplemented by use of the force to adjust her momentum in flight. As his blade came down, wide of her, she made her own strike.

She felt the surge in the force moments before the attack came and she put her own arm up to react to it. The wave of sand hit her like water hitting the now of a ship, parting around her defence and dispensing beyond her. It left an open and handles space in the area which was now bare down to the artifical floor.

She smiled at her opponent. If he was paying attention he would feel an unguarded sense of enjoyment from her. Her thoughts betrayed her, but why would she even try to hide the fact that she was having so much fun.

The she moved around him turning her blade in a defensive arc waiting for him to take the initiative and make an aggressive stance, she was on the offense, he was on the defence, a switch up might break the stalemate. The next time he tried to strike she would shift phase momentarily to allow his blade to pass through her, then try to strike him after he passed.
