DESCRIPTION
Overview

The Ra'gr was made based on the XJ3 and XJ7 Series X-Wing. What the T-65 lacked, the XJ Series had, the next step up in technology, making use of more advanced processors and electronics, more powerful shielding, and stronger, more efficient weaponry. During the Yuuzhan Vong war the XJ3 was the ultimate in Space Superiority and following its success the XJ7 was simply a tune up from it, with only very minor increases in technological advancement. For one hundred years the XJ Series served as the best Space Superiority Fighter in the galaxy until it was replaced.

The Ra'gr is a mix of several lessons learned from other starfighters, heavily based on the XJ3, and with technological advancements developed by ArmaTech, Mandal Hypernautics, and Clan Rekali. For everything it is, the Ra'gr is the ultimate Dogfighter. On even footing, the only thing better are the fighters made with Beskar, Phrik, or Ultrachrome hulls, and properly equipped, the Ra'gr can still be a match for these.

Designed off the XJ3, the Ra'gr also pulls data and technology from the Rekali-class, the Cabur-class, the Avenger-class, and the RZ-1 A-Wing. From these it pooled together arguably one of the deadliest dogfighters in the galaxy, with a variant designed to support strikes against capital ships instead.

Shields and Armor
The Ra'gr makes use of Mandalorian Steel for its space frame. The durable, lightweight, material allows for a very strong, very resilient frame designed to take hits and handle high velocity maneuvers and immense g-forces the vessel may suffer from during combat. Because the Ra'gr was designed with the idea that it would be suffering from high stress maneuvers the team that initially fabricated the vessel went through a number of options before settling on Mandalorian Steel. Alusteel, Duranium, and Bronzium were all passed up for the synthetic forged material, despite the increased costs in order to properly compensate the vessel for the type of combat it was expected to make.

Its exterior plating is G-32 Evasive armor, designed with every curve, engine fitting, weapon mounting, and maneuvering jet in mind, the light weight Desh-Terenthium plating is made to fit around the frame and mountings perfectly, granting the ship excellent aerodynamic and hydrodynamic properties, as well as granting it a slight increase in maneuverability in space by making the most of etheric rudders and propulsion systems in relation to its frame and body.

As for its shields, it was decided efficiency to give it an edge in dogfights was preferable to the Mandalorian style Retribution Shielding. Instead the vessel features a directional shield connected to a Shield Processing Computer. The computer analyzes the shields integrity, and when it takes damage, angles the majority of the shields resilience in the direction of the most potent, consistent damage. This allows the fighter to maximize its shield power in one on one engagements, however against multiple foes from multiple directions, the system is far less effective. In terms of standard, even shields the system is equal to any other shield generator for a Starfighter, just designed to maximize its one on one effectiveness.

The Ra'gr also uses a set of Hydrostatic fields allowing it to travel underwater, in liquid atmospheres, nebulae, and some gas giants without issue. It also has a single Cap Drain granting it partial resistance to EMP, Ion weaponry, and a single connor net during combat before this fixture must be repaired or replaced.

Engines, Thrusters, Reactor
The Ra'gr utilizes an AUG-4C Reactor, a reactor specifically made to maximize the efficiency of shield regeneration and booster recycling. This reactor allows shields to recharge at a significantly faster rate when not firing weapons or preforming high stress maneuvers. In combat this can be extremely beneficial, allowing a pilot to stave off firing weapons while being pursued, allowing its shields to recharge just a bit faster than normal. This can mean the difference between life and death, even given the 15% difference in shield recharge and booster recycle rates that the AUG-4C allows for.

Its engine units are extremely important, being one of the key components in the design of the starfighter. The Engines have powerful blast shields and retro-boosters, allowing the system to make a full kinetic stop on command, literally stopping all forward momentum the craft has. During this maneuver the ship may reorient itself very easily, allowing the pilot to change facing almost immediately if he is seeking to disengage, allow pursuers or warheads to overshoot him, or simply dodge incoming fire. In order to properly make use of such drastic changes in speed the fighter features an advanced inertial compensator capable of reducing the g-forces of high stress maneuvers to survivable levels. This field can be expanded in order to stave off Dovin Basal's shield grab attack that many current manufacturers have forgotten about.

To complement its full stop ability the Ra'gr features a set of Booster Thrusters, allowing it short bursts of enhanced speed and acceleration. This allows it to recover its speed very quickly, and gives it short Three-second burns of speed equal to that of an interceptor every minute. The pilot must be careful and utilize these short burns when they are advantageous as it takes a full sixty seconds between bursts in order for the capacitors and thrusters to reset enough to supply enough energy for any noticeable change in speed. The avionics computer it uses is more than capable of performing the complex, high stress maneuvers, as it was originally designed for use on X-wings and has received processor upgrades from the RZ-1 A-Wing's avionics computer.

Sensor and Targeting Equipment
The Ra'gr-class Starfighter is very similar to the XJ3 X-Wing with its Sensor and Targeting equipment. Like that ship it uses a Fabritech ANs-5d Full-Spectrum Transceiver allowing it to detect space phenomena in every spectrum of light, heat, and the electromagnetic spectrum at standard range, providing and processing the data at blindingly fast speeds, allowing the pilot to remain aware of dozens of nearby phenomena, starfighters, or threats. To complement this system, a PA-9r Long Range Phased Tachyon Detection array is included, fitting into the nose of the vessel, allowing the starfighter to detect anomalies in the spectrum of light at extreme distances and process this information, giving the pilot notice of these objects with little to no lag despite the extreme distance between targets. It should be noted that this detection array only works in the spectrum of light, providing visuals without lag across vast distances. Also included are a Dedicated Energy Receptor, which a skilled operator can use to detect emissions from lasers, beacons, comlink transmissions, and thrust emissions as well as electromagnetic abnormalities. The system uses a focused beam and is intended to gather specific, detailed information from an already detected target, such as power fluctuations, shield levels, communications, and weapons fire. Because of its narrow beam, it is ineffective as an early threat device.

The Ra'gr-class's Targeting computer is capable of assessing One thousand sublight objects, acquiring forty possible targets, and is programmed to detected and lock onto one hundred twenty specific sensor signatures, allowing its weapons to lock onto any number of signatures a normal ship emits under normal combat operation. This has the added benefit of allowing its missiles to lock onto electromagnetic signatures, and have these signatures appear on its Holographic Imaging Targeting Board to assist in weapons locks. The computer is linked to a Tri-Tracker, which utilizes a triple array in order to maximize weapons effectiveness. The Target Acquisition and Tracking computer establishes signature lock on all targets of interest in the weapon's vector of interests, then the data is relayed to the Countermeasures Compensation Computer. This computer when combined with a targeting system, reduces the effectiveness of sensor jamming, chaff, flares, drones as it analyzed and tracked these countermeasures and predicts the target's flight path, compensating for the variables provided by the countermeasures as the weapon fired.

Finally, the Ra'gr features a Networked Telemetrics Computer, allowing a single vessel's targeting computer to be utilized simultaneously by an entire squadron. Sometimes, a flight leader may also be synchronized to a capital ship on rare occasion.

Miscellaneous Equipment
The LCC-33 Blaster Overcharge system is a bank of oversized capacitors held in the s-foils of the starfighter. These can be drained in order to double the rate of fire of the starfighter for a very short time, normally ten seconds. This increase effects all of the starfighters non-warhead weaponry, but, the system is completely drained after is use and must be recharged, normally while docked or using a refueling ship, in order to be used again. This means that it can only be used once per combat. This is combined with a KC5 Capacitor attached to each non-warhead weapon, which increases the effective range of the starfighters weapons a very small degree. In most dogfights this has little benefit, but in head to heads, it does give the Ra'gr a slight advantage, which was the call for its inclusion.

A 4x-Phantom Short Range Signal Jammer replaces the third warhead launcher found on the fighter's predecessor. This jamming system utilizes a Dedicated Energy Receptor Projector at long range in an attempt to blend into the signals and signatures around it, capable fuddling readings of long range sensors, hiding the ship. The more powerful and advanced the opposing sensor computer the further away the craft has to be for this system to be effective, and certain sensors such as mass detectors and those dedicated to detecting efflux trails are not as easily fooled, if they can be fooled at all. At close range it uses a very small Full-Spectrum Signal Distorter against a single enemy starfighter. This jamming beam locks on and disrupts communications and sensors, making tracking via control boards very difficult, and making target locks more difficult to achieve, normally taking longer. Some advanced sensor and targeting systems are able to overcome a single signal jammer. The system does not prevent someone from firing a weapon or using visual based targeting, and many more experienced pilots don't use the sensor boards when firing laser weaponry, and thus it is most effective against warhead launchers.

For anti-warhead countermeasures the Ra'gr makes use of a pair of flare launchers, which hold four flares each. These flares emit identical sensor data as the Ra'gr, disrupting warhead weapons lock while the flare homes in against the warhead. The flare then hits the warhead or is hit by the warhead and its small explosive charge is set off, taking the warhead with it. Additionally it has a single, aft mounted Chaff Launcher with fires a spray of sensor and guidance muddling particles, causing chasing warheads to prematurely detonate, keeping the Ra'gr safe.

The Ra'gr also has an Expandable Inertial Compensator, making it impossible for a single Dovin Basal to utilize its shield grab attack against the Ra'gr, however the use of several dovin basals used in this way can overload the system, which can be fatal. As a fail safe, the inertial compensator collapses before it is overloaded in such away automatically to protect the ship and the pilot.

Weapon Systems
The Ra'gr utilizes a modular weapons mount system, allowing squadrons to be built using different weapons as deemed necessary by the purchaser. Standard Weapons Mounts can accommodate Laser Cannons, Mass Driver Cannons, Ion Cannons, Heavy Blaster Cannons, and Particle Beam Cannons scaled down to be laser cannon equivalent in terms of power. These weapons are comparable to any other starfighter grade weapon and are always placed on the ship in matching pairs, meaning there is no mix and matching weaponry in standard mounts. Normally these fire as a pair, both firing simultaneously, or in a one-two punch setting. These can be set for Stutterfire to preform optimally against Vong craft, firing many low power bolts with full power shots mixed in at random intervals. This allows them to exhaust a Dovin Basal more effectively should it need to be used against Yuuzhan Vong.

The Light Weapons Mounts are capable of being fitted with Blaster Cannons, Light Ion Cannons, Light Mass Drivers, and Light Particle Beam Cannons, similarly scaled down to be blaster cannon equivalent in terms of power. These are smaller, less powerful weapons, but have a significant advantage in terms of rate of fire, favoring the motto of more ammunition spent, more likely to hit a target. A favorite combination of these weapons is utilizing a pair of Ion Cannons and Mass Drivers almost as a pair like a set of miniature Deck Cannons with the Ion blasters weakening deflector shields increasing the chance that the Mass Driver rounds will slip through the shields and directly damage the hull. These can be set for Stutterfire to preform optimally against Vong craft, firing many low power bolts with full power shots mixed in at random intervals. This allows them to exhaust a Dovin Basal more effectively should the craft need to be used against Yuuzhan Vong. In addition these are able to be rotated to fire backwards, much like the A-Wing Interceptor the Ra'gr drew several design features from, a nasty surprise for pursuing craft.

The fighter features a pair of Flex-Tube Warhead launchers, which hold a magazine of four missiles or torpedoes and can load almost any type of starfighter grade munitions. This allows Jedi to carry Shadowbombs and proton torpedoes, cluster warheads, concussion missiles, Intruder missiles, disruptor missiles, and other munition types.

Strengths:
  • Modular: The Ra'gr is highly modular, with numerous weapon options allowing them to be kitted to numerous space superiority roles.
  • Dogfighter: The Ra'gr absolutely excels in one on one dogfighting.
  • Support Systems: The Ra'gr relies much on its supporting systems to grant it versatility in combat, allowing it short bursts of speed and acceleration, shields angled for maximum efficiency, and a short burst of rapid fire capabilities.
  • Short Rest: Outside of combat the Ra'gr-class's reactor recharges its shields and boosters more efficiently, allowing it to disengage, recharge and re-engage quicker than other vessels.
Weaknesses:
  • Omni-Directional Damage: Its shields are designed to angle the majority of its strength in the direction its getting damaged the most at, this has the flaw of reducing the resilience of the shield everywhere else, making them easier targets from other directions.
  • Long Subsystem Delays: Most of its support systems or either one off uses, or require significant recharge time and are only usable once or twice per combat.
Special Features:
  • Enhanced Speed and Maneuverability
  • Durable Armor and Shield
  • Limited Stealth Capabilities
  • Limited Electronic Warfare Capabilities
  • Modular Weapon Systems
  • Weapon Overcharge

plese remember all of these weapons are not equal. The particle beam cannons are heavy mounts.

Light Particle Beam Cannons
Same for these a particle beam cannon is a heavy mount so a light verson would be a standard weapon. Particle beams use more power as they must maintain particle containment for a longer period of time than just throwing a bolt of it out. They also do more damage because of the increased time the energy can be output against a target. Bigger power needs more powerful. so they are heavy mounts

As you have development there is no problem with them being on the list of modular options though.

Increased armament. defense, speed, and maneuvering are well balanced by the development and additional systems needed to realistically make the craft as listed.

[member="Draco Vereen"] with the amount of development you have, they can be interchanged as is. You have plenty of development for the stealth, extra ratings and a bit heavier weapon payload. Its good like it is.
