STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (Required: 2 Weaknesses Minimum) :
Strengths:
1. Able Pilot: R3-D1, like most astromech droids, can act in a sort of 'autopilot' role for fighters, freighters, and larger craft. While it may not be skilled in dogfighting in this situation, R3 can certainly stand its own.
2. Splicing Capabilities: R3 is armed with a splicing prod to access terminals and other ships. This modification was added by its former owner for the task of breaking into derelict or abandoned ships.
3. Repair Module: R3 has the appropriate module for repairing damaged electronics, machines, or defences.
4. Shock Prod: For defensive purposes, R3 is armed with a shock prod.
5. Rocket Pods: Located on the sides of its 'legs', R3 has a pair of rocket pods to allow the droid a greater degree of movement for short periods of time.
6. Starfighter Capable: R3 is compatible with most fighters, though it does require an astromech slot.
7. Grappling Hook: R3 has a 5-meter grappling hook, either to help the droid get back upright or for its master to use.
Weaknesses:
1. Slow: R3 is an astromech droid and, as such, is extremely limited in movement.
2. Incapable of Speech: R3 can only speak in whistles and beeps. While some organics can understand it, most are unable.
3. Lacking Combat Abilities: With only a shock prod as its defensive weapon, R3 is unable to defend itself against any major attack.
4. No External Camera: Unlike the R2 line, R3 lacks an external, secondary camera.

APPEARANCE:
R3 looks like any average R3-series Astromech Droid. Squat, cylindrical, with a see-through head and greyish-white chassis. It is covered in grim and dirt, but is clearly in good condition.

BIOGRAPHY:
R3 was produced under a 'nostalgic directive' by the company that purchased the rights for its production. R3 was one of the first ten produced and given away in a raffle during the reveal event. A smuggler, whose name has been wiped from R3's memories, managed to win the astromech. The droid served for over a decade with the smuggler, filling the co-pilot role during this time.

The memories the droid has of this time have been lost, but during one mission, the smuggler was arrested by local authorities. R3 was claimed by the police force on whatever planet the smuggler was seized on, a restrainer bolt slammed on it and its memories wiped. It is unknown how long the droid remained in security force hands, and as the smuggler never returned to reclaim it, R3 was forgotten for decades.

Eventually, when the security forces were closing that specific building, the rediscovered the droid. With no use for a space-based droid, the security forces sold the droid to ana function house, who in turn put the droid up for sale.
