R-7 Blaster Rifle

Intent: Create Coronoa S&S's first weapon to be wielded by all of their droids and sold to some factions and possibly company's
  • Now those droids don't have to use those ancient blasters which don't do anything to people because of those fancy armors
Development Thread: If Necessary

Manufacturer: Corona S&S

Model: Rogue-7
Affiliation: Open Market
Modularity: No
Production: Minor
Material: Dallorian Alloy, Duralloy, Duralumin
Classification: Blaster Rifle
Size: Handheld
Length: 1.4 meters
Weight: 3.1 kg
Ammunition Type: Power Cell, Sig Gas Chamber
Ammunition Capacity: 175
Effective Range: 275m
Rate of Fire: Automatic/Semi-Automatic
Special Features:
  • Quick Cooling - If the weapon is pushed into rapid fire mode hard enough, it'll force it into a cool down state, but it's very short. However, further pushing (3 times in rapid succession) will make the entire weapon heat up to near-burning. Only the barrel is made of Dallorian Alloy
  • Light - With using light and heat-resistant metals, this weapon is easily stabilized to hit targets.
  • Accuracy - Along with the light suspension and heat-resistant barrel, this weapon is accurate. Only effective at Short-Medium range. Long range causes the bolts to spread.
Description: The R-7, being called the Rogue Rifle by the creator, was created through multiple try and fail attempts aboard the Corona ship workshop. What was required was something that can be wielded by droids, and be efficient enough in the modern day galaxy, since the blasters of old had near no effect and the owner needed to be protected by these droids since she was incapable of properly wielding a blaster herself. It also needed some sort of universal design, in case money was low and she had interested buyers, because not everyone uses droids. Those two feats alone were hard enough for a lonely engineer with limited parts, but with rigorous salvaging and finding new and improved technology along the way, eventually the design came to its seventh mark, being at least efficient, though not exceedingly satisfying.

As a weapon, this is nothing special, but there's a number of issues in the sub.

Effective Range: 10 km
  • This is... way too far for a blaster rifle. Think 200-300m effective range.

Automatic (Milisecond between each shot)
  • You can leave it at automatic.

nearly guaranteed to hit on the first 10 shots from non-use.
  • This will have to go. It's the person you use it against that gets to decide if they get hit, not the user of the weapon.

It's usually used as a NPC vs NPC weapon, and what is meant by guaranteed hit is that it will hit where you aim, not like, magically hit what you want it to hit, but it can go.

As for range, I'm only using the range of the DC rifle

I want it to have similar range, although forgive me as I barely can picture any measurement above feet.

Otherwise, other edits done

Mounted on a tripod, the maximum effective range of a DC-15A was 10 kilometers.
however, firing at maximum power demanded a higher rate of power consumption; while on the low power setting a DC-15A gas cartridge would last for 500 shots (300 shots on high power)
the charge pack lasted about 50 shots

If you want the... absurdly long range of that rifle, you'll have to consider the limitations of that rifle as well. Also take into account that the fact that the blaster bolt is around at 10 km wouldn't mean that the shooter would actually hit anything at that range.

  • Ah, sorry. My bad on this one. I meant you can leave out the specifics about the miliseconds, not drop the semi-auto. :)
